The Transmigrated Slacker Transmigrated!
The sound of chains being moved rang out.
The "World Destroyer" on the throne lifted his eyelids. On the floor of the underground palace, a man was holding a...
A thick iron chain stretched out, the other end of which was bound to a terrified Polluted. He dragged the Polluted toward the throne.
The man was thin and handsome, standing tall and slender, easily two meters tall, but with a hunched back and a sleazy air. As soon as the "World Destroyer" on the throne opened his eyes, he flashed a fawning smile and tugged at the chains on his hands, "Master, this is the special Polluted you have recently found."
The person he was holding was a special Polluted.
The "World Destroyer" cast a cold glance at them, then flicked its finger resting on the throne. A piece of dark flesh flew out and into the mouth of the special Polluted. The flesh seemed alive, wriggling and burrowing into the Polluted's throat as soon as it touched the Polluted.
"Waaah... Uh..."
The Polluted struggled in agony, the Pollution gushing out of his body uncontrollably, but the monster on the throne and the tall, thin man paid it no heed.
"The quality is too poor." The World Destroyer lowered its gaze and coldly evaluated the Polluted on the ground, as if evaluating a cheap commodity.
The man— Gambler with mediocre taste—watched the Polluted's painful expression as it struggled, and replied, "You know, special Polluted are hard to find; finding one is already very difficult. These things are very good at hiding their special characteristics."
As he spoke, he kicked the Polluted was crawling on the ground in agony, as if kicking garbage with his toe.
The "World Destroyer" did not relax his expression at this explanation; instead, his look turned sinister. "Then speed up production."
The Gambler shrugged. "But we can't make any big moves, you know, it'll provoke that Slaughter God out."
He scoffed, "He's the guardian deity of humanity."
Slaughter God!
The "World Destroyer's " expression twisted for a moment.
The high-quality "materials" that he couldn't take with him and had to leave in the mall lost contact with him shortly after he left. They must be dead. This must be the work of the Slaughter God and that woman!
Hateful!
How awful!
The "World Destroyer" twisted its body, half of it melting like black mud, bubbling and boiling. Its power instantly spread throughout the underground palace, startling the Polluted in their cages. Their expressions were cold, their eyes filled with murderous intent, and they excitedly licked their lips, a glimmer of clarity visible amidst their fanaticism. These Polluted actually possessed divine consciousness; they were all special Polluted!
They were all willing to be trapped in the iron cage, submitting to the powerful monster on the throne.
The World Destroyer ignored the Polluted, its fingers tapping irritably on the throne.
He instructed the "Gambler": "You handle it."
"Yes." The "Gambler" chuckled dismissively, glancing at the Polluted lying on the ground, lost in confusion.
The powerful monster on the throne can bestow energy-infused chunks of flesh upon lowly, special Polluted. As the Polluted grow stronger, they also become slaves to the monster, continuously supplying it with energy, bit by bit, thus gaining eternal devotion. This is something only the monster on the throne can accomplish.
The monster on the throne conducted experiments and found that the human body was too fragile to withstand the monster's brutal gifts. The bodies of ordinary Polluted were strong enough, but they lacked willpower. Once they accepted the gifts, they would swallow them whole and ultimately die from their bodies exploding.
Only special Polluted —these wondrous beings—possess sufficiently strong and resilient bodies, along with a clear mind, making them the most suitable candidates and resulting in a high success rate.
They had captured and modified two special Polluted in City A, but didn't bring them back afterward, intending to have them clean up a wave of humans. Unfortunately, this approach didn't work, as both materials were inexplicably damaged due to human interference. Now they no longer do this kind of thing; all special Polluted are brought back for processing, which led to this army of Polluted lurking in the underground palace.
The powerful monster on the throne aims to destroy humanity and become the ruler of this world.
The "Gambler" chuckled softly. He harbored no ambition for the position of world ruler; he only wished to witness a grand spectacle of hell on earth. Ah, how he longed for that day to arrive soon!
The "Gambler" glanced at the crawling, struggling Polluted, savored the victim's suffering one last time, and then turned and left.
The one on the throne needs more materials, and materials are only rare among the Polluted, so they need even more Polluted.
Over time, the Pollution released by monsters and Polluted will dissolve into the air and become free-floating, stable Pollution. This free-floating, stable Pollution can cause humans to become Polluted, and special Polluted can emerge from among ordinary Polluted.
So, the "Gambler's " current job is--
To create Pollution.
This spreads Pollution to various cities, increasing the concentration of Pollution in those cities.
Be quiet, and don't let that devil notice you.
Being discovered by that madman is no joke; it's a matter of life and death.
Two hundred years ago, he had just arrived in the world and found a city to explore when he was almost subjugated by that guy. Fortunately, the one on the throne at the moment intervened, allowing him to escape by sheer luck. That Slaughter God, for some unknown reason, became a lackey of humanity. Tsk.
