The wind blew across Ye Mo's face, making his eyelids twitch from the cold. He had just passed through the clouds and was still falling, but his right hand was already burning hot. The heat climbed up his arm, and it felt like an electric current was coursing through his skin.

He knew the Regenerative Phasing had been successful.

He also knew that Tony was still alive.

The signal he felt just now wasn't an illusion. Tony tapped his mask twice with his little finger, just like always. He was still holding on; he hadn't given up.

Ye Mo adjusted his posture, turned around in mid-air, and aimed at the roof of a half-collapsed office building on the ground. Using the momentum of his fall, he bent his knees and landed with a jolt that made his teeth ache. He crushed a cement slab under his foot, but he ignored it, steadied himself on one knee, and quickly scanned his surroundings.

A chaotic fight is taking place over in the square.

Thor stood in the center of the ruins, swinging Mjolnir with a whooshing sound. A bolt of lightning struck the Hammerhead head, and he swept it horizontally, creating an arc of electricity that sent more than a dozen Chitauri soldiers flying, their armor charred and smoking.

But there are too many enemies.

Three assault vehicles flanked Saul from the side street, their tracks crushing streetlights, their guns already aimed at Thor back. Further away, small squads of infantry crept up, ready to encircle and kill him.

Ye Mo immediately closed his eyes, spreading out his Mental Network. His mind was buzzing; the side effects of the Regenerative Phasing hadn't subsided, and his vision was slightly blurred at the edges. But he couldn't care less about that, and directly sent a stream of consciousness towards Thor:

"Twelve men to the right rear, prepare for a surprise attack."

The words had barely left his lips when he saw Thor abruptly turn around, his gaze sweeping over the spot where he was hiding. Their eyes met across the distance, and Thor didn't speak, only nodding slightly.

Ye Mo also raised his hand and made a gesture. "The safe zone is in the buildings on the east side. You take the lead in the attack, and I'll control the situation."

After saying that, he leaped off the roof and rushed forward, hugging the broken wall. The moment his feet touched the ground, he heard an explosion behind him. Turning around, he saw the assault vehicle firing. An energy blast hit the spot where he had just been standing, creating a pillar of fire as tall as a person.

He swore and quickened his pace.

Thor has already made a move.

He threw Mjolnir into the air and leaped up. The hammer spun faster in the air, causing the dark clouds to churn and thunder to roar. The second bolt of lightning was twice as thick as the first, striking directly into the handle of the hammer, engulfing his entire arm in electric light.

He roared and swung the hammer horizontally.

A fan-shaped wave of lightning exploded, sweeping away all enemies within a thirty-meter radius. Some were blown to pieces, while others twitched a few times before becoming still. Even the ground cracked, and asphalt churned up and fell back down like water.

Ye Mo's eyes twitched as he watched.

This guy really isn't afraid of getting tired, is he?

He quickly focused his mind, sensing the movement routes of the remaining enemies. Although he couldn't unleash his ultimate move, he could still disrupt their neural reactions. He locked onto three soldiers who were about to launch a sneak attack, and subtly delayed their judgment by a fraction of a second using Telepathy.

That's enough time.

Thor turned and kicked a nearby enemy away, then grabbed another's gun barrel and swung it like a club. A third man lunged at him with a knife, but was a fraction of a second too slow. Thor dodged him and struck him in the back with his hammer, leaving him motionless on the ground.

Ye Mo took a breath and leaned against the broken wall.

His right hand began to turn translucent again, and the veins were clearly visible. The Regenerative Phasing was still unstable; if he used it again, his entire arm might be gone. He dared not take the attack head-on and could only try to help Thor control the rhythm.

Just then, I caught a glimpse of movement in the smoke to my right.

He immediately shouted, "Two squads at three o'clock, with heavy firepower!"

The words had barely left his lips when Thor was already airborne. Mjolnir hovered above his head, crackling with arcs of electricity. He spread his arms wide, uttered a few words, and the sky split open in the next instant as seven or eight bolts of lightning struck down simultaneously, landing precisely among the enemy ranks.

Explosions rang out one after another, and fireballs exploded one after another.

When the smoke cleared, only wreckage remained on the ground.

Ye Mo breathed a sigh of relief and was about to look up at Thor when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his ribs. He had fallen quite hard, and with the backlash from his ability, he was now having trouble breathing. He leaned against the wall for a couple of seconds to catch his breath, then heard a sudden gust of wind above him.

Looking up, he saw Thor land and stand beside him.

"You've come at the right time," Thor said, his voice still booming. "These bugs are endless."

"They're not bugs, they're Chitauri," Ye Mo corrected. "And their target isn't us, it's that big guy up there."

"I know." Thor glanced at the sky. "Tony's over there?"

