Background / History

Chaldea and the Russian Lostbelt

Ritsuka survived Lev’s explosion by chance, while the A-Team—the intended main force for Spiritron Transfer—was believed to have perished. She subsequently shouldered Chaldea’s mission to save the world. When the resurrected A-Team became enemies of Pan-Human History, she wanted to understand their decision firsthand 382.

In Russia, she attempted to summon reinforcements using the Spirit Origin Graph in a cave containing magical ore. When a giant magical beast endangered the summoning apparatus, she had Mash throw her toward it and continued the incantation at close range. Bai Mo destroyed the beast before it could kill her. Ritsuka initially mistook him for her acquaintance Bai Ermo; the Servant she had actually summoned was Caster Zhang Jue 371.

During the operation against the Kremlin, Ritsuka coordinated Yaga evacuations, mapped the streets and magical-energy flow, and used Spirit Origin Shadows to create diversions. Her confrontation with Kadoc became a coordinated ambush involving the Count of Monte Cristo and Atalanta. After an unidentified speed wielder rescued Kadoc, she used a Command Spell to escape Asterios’s approaching labyrinth 382.

Ritsuka later divided Chaldea’s forces to infiltrate the palace and sever the Fantasy Root’s connection to Ivan the Terrible 391. Inside the Kremlin, a priest trapped her in an illusion and confronted her with the consequences of destroying a Lostbelt. She declared that she would reclaim Pan-Human History and personally bear the sin of destroying the world before her. The priest broadcast her answer throughout the Lostbelt, turning even former allies’ gazes against her. Atalanta, unable to choose between Pan-Human History and the local children, relinquished her boar pelt and returned to the Archer class 399.

Return to Chaldea and Salem

After Russia, Ritsuka helped restore Chaldea’s lively atmosphere and noticed Atalanta’s growing distance from her 409. She also used the Relic Café as a transfer point to resolve minor Singularities confirmed to contain no Magnetic Field Power 419.

In Salem, Ritsuka and her Servants suffered severe power suppression and lost contact with Chaldea. She fought alongside Robin Hood until Bai Mo arrived as reinforcement 496. Despite the troupe’s unpaid performances and assistance to residents, the townspeople supported Hopkins’s attempt to arrest them. Ritsuka remained defiant at gunpoint, but Hopkins wounded her arm with a dagger 505.

During the ghoul outbreak, she refused to rescue a man she condemned for knowingly framing an innocent person, then organized her Servants into a coordinated defense and evacuation effort 508. Later, despite Bai Mo’s warning about Nyarlathotep, she refused to abandon him 513.

Great Qin and Blue Country

Ritsuka accompanied Bai Mo into the Great Qin Lostbelt with the Spirit Origin Graph, intending to summon Servants suited to local circumstances rather than simply bring the strongest available fighters 520. She also persistently approached Hinako Akuta as a Chaldean senior, despite Hinako’s hostility 531.

In Blue Country, an AI chat interface on a game console exposed Ritsuka to the Book of Lu Ban’s Soul-Bewitching Method. Xu Fu identified the sorcery and cleared her mind with a talisman 540. During the conflict with the Dream-Creating Beast Group, Ritsuka disrupted enemies with lightning, but could not escape Qin Hong’s subsequent attack without Bai Mo’s intervention 558.

Her objections to Qin Shi Huang’s rule centered on human freedom. She argued to Qin Liangyu that ordinary people should be allowed to pursue better lives, and later challenged whether people under the emperor’s total control could still be considered people rather than puppets 566 571.

Against Xiang Yu, Ritsuka connected the bonds stored in the Spirit Origin Graph to Blue Country’s computer network, helping bring allied Servants into the conflict. She directed the effort to destroy his Command Spell container and later worked with Liu Bang to summon twenty-nine Avengers, including Fan Zeng and twenty-eight Chu soldiers 579 581 582 585. The resulting magical-energy expenditure left her recovering afterward; Kadoc and Ophelia volunteered to handle the next Singularity in her place 604.