The Gambler, hunched over and looking disheveled, was about to leave the underground palace when the monster on the throne suddenly spoke, asking:
"Where is the Ghost Mother?"
The Gambler paused, turned around, shrugged, and a fawning smile spread across his face, "I don't know, you're off playing."
That Ghost Mother, she's much more willful than him.
whee.
The heavy rain in City A did not affect Ye Jiang in the shopping mall, which had already moved to a new city.
Ye Jiang stood by the window on the 100th floor, looking at the distant mountains. The barren mountains lay sprawled against the sky, with jagged, reddish-brown rocks. Upon closer inspection, the mountains turned out to be a huge skeleton, its thick, long body forming a circle, with dark, bottomless holes cut out by its ribs.
Ye Jiang stared intently, as if she could hear the mountain wind howling out from the black hole.
And the sound of laughter, tinged with the marks of time, carried on the wind.
Don't you have a name? Would you like me to give you one?
"Hmm... how about Jiang Ye?"
"Don't like it? Then let's change it. Her name will be Ye Jiang. Her surname will be Ye, the same as mine."
Chapter 143 Transmigration: A Salted Fish Transmigrates!
Ye Jiang stood at the foot of Bone Mountain, where a road with a slope of over 50 degrees appeared before her. The road was divided into two levels: the upper level was an elevated train track, and the lower level was a regular highway. Together, they led to the top of the mountain, cut through the mountain, and then descended straight down, before extending towards the distant city. This was one of only two routes in and out of this basin city.
A road sign stands by the roadside, which reads: Welcome to City M.
Ye Jiang looked up at the road sign. A whistle sounded overhead, and a train swooped down from the mountaintop, roaring past and entering the territory of City M. She watched the train's tail disappear, then looked away and started walking.
"Going into the mountains?" a voice came from behind.
Ye Jiang paused slightly and turned around. The young man stood there, with a desolate wilderness behind him. In the distance, several Polluted were wandering in the wilderness.
Ye Jiang looked at him, unaware that he had followed her out of the mall at some point.
She still easily overlooked his approach, and her trust in him was surprisingly strong.
Ye Jiang replied with an "Mm." Yes, she wanted to go into the mountains because of the memory that had suddenly been triggered; she wanted to go in and see.
The young man didn't ask her why she suddenly left the mall to go to a mountain range. He walked towards her, stopped beside her, and then looked down at her slightly.
He looked like he wanted to follow her.
Ye Jiang: "..."
She ignored him and walked forward. Rong Yin followed without saying a word.
This area is considered the outskirts of City M. It is so desolate that there is no transition between it and the city. Once you leave the city limits, it is a wilderness. The land is reddish, as if it has been stained with blood, and not a single blade of grass grows here.
A Polluted in the distance spotted Ye Jiang and Rong Yin, and its body swelled up with excitement. It ran over on its deformed three legs while laughing distortedly, then crashed into a black hole and disappeared.
Ye Jiang walked silently along the road. Although entering the mountains would only take Ye Jiang a blink of an eye now, she didn't do so. Like an ordinary human being, she walked along the road towards the mountains, stepping on the scorched earth that seemed to be stained with blood, as if she wanted to remember something in this way.
They hadn't gone far when they saw an official vehicle parked ahead, with a temporary checkpoint set up next to it. Several humans in the uniforms of the Ability Control Bureau were stopping passing vehicles on the roadside. As soon as Ye Jiang and Rong Yin came into their sight, two people walked towards them.
Two members of the Ability Control Bureau approached them.
"Are you going to leave the city?"
Perhaps surprised, the two members of the Ability Control Bureau had strange expressions. They looked Ye and Rong up and down, seemingly both amused and exasperated. "Will you walk out?"
City M issued a lockdown notice; the Ability Control Bureau is here.
The checkpoints were set up to intercept those who missed the notification and wanted to enter or leave the city. Two members of the Ability Control Bureau also stopped several people while on duty here, but these were the only two on foot. What a spectacle! There are actually people in this world who want to hike across the Watch Mountain Range!
Suppressing their inappropriate surprise, the two members of the Ability Control Bureau coughed and resumed their duties seriously. "City M is under lockdown. No one is allowed to enter or leave now."
Ye Jiang raised her eyes, her gaze dark. "A city lockdown?"
A member of the Ability Control Bureau briefly stated. "An earthquake occurred in the Watch Mountain Range a month ago. Shortly afterward, several vehicles and their occupants disappeared while crossing the mountains. The current situation is unclear, so the city is under lockdown."
Ye Jiang's dark eyes looked up at the tracks above; not long ago, she had seen a train enter the city.
The members of the Ability Control Bureau understood the meaning in her eyes and explained, "That's an official vehicle of our Ability Control Bureau; a leader is returning to the city."
Ye Jiang: "... Oh."
