"Splash!"
With a soft sound, a fishing rod in the distance flicked lightly, and a fish was hooked and brought ashore.
Yu Shan watched enviously. "That fellow's luck is simply too good. He's already caught three!"
Wasn't that thirty Spirit Stones?
Su Mu immediately did the calculation. By now, he knew just how valuable a single Spirit Stone was. Earning thirty Spirit Stones in such a short time was incredible.
"Here, give it a try for me!"
Gritting his teeth, Yu Shan thrust the fishing rod into Su Mu's hands.
As he spoke, a helpless look appeared on his face. In matters like this, demons like them simply couldn't compare with humans. Their luck was far worse.
Looking at the fishing rod in his hands, Su Mu could only helplessly imitate him and cast the line.
But Su Mu had never learned how to do this before. Not only was his casting posture extremely awkward, he hadn't cast it very far either.
"You..."
Watching this, Yu Shan couldn't help opening his mouth, his heart sinking. It's over.
It seemed getting to eat Spirit Frost Fish was completely out of the question.
But the next moment, Su Mu felt the fishing rod dip slightly in his hands and hurriedly pulled hard.
"Splash."
With the sound of something breaking the water's surface, a silvery fish was hauled straight out of the water by Su Mu.
The fish was still twisting its entire body.
"How is that possible?!"
Yu Shan froze at the sight. Su Mu could catch a fish even fishing like that? Was this some kind of joke?
Looking at the fish, Su Mu was a little dazed too. This doesn't seem that difficult?
Yu Shan reached out, took the Spirit Frost Fish off the hook, and eagerly began preparing it.
Su Mu was extremely curious about the fish too and couldn't help watching closely.
The fish wasn't large, only about the size of a palm. Once its scales were removed, its translucent body was revealed, and it was easy to see that there seemed to be only a single backbone inside.
With a small knife, Yu Shan gently sliced off a piece of fish. There was a small dish of dipping sauce made from who knew what; he dipped the fish lightly into it before putting it into his mouth.
"Mmm, Spirit Frost Fish really does live up to its reputation!"
As Yu Shan ate the mouthful, Su Mu could clearly see his body shudder. It certainly looked delicious.
The sight left Su Mu craving it so badly that he couldn't help swallowing.
"Come on, little brother, keep fishing!"
Yu Shan opened his eyes and saw that Su Mu wasn't lowering the hook again. After baiting it himself, he hurriedly spoke to Su Mu.
"No matter how many you catch tonight, little brother, I'll buy them all for ten Spirit Stones apiece!"
Extremely excited, Yu Shan urged Su Mu to hurry up and lower the hook.
Helpless, Su Mu could only cast the rod. The bait had barely entered the water when the rod dipped. Another fish had taken the hook!
Yu Shan was beside himself with excitement. While Su Mu had been contemplating, he had watched the people in the distance catching fish one after another, while nothing had happened on his side for ages. He had already been discouraged, never imagining that once Su Mu lowered the hook, he would catch Spirit Frost Fish so easily.
Su Mu found it very strange too. Are my fishing skills really that impressive?
But he hadn't noticed that whenever he lowered the hook, the azure lotus in his soul would give off a faint glimmer.
Yu Shan was delighted. Seeing that the catch really was another Spirit Frost Fish, he hurriedly helped bait the hook again.
After more than a dozen consecutive casts, all of which caught Spirit Frost Fish, Yu Shan simply got a charcoal fire going, eating some raw while grilling others.
Who knew what kind of fruit the fellow had brought out, but as he grilled the Spirit Frost Fish, he dripped its juice onto the flesh.
In an instant, the fish's originally delicate fragrance gained faint traces of fruity sweetness.
The two fragrances mingled, making it all the harder to resist.
Su Mu kept swallowing and finally couldn't take it anymore.
"I'm keeping these Spirit Frost Fish, or I'm not fishing anymore!"
Su Mu flung out a hand. The craving was unbearable.
Even if he couldn't eat them now, that didn't mean he couldn't eat them later. If he kept the fish now, wouldn't he be able to eat them once he had a physical body?
Even without a physical body, if he could open a passage between the two worlds in the future, he could send them to Earth.
Yu Shan paused, then chuckled. "Of course, of course. Since you want them, little brother, how could I refuse? Besides, you're the one who caught them."
Yu Shan was much warmer toward Su Mu now, probably because of his fishing skills.
Hearing this, Su Mu's expression immediately relaxed considerably. "I want the stuff in that dish too. And this spirit fruit-prepare some of both for me."
Yu Shan didn't mind. He was enjoying his meal far too much to fuss over such things. With a casual wave, he froze the Spirit Frost Fish before him in ice, then took out a portion of the seasonings he had prepared.
"Take them. Keep them in your storage space, and whenever you want to eat them, they'll still be just as fresh when you take them out."
By now, Yu Shan had already tried several different ways of eating them: briefly blanching them in boiling water, steaming them, frying them, and so on.
Every method seemed to taste wonderful, making him exclaim with satisfaction as he ate.
Looking at the blocks of ice before him, Su Mu happily put them away, then resumed fishing for Spirit Frost Fish.
"You've caught so many already. Give the Spirit Frost Fish you catch next to us!"
Just as Su Mu was about to lower his hook again, several figures suddenly appeared beside him, staring at him with unfriendly expressions.
As they looked at the Spirit Frost Fish to the side, their faces filled with covetousness.
Su Mu was startled by their words. Can even catching a few fish bring murderers and robbers down on me?
"You'd better think this through. This man belongs to the eldest princess of Great Liang."
Hearing their voices, Yu Shan showed no sign of nervousness and replied unhurriedly.
"The eldest princess of Great Liang?"
At those words, the expressions of the people around them changed at once. The eldest princess of Great Liang was a mighty cultivator who had entered the Nascent Soul Realm!
"We'll take our leave. Forgive our offense!"
The men cupped their fists, then scattered like birds and beasts, vanishing without a trace in an instant.
Before Su Mu had even figured out what exactly had happened, it seemed to have already been resolved.
Suddenly, Su Mu felt that the eldest princess's name really was useful.
"Couldn't you beat them?"
Su Mu lowered the hook as he asked quietly.
"Of course I could, but there was no need. If they're willing to rob someone even of Spirit Frost Fish, they're probably a bunch of paupers. Killing them wouldn't bring any benefits. They probably only got the idea because they saw what a weak soul form you were."
Yu Shan answered casually. From the looks of it, he wasn't a bloodthirsty person.
"Speaking of which, with fishing skills like yours, perhaps you could try seeing if you can catch a Koi. Koi are wonderful things. You don't even need to eat them. Just keep one and raise it, and you'll be able to find money even while walking down the road."
Speaking of this, Yu Shan couldn't help feeling envious. To him, Su Mu's way of fishing was simply too enviable.
If he had an ability like that, would he ever have to worry about not having Spirit Frost Fish to eat?
