Heart fire
Although Wuleng was fifth rank, her Divine Sense was not particularly strong, falling short of what she needed to impart Method Formulas directly through Divine Sense.
She could only explain the Army-Breaking Sword to Zhou Wuji orally.
Fortunately, Zhou Wuji's attainment in the Army-Breaking Sword was extremely high. Wuleng only explained the fourth-rank cultivation method once before he understood it all.
The Army-Breaking Sword was a body-refining method, vastly different from the Northern Pole Sect's various Qi-refining methods.
At the fourth rank of Qi refining, the main task was to open the thirty-three acupoints along the spine and ascend the Thirty-Three Heavens.
The Army-Breaking Sword's body-refining method treated the spine as a great dragon. From tail to crown, each segment had to be refined before they could finally be linked into a single great dragon.
This great dragon governed all the True Qi, physical force, muscles, and sinews throughout the body, inside and out.
Body refining had clearly defined ranks: ninth-rank skin refining, eighth-rank sinew refining, seventh-rank bone tempering, sixth-rank organ refining, fifth-rank blood refining, and fourth-rank marrow refining.
Fourth-rank marrow refining was an extremely advanced body-refining realm. Even broken sinews and bones could recover swiftly. Even parts of missing limbs could regenerate.
Body refining was an important path for martial artists. At lower ranks, most began with body-refining methods, gradually improving their martial cultivation from the outside in.
Pure body refining, however, demanded too much talent, so most martial artists practiced body-refining methods alongside other methods.
Once martial artists formed their Qi Seas and advanced to the sixth rank, most switched to cultivating True Qi. Only a very few continued practicing body refining alongside it.
The Army-Breaking Sword followed the path of cultivating both magic and martial arts. It included methods for both Qi refining and body refining.
