A night in the cottage
The Starry Night enveloped everything, and Bai Mo felt himself falling, but gravity pulled him from all directions, making it impossible for him to tell where he was falling. With a splash, he plunged into water that looked like chocolate mousse.
Two small, delicate hands embraced him, pulling him deeper into the water. Bai Mo closed his eyes, letting the water carry him as he sank.
With a splash, he broke through the water's surface and breathed in the air again. Although he was probably dreaming, the feeling of falling into the water was very vivid.
A girl's voice came from beside me, and I saw Abigail wearing a dark purple swimsuit, as if she were swimming.
"You can't fall into the pool in normal clothes, otherwise you'll have to go back in your swimsuit, right?"
"A swimming pool? It seems the facilities in Dreamland are quite comprehensive."
Bai Mo looked around, Abby, who was on his body, pouted somewhat discontentedly and said:
"When you're being hugged by a girl in a swimsuit, your first reaction is to look around at the swimming pool?"
As she spoke, she hugged him tightly, but what wasn't there was still nothing. The first place she felt the perfect muscular touch and body temperature of Bai Mo was her own ribs.
This was quite a blow to her. Bai Mo smiled and ruffled her long golden hair, comforting her:
"Abigail will grow up to be a beautiful girl; for now, just be a lovely child... even though this kind of life is still very different from that of a normal child."
Upon hearing this, Abby's expression softened. With a wave of her hand, the swimming pool and her swimsuit vanished instantly, transforming back into her original shrine maiden attire and the library.
"You've already done this much? Abby is amazing."
"Hehe, you can praise me even more if you want."
A smug look appeared on the girl's face. Before she knew it, two cups of hot tea and some snacks had appeared on the table.
"Bai Mo, what's wrong? You seem to have something on your mind."
Bai Mo was slightly taken aback, then nodded. He then told Abigail about Bawan Xi's situation. Upon hearing her story, Abigail said with some indignation:
"Really, there are always those who hurt others because of prejudice or simply going with the flow. The fairies are one, and so are the residents of Salem."
And that man, wasn't his name Beryl? His selfish acts of harming others for personal gain reminded me of that despicable prosecutor, Hopkins.
Abigail recalled what she and her friends had gone through in Salem, being persecuted as witches, and she unconsciously clenched her little fists.
"When you graduate, Abby, you can bring Lavinia to visit me. I'll introduce you to Bavan Shi then; you two might become good friends."
"Oh, okay? Then I won't be polite. Bai Mo, you'll have to take responsibility for raising us. I'll take care of you when I grow up."
"I don't think I'm that badly off." Bai Mo smiled helplessly, but Abby's caring words still brought him a sense of comfort.
Is this the warmth of a daughter? No, I'm not married, so why am I being so sentimental?
Seemingly sensing Bai Mo's thoughts, Abby's smile curved into a subtle arc, and then she spoke in a low, somewhat somber voice:
"I will take good care of you, just like you are now accepting me. Then, please don't refuse; entrust the rest of your life to me..."
"... Abby?"
"It's nothing, it's the corruption of the soul, right? I just happened to see some books about it recently, hmm, let me look for them..."
The girl ran off like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, hopping and skipping towards the bookshelf, with Yog following her. As Abby searched through the books one by one, Yoghurt had already taken one down from the top.
"That's right, that's it! The fairy souls on Bai Mo's side are different from human souls. After they die, they become the next generation. But their integrity is not as good as that of a soul. If they suffer great physical trauma, they may not be able to transform again."
However, just like Bai Mo, who is an outsider with supernatural powers, there are ways to make up for it. Although there may be aftereffects of reincarnation, if one can survive this time, it can be basically ignored.
"I'll give you the method for analyzing fairy souls. Bai Mo, you should have this means of absorbing soul power, right?"
Abby handed Bai Mo an obscure page and pressed it to Bai Mo's chest. A large number of spells instantly flooded Bai Mo's mind, but the text was not in human language.
"We don't speak the language."
"It's fairy language. I can understand the writing here without being affected by language, but Bai Mo doesn't seem to be able to. Ugh... I've never learned fairy language either. Bai Mo, could you go over there and find someone to translate it for you?"
"Oh, I see. Thank you, Abby."
Do we need to thank each other?
The girl tilted her head as she spoke, and Bai Mo smiled and nodded upon hearing this. He put away the page of the spell and said to Abby:
"Since you can create a swimming pool in a dream, you should be able to create a kitchen too, right? You haven't eaten any Earth food here, have you? What would you like to eat? Like the same gravy potatoes and steak, plus bacon-wrapped roast chicken?"
Abby jumped excitedly onto Bai Mo, adding with a joyful expression, "And parfaits and pancakes too!"
After a while, Bai Mo opened his eyes. He felt the soft touch of a pillow behind his head, and heard faint breathing sounds on both sides. Looking closely, he saw a red figure and a white figure beside him. He immediately realized that he shouldn't be here, and he instantly disappeared to the window.
Bawan Xi was sleeping soundly in bed, while Morgan was startled awake by Bai Mo's sudden disappearance and asked in confusion:
"What's wrong?"
"What the hell? Why am I here? Weren't we just in the basement?"
Morgan tilted his head, somewhat puzzled, and said, "Didn't you say you'd take a nap? Shouldn't humans sleep in bed?"
"No... then what's going on with you guys?!"
"Keep your voice down, don't wake Bavanshi." Morgan glanced at the still-sleeping Bavanshi, made a shushing gesture to Bai Mo, and then said softly with a hint of reproach:
"Even fairies sleep in beds. It's just that there's only one bed in New Darlington Mansion. Is it really necessary to make such a commotion?"
"You are the one who should have some self-respect, as a woman and a queen."
Bai Mo really wanted to give Morgan a good whack on the head, but Morgan didn't give him a chance to continue the conversation and asked how things were going. Seeing this, Bai Mo had no choice but to put it out of his mind, and with a gesture in the air, Rune Runes a rune into a raven, transmitting all the spells in his mind to Morgan.
Morgan was taken aback at first, but then she immediately understood the mystery. She sat down at the table next to her, and a pale blue quill pen appeared out of nowhere, jotting down something. This brilliant Magecraft was currently concocting an antidote to save her beloved daughter.
"Oh, by the way, don't worry about me. If you still want to sleep, you can sleep a little longer."
"I think you should go get some sleep. Are you even thinking straight?"
"... Are all people in Pan-Human History this conservative? But don't apply human moral standards to fairies, okay? If you're not planning to sleep, I have a few questions for you, and I'll prepare some energizing tea."
Bai Mo sighed helplessly, but finally sat down in front of Morgan.
The candlelight burned slowly, the quill pen scratched softly on the parchment, and the soft breathing of Bawan Shina and the two men's hushed conversation added a touch of warmth to the otherwise chilly New Darlington.
