An Infant's Desire
High on a hill far from Norwich, Melusine brought Lancelot down. Looking at the enormous Clan Bell beside him, Lancelot couldn't help but feel puzzled and confused.
"Um, Miss Melusine, if I may be so bold... I am very grateful to Aurora I lost my memory, and I am willing to fight for her..."
But what exactly does she want this big clock for?
Melusine gave Lancelot a very unfortunate smile, paused, and then explained in a serious tone, "Aurora must have her reasons for doing this, right?"
"Stop doubting so much, Sino."
"Is that so... I completely fail to understand, but Aurora is a woman of great wisdom, and there must be a deeper meaning behind her trip."
Looking at the knight before her, Melusine felt both amused and pathetic. She couldn't help but think to herself, "You'd be a fool to understand. No one could possibly imagine Aurora's true nature!"
"Forget it, compared to that, when did Norwich ever have such a master? I've never seen anyone with such exquisite swordsmanship. And... there was also a master hidden in the Bell-Striking Hall at the time. Just a moment ago, I had a feeling that I was going to be pierced through."
"Really... these clan chiefs all look unremarkable, it turns out they've been hiding their true abilities."
"Melusine said worriedly. She wasn't very optimistic about the future. These clan chiefs didn't dare to utter a word when Morgan was in power, but after Morgan disappeared, they realized how many tricks these people really had up their sleeves."
Compared to them, Aurora, despite possessing her strongest knight, is practically devoid of anything else.
"Forget it, even if the worst happens, we can just take her with us."
"Melusine said softly. She turned around without looking back, preparing to leave, but Norwich behind her suddenly unleashed a tremendous force, like a meteor falling into the city, accompanied by a powerful curse."
"What's wrong?"
Lancelot was shocked, while Melusine seemed unfazed, silently putting on her helmet as if discussing the weather.
"Calamity has struck. Looks like our luck isn't so good. If we had waited another half hour, we could have taken advantage of the chaos to steal this broken clock."
"Calamity?! The Calamity that destroyed Norwich? And so quickly."
Lancelot drew his sword from his waist. Seeing this, Melusine looked puzzled. "What are you doing? You're not thinking of going to support Norwich, are you?"
"Shouldn't we go? A city is facing annihilation; as a knight, we cannot simply stand by and do nothing!"
"To Norwich, we're the thieves who just stole the Clan Bell, and besides, Aurora didn't ask for our support on this trip."
Go back. Norwich can't be saved. Don't waste your life here, Sino. Don't forget who gave you your current identity.
Melusine put on her mask, then picked up the Clan Bell. Her petite frame was vastly different from the bell, which was the size of a cart, but it seemed as light as a feather in her hands.
At the gates of Norwich, Ritsuka and Caster's group had just arrived when the massive Calamity erupted the moment Caster stepped into Norwich Norwich, leaving her momentarily bewildered as to what was happening.
Just now, the Bell-Striking Hall suddenly exploded, seemingly struck by a beam of light, leaving only broken walls and smoldering smoke. Before we could even confirm the situation, Norwich's Calamity suddenly erupted.
"I never expected this to happen. What on earth happened, Oberon?"
Caster asked the intelligence officer beside him, while Oberon, looking dazed, seemed equally confused. He summoned his mount, which rapidly shrank in size, and addressed the group:
"Although I don't know what happened either, the reality is that the Calamity of Norwich has struck, but considering that our goal was to ring the bell, now we may not even have the bell anymore."
I'm going to track that blue light. You guys better find a chance to leave quickly!
"Huh? Leave? Didn't we come here to save Norwich?"
Caster wanted to ask more questions, but Oberon had already mounted his mount and disappeared like a shooting star. Oberon had previously said that in this miniature form, he could reach speeds of Mach 6 and could Britain in no time.
But he didn't answer Artoria's question; rather, perhaps there was no need to ask it in the first place?
Their goal was to save Norwich and gain the approval of Clan Chief Aurora and the Earth Clan by ringing both Pilgrimage Bell at once, but now it's clear that the Earth Clan's bell has disappeared.
Compared to dealing with that seemingly troublesome Calamity incarnation and completing Aurora's verbal promise of the Wind Clan Bell, pursuing the distant Earth Clan Bell seems more cost-effective.
Isn't it obvious? Only a fool would offer help without expecting anything in return; who would do a job without any compensation?
"What should we do?" Caster asked Ritsuka, Ritsuka narrowed her eyes slightly.
She hadn't forgotten her original purpose. This time, she wasn't in this Lostbelt to save the fairies of Britain, but to resolve the Collapse and, incidentally, fulfill a certain contract.
Although she is currently acting as part of the savior team, playing opposite the unknown Mr. Oberon in order to gather information about this world, she is very clear about the purpose of this trip.
"If things really come to a head, we should retreat. It may sound harsh, but we have no obligation to save these guys. But before that, I want to assess the threat level of the Norwich Calamity. If Calamity can tear Britain in two, then we'll have to intervene."
"Hmm... that's true. Since we're already here, we should at least take a look."
Tristan picked up Ritsuka and grabbed Caster, moving swiftly like a swallow through the Norwich house. Soon, they saw the enormous creature, which looked like a mountain rising from the sea, with countless giant hands wrapped around it and a pair of antlers like pillars supporting the sky.
"Calamity is coming! Run!"
"Oh my god, what did I do wrong? I was only ten years away from paying off my mortgage!"
"Why did Spriggan have to disappear at this crucial moment? Damn it, do they even deserve the money we paid?!"
The fairies kept fleeing, not because the Calamity was slowly but surely approaching—they couldn't hold out until it arrived—but because with the Calamity's appearance, countless Mors were springing up like mushrooms after rain.
The street literally turned into Hell, Mors could transform into fairies with just a touch. In an instant, it seemed like the scene from some kind of zombie movie.
"The number is terrifying, Master. Let's leave. If we delay any longer, the city gates will be blocked by the crowds, and it will be difficult to leave."
"Yes, the scale of this thing has been confirmed, Caster. Hold on tight, we need to..."
However, before the words were finished, a voice was heard in the distance. It was a delicate shout, and a figure suddenly descended from the sky, wielding a giant shield, and rampaged through the Mors horde.
"Child of Prophecy of Sheffield, of prophecy! We have come to resolve the Norwich Calamity by ringing the Pilgrimage Bell!"
The Fang Clan behind the knight shouted, then grabbed their weapons and followed the Child of Prophecy, while Ritsuka's eyes were fixed on the large shield the knight was waving.
That shield, without a doubt.
