The Giant's Hand
From the air, a desolate riverbed lies to the north of this region. Neither Fafnir nor the giants showed any interest in this barren land and rarely set foot there.
Upon arriving here, Bai Mo sensed a familiar magical fluctuation. She had used a similar "keep away" barrier back with Touko Aozaki. Of course, the barrier before her was far more sophisticated than the one at Garan no Dou.
If Koyanskaya hadn't specifically marked it, we might not have discovered this place so quickly.
Bai Mo landed on the riverbed. This barrier used the method of creating an inner and outer space. Without permission, one would only arrive at the riverbed that appeared on the surface.
"Did Koyanskaya really make arrangements with them? Or did she manage to pull a fast one on them?"
Seeing that no one appeared, Goredolf couldn't help but start thinking in the worst possible light. In his eyes, that fox could set up such contract traps with ease.
However, not long after, red dots lit up on the detection map.
Bai Mo shielded Ortlinde behind him. Immediately afterward, the Daichi trembled, as if hundreds of people were beating drums at the same time, the sound almost stopping one's heart. Ortlinde looked into the distance and unconsciously gripped the pseudo-divine declaration in her hand.
Hundreds of figures, each tens of meters tall, emerged from the distant forest. They wielded ancient yet sturdy spears and stone axes, and each step they took caused the Daichi to tremble. Some even led enormous magical beasts.
The giants were covered in strange patterns that spread across their bodies like cracked glass, giving them an immense and unparalleled power.
"After all this concealment, we've still been spotted? No, these giants gathered here on their own initiative. Trouble. Do they already know our exact location?"
Bai Mo frowned. These giants weren't as fast as Fafnir; they couldn't possibly keep up with his speed. They could only know his destination, or perhaps their target wasn't him at all.
The patterns shone brightly, and the giants all let out a heart-wrenching roar. Then, the power of 400,000 to 500,000 horses surged from each giant's body.
"The strong infuse their power into it, activating it when needed, and even using it as a bomb when necessary. If the one who created this was a giant, then he would truly be a clever and ruthless individual."
Bai Mo could easily sense the flow of energy within it. This was because the giant's body was strong and large; if it were a human, they would have exploded and died long ago.
A faint female voice came from behind, sounding somewhat weak.
"Are you the reinforcements that woman mentioned? Step back a bit, I'll bring you in."
Ortlinde's eyes flickered; the voice sounded somewhat familiar, making her instinctively want to obey. The other party was undoubtedly a Northern Europe deity. But after glancing at Bai Mo, she decided to listen to him anyway.
"There's no need; it'll be over soon."
Although these giants don't seem to have much brains, letting them roam freely at the entrance isn't a good thing; they'll have to be dealt with sooner or later.
Bai Mo channeled his power into Enlil's divine core. In an instant, a vortex of wind spread out from him like a bird spreading its wings, and dozens of vortices of the Heaven and Earth Sea Tiger Sword appeared. The two wind forces rubbed against each other rapidly, Vacuum Sword Blade crisscrossed and shot out.
Like a battlefield on the front lines, the Vacuum Sword Blade were everywhere, and the scene before us instantly turned into a meat grinder.
"Amazing..." Ortlinde watched this scene, her eyes gleaming. As Valkyrie, the Titans were her mortal enemies.
Nothing could excite her more than watching her former enemies fall before her like wheat.
"These guys probably won't be reborn like Fafnir, right?"
Those Fafnir were weaker than these giants, but they were far superior in both strength control and speed. What's more, they had the ability to resurrect themselves using their souls, making them extremely troublesome.
"No, evil dragons are formed from accumulated sins, but giants are normal Phantasmal Species."
Ortlinde shook her head, then looked at the spot where the giants had fallen, her heart skipping a beat for no apparent reason. Then, the goddess's voice rang out again:
"Those giants aren't just attacking; they're building an altar with corpses. But with that kind of firepower, they can't set up anything decent."
Under the barrage of attacks from the Sea Tiger Heaven and Earth Sword, even getting close was extremely difficult, let alone setting up a defense.
Just as the giants fell in heaps, and Bai Mo and the others thought the end was near, a tremor came from the Daichi. A giant whose body seemed to be made of volcanic rock strode in, wielding a flint axe, and leaped dozens of miles in one bound.