The Ooku

When the supposedly minor Singularity defeated Chaldea’s advance teams, Ritsuka entered the Ooku equipped with defensive Mystic Codes. She planned to summon after arrival to avoid having her Servants separated from her by the bounded field. Kiara Sessyoin joined her and eventually remained behind against Kama to send Ritsuka and her companions to safety 606 607.

On the return expedition, Ritsuka helped investigate the Tokugawa shoguns’ inro and collect the hanafuda cards needed to oppose Kama 612 617. Kama nevertheless exploited her desire to rescue her companions as another route for Tokugawafication. Ritsuka resisted by repeating her name and identity as the last Master of the Human Order, but the encroachment eventually left her unable to speak 619 620 621.

After recovering, Ritsuka directed Scheherazade and Parvati to turn anti-Tokugawa factors into weapons modeled on Little Boy and Fat Man. The first strike injured Kama and disrupted her connection to the Ooku. Ritsuka and Parvati later launched the second weapon because Ritsuka mistakenly believed Bai Mo was being brainwashed; she could neither see nor hear his attempt to persuade Kama to leave peacefully 624 625 627.

With Kama defeated, Ritsuka joined the search for the trapped A-Team members—bringing a camera to record their embarrassing behavior under Tokugawafication 628.

India

Ritsuka attempted to reach the Indian Lostbelt’s Arjuna by sharing memories of their earlier encounters and their time fighting together at Chaldea. He dismissed those memories as “trivialities.” Although her appeal failed, it bought time for the Shadow Border’s escape preparations 635.

After Bai Mo and Kama became allies, Ritsuka accepted their new relationship almost immediately upon noticing evidence of a Master–Servant contract. She compared the abrupt change to her own experiences with Dantès and encouraged the others not to dwell on it 750.

Fairy Britain

The Shadow Border’s arrival left Ritsuka stranded in the Nameless Forest with amnesia. She instinctively called for Mash despite no longer remembering her, and recovered her own name from an employee ID 764. After escaping the forest, she recruited Artoria Caster with an offer of 160 million QP and five Holy Grails. She also learned that Oberon’s account of being summoned by the Counter Force was false, but continued using his local knowledge to search for her missing companions 770 836.

At Norwich, Ritsuka abandoned retreat when she saw Mash in danger. She had Tristan launch her toward Mash and used a Command Spell during their effort to push back the calamity 777 778 779. Later, while searching northern Britain, her group’s earnings became worthless through inflation. Their theft of chocolate from Knocknarea’s fields led to their detention, which Bai Mo resolved by negotiating compensation 797.

On Orkney, Beryl’s ritual drained Ritsuka’s life force until she was bleeding from her eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. She nevertheless continued toward Mash’s crystal prison with Caster’s help. They freed Mash before Bai Mo restored Ritsuka’s strength and carried them away 810.

Ritsuka later faced attempts by Fang Clan fairies to seize her and an attack from Beryl after Mash rejected him. Mash blocked Beryl’s final lunge, accidentally killing him with her shield 819 828. During the later battle against Britain’s calamities, Ritsuka asked Melusine to leave the Abyssal Worm to Chaldea’s group 855.

Appearance

  • Orange hair: Explicitly described when Bai Mo rescues her in the Russian cave 371.
  • Russian combat uniform: A short-skirted outfit she wears again before entering Great Qin 519.
  • Standard Chaldea uniform: A white combat uniform worn for her deployment into the Ooku 606.

Personality

Ritsuka is sociable, persistent, and comfortable dealing with difficult Servants. She treats Hinako Akuta’s hostility as something patience and attentive care can overcome, later openly admitting that she is trying to win her senior over 531 599. Her friendliness does not make her indiscriminately trusting: she knowingly relies on Oberon while discounting his lies and retaining the Count of Monte Cristo’s assistance in judging him 770 836.

She usually remains decisive under pressure, even while facing enemies far beyond her personal strength. Against Kadoc, she uses herself as bait while arranging Atalanta’s attack; against Qin Hong, she continues deploying Spirit Origin Shadows to gather information despite recognizing that victory is impossible 382 558. Her composure can collapse when Mash is endangered, prompting unusually reckless attempts to reach her 777 778 810.

