the Gym Leader of their city being replaced by a "temporary substitute" for a month was something they would hardly notice.
After all, their lives rarely overlapped.
But there were exceptions.
Probably because it was the first time in history that the Gym office had still been lit up after nightfall.
So when Tetsuya woke up the next day,
he discovered that the news of him serving as the temporary Gym Leader had already spread throughout Mauville City.
"Just how unreliable is Mr. Wattson normally for this to happen?"
When he arrived at the office, he complained to Watts.
The latter could only give an awkward laugh, offering no other response.
Fortunately,
it was nothing more than a minor interlude.
It would not have much of an impact on Tetsuya.
It might even make Mauville City's residents more cooperative with his work.
At least judging by the current feedback, quite a few residents were very welcoming of Tetsuya's arrival.
"Then I'm off to deal with the hurricane in the southern waters of Route 123.
"I'll continue reviewing the remaining work after I return.
"I'll leave the Gym to you for now, Watts."
With that said,
Tetsuya jumped straight out of the office window.
One of the Poke Balls at his waist opened automatically.
Red light gathered, vanishing only after Pidgeot steadily caught its Trainer.
Being a Gym Leader was still very convenient in one regard.
Within the city they were responsible for, they could release their Pokemon relatively freely.
Thus, in many cities, people would occasionally see their Gym Leader zoom past through the sky, then zoom back again.
In a sense,
it was also a way of monitoring whether the Gym Leader was doing their job properly.