The giant leaped down, but Bai Mo didn't even glance at it. The Heaven and Earth Sea Tiger Sword, obeying the command of the soldiers, simultaneously rose, and the Vacuum Sword Blade instantly shredded the giant who had jumped so high into pieces.
However, the giant in the air let out a triumphant roar, like a prisoner whose shackles had been broken. His fragments were blown to the ground like a gust of wind, and at the same time, the corpse of the dead giant emitted an earthy yellow light.
The rock giant, with only one head, let out its final cry:
"Hrungnir! Come! The enemy is here!"
From the Daichi, a giant hand nearly sixty meters long stretched out, as if an ancient being were reaching out from the abyss. It was a giant hand made of stone skin, radiating a powerful force of nine hundred thousand horsepower. Seeing that a person of sufficient skill had finally appeared, Bai Mo smiled and clenched his fist.
Hrungnir, in Northern Europe mythology, is considered the strongest warrior among the giants. In the myth, he traveled alone to Asgard to challenge Thor to a duel, and was ultimately killed by Thor, but Thor was also injured and never fully recovered.
Another theory is that the Hrungnir who fought Thor was a substitute created by giant priests using some of Hrungnir's stone armor and the heart of a mare.
Currently, it seems more likely that the latter will be the case in this development.
The light emanating from the corpses of the dead giants flowed towards this place, but most of it was consumed in the process. Finally, the hand seemed to clench its fist in annoyance, absorbing soil from the Daichi before it finally emerged.
"The altar wasn't even finished; there's only one hand?"
Ortlinde grabbed the spear in her hand. The summoning was incomplete, but this hand was also alive, a flawed life born from the Descent spell.
"That's considered good luck. Although it can't be destroyed without destroying the core, this thing doesn't have much time left."
The goddess on the other side seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, and Bai Mo also let out a breath.
"That's certainly good news. Although I don't have the memory of Ragnarok, I do remember that Hrungnir was a powerful frost giant. Thankfully, we stopped them at the beginning."
Ortlinde breathed a sigh of relief, but soon, Bai Mo's somewhat dissatisfied click of the tongue rang out:
"Tsk, I should have let them finish the altar."
"Huh?"
Before Ortlinde could react, Bai Mo's figure vanished in an instant, his giant hand and forearm merging with the Daichi at an astonishing speed.
With lightning speed, the stone fist came hurtling towards her, the powerful gale almost tearing Ortlinde's eardrums apart, but the remaining vortex around her protected her.
The Daichi trembled, and a deafening roar, as if splitting the heavens and earth, resounded. Ortlinde could no longer see Bai Mo's figure; instead, she saw a gigantic Killer Whale crash into Hrungnir's hand.
The Daichi trembled, and a powerful shockwave leveled the distant, dark mountains. The Hand of Hrungnir was blasted into fragments. At the wrist joint, a brightly colored clod of earth remained.
That's it!
Ortlinde acted decisively, unleashing all her power, and the pseudo-god's declaration transformed into a streak of light. At the same time, Bai Mo waved his hand, and the Magnetic Field Heavenly Blade cleaved through the aftershocks, allowing the spear to penetrate deeply.
Just a moment later, the giant hand regrouped some of its power, and five black, claw-like rocks extended out, gripping the spear. Soil surged up, attempting to engulf it. Seeing her rare opportunity about to slip away, Ortlinde was frantic with worry.
With a determined look, she flew directly through the passage Bai Mo had created with his Magnetic Field Heavenly Blade. Bai Mo frowned, surprised that the usually sluggish Ortlinde would take such a risk.
With a wave of his hand, the Magnetic Field Heavenly Blade protected Ortlinde like a deep-sea whirlpool, while the wind generated by Enlil propelled her forward at high speed.
Ortlinde grabbed the somewhat dim pseudo-God's Declaration and charged forward with all her might. Bai Mo reached out and slapped it, and the indestructible stone claw instantly turned into powder.
It pierced the earth and rocks, yet made a sound like it was piercing flesh. The Hand of Hrungnir, which had just been shining, instantly turned into lifeless mud and sand, scattering on the ground.
"You guys are really reckless, but... this is still a victory, ha, it's been a long time since we've had one."
A door behind them opened, revealing a lush, vibrant green lawn.