Her compassion has firm limits. She accepts responsibility for the deaths caused by restoring Pan-Human History, refuses to rescue a malicious accuser in Salem, and employs historically devastating weapon concepts when she believes Chaldea’s survival requires them 399 508 624. At the same time, Salem’s cruelty does not make her reject humanity as a whole; she explicitly remembers the help she has received throughout her journey 507.

Ritsuka also enjoys teasing and maneuvering her seniors. She assigns Kadoc exhausting resource-gathering work through an appeal for help, plans to preserve photographs of the A-Team’s embarrassing moments, and mixes sincere reassurance with calculated opportunities to grow closer to Hinako 496 628. Beyond her duties, she hopes to open a bakery once her work with the Human Order is finished 836.

Abilities & Skills

Servant Command and Tactics

Ritsuka’s principal strength is coordinating Heroic Spirits rather than matching Magnetic Field powerhouses directly 519 524.

  • Assigns specialized battlefield roles, including reconnaissance, artillery, protection, treatment, and interception 508.
  • Combines concealment, decoys, supporting magecraft, and ranged Servant attacks against enemy Masters 382.
  • Identifies useful enemy attributes and seeks corresponding special-attack effects, particularly against Kama’s many overlapping traits 609 618.
  • Can achieve decisive results with unfamiliar support: Caster’s first battle under her command becomes an overwhelming victory 770.

Summoning and Spirit Origin Graph

The Spirit Origin Graph preserves connections used to summon Heroic Spirits and is crucial to Chaldea’s continued operations 371 579.

  • Summons Zhang Jue in Russia without a catalyst; Dantès attributes the selection to the Counter Force’s intervention 371.
  • Carries the Graph into Lostbelts to obtain locally suitable Servants 520.
  • Transfers its stored bonds into Blue Country’s leyline-linked computer network to influence a large-scale summoning operation 579.
  • Works with Liu Bang to summon twenty-nine Avengers, using Command Spell energy and the Graph 585.
  • Sustains an exceptionally demanding multi-Servant battle, but requires recovery afterward; the strain causes intense heat and pain throughout her Magic Circuits 585 604.

Spirit Origin Shadows

  • Deploys multiple shadows to bombard the Kremlin’s outer walls and draw attention away from an evacuation 382.
  • Uses them to investigate enemy activity when defeating the opponent is no longer realistic 558.
  • Fights alongside Tristan through shadow deployment at Norwich, though the expenditure is greater than she expects 777.

Magecraft and Command Spells

  • Disruption: Uses her Mystic Code to briefly daze a giant magical beast 371.
  • Defense and reinforcement: Creates a faint golden membrane around Dantès and later reinforces Qin Liangyu during an opening against Xiang Yu 382 582.
  • Concealment and signals: Employs paper talismans to raise wind and dust and coordinate with Atalanta 382.
  • Binding: Uses horn-assisted black magical bullets to restrain wolves for Robin Hood’s arrows 496.
  • Lightning: Disrupts Dream Creators during the battle with Qin Hong’s forces 558.
  • Privacy: Establishes anti-eavesdropping magecraft before discussing Oberon’s deception 770.
  • Command Spells: Boosts Dantès’s speed to escape Asterios, supplies energy for mass summoning, and supports Mash against the Norwich calamity 382 585 779.

Reconnaissance and Investigation

  • Maps city streets, magical-energy flow, and the Kremlin walls’ unusual durability while managing evacuees 382.
  • Gathers intelligence with Reines in Blue Country and forwards it to Chaldea for analysis 566.
  • Collects Tokugawa inro and proposes examining them for clues to Kama’s choice of the Ooku 612.

Limitations

  • Cannot reliably react to attacks from top-tier Magnetic Field wielders; Qin Hong’s nine-hundred-thousand-horsepower strike would have killed her without Bai Mo’s intervention 558.
  • Remains vulnerable to environmental suppression, magical-energy exhaustion, and life-force-draining rituals 496 604 810.
  • Can suffer mental interference: Xu Fu must remove the Soul-Bewitching Method, while Kama’s Tokugawafication eventually overwhelms her ability to speak 540 621.
  • Depends on companions, equipment, and preparation to survive threats that vastly exceed a human body’s endurance 606 620.