"Yes." Ye Mo nodded. "He's still alive, but no one can go up and help him now."

"Then let's clear out the area below first." Thor gripped his hammer. "Make sure they don't look up."

Ye Mo did not object.

He knew his biggest fear was that the ground war would drag on for too long. Once the mothership was fully charged, or if something happened to Tony, the entire New York would be doomed. The only thing he could do right now was to hold this area and prevent the enemy from advancing any further.

He took two steps back, climbed a broken staircase, and stood on the second-floor platform.

"I'll keep an eye on things for you," he said. "You're in charge of smashing things."

Thor grinned. "I like this division of labor."

Before the words were even finished, more aircraft emerged from the distance. This time it was a formation of five, diving in a V-shape, their cannons flashing red.

Ye Mo immediately scanned the trajectory and discovered that the target was the spot where Thor had just been standing.

He immediately shouted, "Get out of the way! It's three o'clock in the air!"

Thor leaped into the air, and as soon as he left the ground, a large crater was blasted into the spot where he had been standing. Using the momentum of his jump, he swung his hammer into the air. As the hammer flew, he himself ascended, and the next second, lightning struck, sending him crashing into the enemy formation like a cannonball.

The first plane disintegrated on the spot, the second was pierced by a hammer, and the third tried to turn, but Thor grabbed its wing, broke it off, and kicked it down, hitting the fourth plane.

The fifth plane was so frightened that it turned around and ran away.

Ye Mo stared at the direction it was flying and realized it was heading towards a residential building. There were still people there who hadn't evacuated.

Before he could even shout, he activated his Steel Bone Body. His skin instantly hardened, gleaming with a metallic sheen. He rushed to the center of the street, crossing his arms in front of him.

The moment the aircraft crashed into him, he was thrown back, his back slamming into the wall. Bricks and stones rained down, burying half of his body.

He coughed, and there was a metallic taste of blood in his mouth.

But the aircraft wasn't much better off; its nose was twisted and deformed, and it slid for more than ten meters before coming to a stop, emitting black smoke.

"Damn..." He wiped his mouth, "Why is this thing so heavy?"

As they were talking, a shadow fell overhead.

Thor descended, walked up to him, and reached out to help him up.

Ye Mo grabbed that hand and used it to stand up. His legs felt a little weak, but he didn't show it.

"Thank you," he said.

"You blocked it just in time," Thor said, looking at the wreckage. "They were trying to use civilians as cover."

"I know." Ye Mo flexed his wrist and noticed his right hand was starting to turn transparent again. "So we can't let them get any closer to the construction area."

"Then let's lock the battlefield in this plaza." Thor raised his hammer. "I'll clear the entrance."

"I'll go to the high ground," Ye Mo said, pointing to the collapsed roof of the shopping mall across the street. "I'll call you if anything happens."

Thor nodded and turned to walk towards the center of the square.

Ye Mo endured the pain as he climbed onto the ruins and found a relatively stable spot to sit down. He deployed his Mental Network to monitor the entire area. Although its range wasn't as large as Emma Frost's, it was sufficient to deal with the current number of enemies.

Thor stood in the middle of the open space and took a deep breath.

Then he raised Mjolnir high.

This time there was no shouting, no unnecessary movements. He simply stood there, hammer raised above his head, eyes fixed on the sky.

The wind suddenly stopped.

The clouds churned violently, as if stirred by something. A bolt of lightning, thicker than any before, struck down from the sky and pierced directly into the hammer handle.

Thor's body was enveloped in electricity, making him appear as if he had become the embodiment of lightning.

He slowly lowered his arm, the hammer held horizontally in front of his chest.

The next second, he suddenly swung his sword.

The electric grid exploded, spreading outwards from it. All Chitauri units that came into contact with it were paralyzed, their armor ripped apart, and their weapons malfunctioned. Even metal fragments on the ground were magnetized and stood upright.

Ye Mo sat on the roof, his hair standing on end due to static electricity.

He looked down at his hands.

The transparent parts are slowly returning to normal.

He breathed a sigh of relief.

It's still usable, at least.

He refocused his attention and scanned the battlefield.

There are no new enemy reports at this time.

He looked at Thor.

The man stood amidst the ruins, hammer on the ground, his chest heaving, yet he stood ramrod straight.

"Things are stable for now," Ye Mo said, his voice not loud, but loud enough to carry.

Thor looked up at him.

"It's not temporary," he said, "It must be held."

Ye Mo did not reply.

He knew Thor was right.

They are not fighting a battle.

They are racing against time.

As long as Tony is still up there, and as long as that nuclear bomb hasn't detonated, they'll have to stay here.

He touched his still-burning right hand.

The next wave of enemies will arrive soon.

He needs to be prepared.
