Stage actors
Even after the Bai Mo and the Queen of Sheba were moved away, nothing was quiet on the Salem stage. Prosecutor Hopkins, watching the two suddenly disappear from the prison cell, frowned deeply.
"Oh no, could this guy really be a real witch...?"
Looking at the neatly arranged cells, Hopkins felt a chill run down his spine. He heard footsteps approaching and quickly asked what had happened. Hopkins glanced at him, then ordered:
"The prison cells along this road are sealed off. The official word is that the witch is dead, and this place is cursed by her. No one is allowed to approach. That female slave was from Abigail's family. I remember a theater troupe recently moved into that house, right?"
The guards nodded to each other, and then Hopkins continued to give orders:
"One group of men, follow me to hunt down the girl named Abigail. The rest of you lie in ambush near her house and wait until their performance is over before leaving to make the arrest."
Meanwhile, find a few clever men in the taverns and have them spread the word: that troupe is an organization harboring a witch. Seal off this area; no one is allowed to enter without my order. Assemble in the square in ten minutes.
After giving the order, Hopkins didn't go anywhere else for the next ten minutes. Instead, he went to his room, took the scriptures from his cabinet, revealing an inconspicuous hidden compartment, fiddled with it for a while, and then opened it.
Inside were bags, each containing a crumpled verdict. Besides that, there was a pile of gleaming Spanish silver dollars. Taking out two dollars and rubbing them between my fingers, the jingling sound these adorable little things made was like the most beautiful music in the world.
Ten minutes passed, then Hopkins sighed, put the bag back, and took the verdict from the top. He took a short knife from another drawer, wrapped in a leather sheath—his tool for identifying witches.
Watching the cheers from the Salem residents inside the church, Hopkins spat dismissively and walked down the stairs.
Meanwhile, in the Imaginary Number Space on the other side, Bai Mo looked at the Queen of Sheba true name, a hint of surprise in his eyes. The Queen of Sheba tossed her long, wavy brown hair and laughed:
"What's wrong? Are you surprised?"
"That was indeed somewhat unexpected..."
The Queen of Sheba put her hands on her hips with a hint of pride. It seemed she did have some fame. Although the person in front of her didn't seem to be Magecraft, he must have some knowledge of magic and should have heard of her.
"Queen of Sheba, I recall in the description you had a pair of woolly hooves?"
"Which bastard is slandering me? Didn't Solomon even keep the most basic records? So I really was... And isn't your focus a bit strange? Is my legend less valuable than this unofficial history?"
Bai Mo turned his head away, his intuition telling him that if he continued, he might further anger the woman in front of him.
On the other side, Dr. Roman from Chaldea also told him not to worry about such a trivial matter, but there was almost a hint of pleading in his words, as if if Bai Mo continued to talk, his salary would vanish like snowflakes.
"Alright, it's just that I didn't expect this. Well, compared to those legendary transgender figures, this is a good development for you. Since you have a close relationship with King Solomon, you must know a lot about this Singularity."
The Chaldea are performing in the church theater to cover for you. If possible, I'd like to talk about it as we leave.
Upon hearing Bai Mo's words, the Queen of Sheba nodded.
"It is indeed extremely urgent. Although it is in the Imaginary Number Space, there are still mediums available here." The Queen of Sheba lifted the body of Tituba beside her to the front.
"Mr. Bai Mo, you've noticed too, haven't you? The town of Salem isn't the place where the witch trial took place in 1962. At least that prosecutor Hopkins wasn't from that era at all; it's a stage created entirely by Raum."
"Why go to all that trouble to create a stage that can distort time and space? What exactly is Raum trying to do?"
Bai Mo asked with some doubt, "Logically speaking, since the Incineration of Humanity the Goetia, it should have been destroyed. Shouldn't these guys, who were lucky enough to escape with their lives, just find a quiet place to lie down?"
The Queen of Sheba also looked troubled, and she covered her head as she said:
"I feel like most of these Demon God have been infected by that machine-like guy Solomon. Their minds are only focused on executing orders, and their motives aren't hard to guess—it's probably something like saving humanity..."
Upon hearing these four words, Bai Mo and the Queen of Sheba exchanged a glance, both seeing the speechless look in each other's eyes.
As the Queen of Sheba's Magecraft began to work, a small hole appeared. The Queen of Sheba turned somewhat awkwardly to Bai Mo and asked:
"Um, I'm running low on mana. Even though dealing with Raum was just a matter of lifting a finger, he expended so much mana to teleport me here. And now I'm just a Servant without Master..."
Before she could finish speaking, Bai Mo took out a handful of dazzling magic crystals from Gilgamesh's treasury. Looking at the golden ripples, the Queen of Sheba sniffed, as if she had smelled a delicious delicacy.
"Mr. Bai Mo, are you perhaps a very wealthy man? If so, I have quite a few products I can recommend to you."
"Wealth means nothing to me, but I have a group of friends who have set up an observatory, so you should be very welcome."
"Wait!" Dr. Roman clapped his hands, but before he could finish speaking, Olga Marie's voice drowned him out.
"Of course you're welcome! Please come to Chaldea! Someone beat me to it in our last negotiation with Skadi, but this time I'll show you my true strength!"
Upon hearing Olga Marie's words, Bai Mo nodded to the Queen of Sheba, who readily agreed with shining eyes. The light flowing within the magic crystal gradually faded, and soon, a path was distorted in the Imaginary Number Space, allowing the two to pass through.
"Can you set the location? Or can you directly locate Raum's position? Let's go and take care of it."
"It was made up like an actor, but that's okay, we just need to screen it step by step. What I'm worried about now is that prosecutor Hopkins."
Hopefully, Chaldea has made the necessary preparations.
"You can rest assured about that; there are reliable people among them."
The two figures vanished, and immediately after they left, a strange ripple seemed to appear on the Sea of Imaginary Numbers. The brilliant rainbow spectrum twisted and gradually took the shape of an eye, watching the spot where the two had left.