Equipment / Items

  • Spirit Origin Graph: A high-precision briefcase used for summoning and maintaining access to Chaldea’s accumulated bonds 371 579.
  • Combat uniforms and Mystic Codes: Provide combat-support magecraft; she layers defensive Mystic Codes for the Ooku expedition 371 519 606.
  • Paper talismans: Used for concealment and battlefield signaling 382.
  • Magical horn: Assists the binding bullets she uses in Salem 496.
  • Mercury-like defensive ring: A gift from Qin Shi Huang, worn during her deployment into the Ooku 606.
  • Hanafuda cards and Tokugawa Yoshinobu’s inro: Ooku countermeasures carrying anti-Tokugawa power; their protection becomes insufficient against Kama’s full encroachment 619 620 621.
  • Camera: Brought during the Ooku rescue operation to document her seniors’ embarrassing moments 628.

Relationships

  • Mash — Servant and closest field companion. Ritsuka repeatedly risks her life to reach or rescue her, while Mash instinctively places herself between Ritsuka and danger 777 778 810 828.
  • Bai Mo — Trusted ally whom she affectionately calls “Brother Bai.” He repeatedly rescues her, and she refuses to abandon him during the Salem crisis. Their exchanges frequently involve teasing 371 496 513 558.
  • Bai Ermo — An acquaintance whose resemblance to Bai Mo causes Ritsuka to embrace the latter by mistake. She defends her own contribution as support when discussing her journey with Bai Ermo 371 498.
  • Count of Monte Cristo / Dantès — Avenger companion and protector. He fights beside her in Russia, assists her escape from Asterios, and can act freely within her heart 371 382 836.
  • Atalanta — Ally whose concern for Lostbelt children creates a painful conflict with Ritsuka’s mission. Ritsuka notices her distance afterward and asks Bai Mo to check on her 399 409 410.
  • Kadoc Zemlupus — Chaldean senior, initially an enemy who attacks her legitimacy as humanity’s savior. He later undertakes her resource-gathering assignments and volunteers to let her rest after the Xiang Yu battle 382 496 604.
  • Hinako Akuta — Difficult senior whom Ritsuka persistently tries to befriend. They fight together, attempt summoning together, and grow closer through Ritsuka’s attentive—sometimes calculated—care 531 558 599 628.
  • Xu Fu — Ally who removes Ritsuka’s mental curse and whose death-escaping Noble Phantasm enables a crucial maneuver against Xiang Yu 540 581.
  • Qin Liangyu — Friend and battlefield ally. Their discussion in the baths contrasts Qin Liangyu’s restraint with Ritsuka’s defense of ordinary people’s right to better lives 566 582.
  • Dr. Roman — Mission support and emotional counselor. He helps Ritsuka process Salem’s cruelty without losing perspective on humanity 399 507.
  • Kiara Sessyoin — Dangerous but valuable ally who protects Ritsuka by sending her out of Kama’s fifth-floor trap 606 607 608.
  • Kasuga-no-Tsubone — Ooku companion who encourages Ritsuka through Tokugawafication and comes to regard protecting her in maternal terms 621 623.
  • Kama — Initially an enemy seeking Ritsuka’s corruption as a condition for completing her emergence. Ritsuka later readily accepts Kama’s alliance with Bai Mo 620 750.
  • Artoria Caster — Recruited companion and friend. Ritsuka recognizes her support talent, encourages her when discouraged, and shares her own modest post-mission dream after learning Caster’s ambitions 770 777 836.
  • Tristan — Servant who protects Ritsuka and supports her efforts to reunite with Mash, including launching her toward the battlefield with his bowstring 770 777 778.
  • Oberon — Intelligence source whose deception Ritsuka recognizes. She continues cooperating because his knowledge remains useful, rather than because she believes his account 770 836.
  • Lancelot — Servant whom she permits to repay Aurora’s hospitality, reasoning that forcing him into dishonor would burden his sword. Her understanding strengthens his loyalty 781.
