After Dr. Wang finished speaking, he quickly tapped his wristwatch a few times. A moment later, a five-star confidential mission was sent to Sang Luoluo.
Slightly surprised, Sang Luoluo opened it and read the details carefully. They matched what Dr. Wang had just said exactly. For this first mission, she was directly transferred a 100-point deposit, with the remaining 90% to be settled after the mission ended.
Sang Luoluo tapped to accept the mission.
Jian Cheng, the assistant, brought over a case and placed it in front of Dr. Wang.
Dr. Wang opened it to check, then looked at the label on it and pushed it toward Sang Luoluo.
Sang Luoluo instantly put it into her space's Stasis Zone and set an alarm to ensure she would arrive here an hour early for the handover.
Chapter 32: Her worth rose, and she suddenly felt confidential missions were a very good...
After leaving the base laboratory, she still felt a little dazed. This mission really was easy.
Sang Luoluo tapped her mission avatar. It displayed her mission list and the specific price of each mission, and she had permission to set whether others could see these missions.
The specific mission details were listed there. What outsiders saw was:
Base Guard S17 Squad mission, 50 points. Mission rating: confidential, one star.
Base Guard S17 Squad mission, 150 points. Mission rating: confidential, one star.
Timber transport mission, 2 participants, 150 points. Mission rating: one star.
Base laboratory mission, 1,000 points. Mission rating: confidential, five stars.
Sang Luoluo could see the specific mission details on her end. That access was open only to her.
Outsiders could see the number and ratings of the missions she had undertaken and use them to judge her completion rate. It was also a reflection of her worth.
Sang Luoluo tapped the avatars of other people in the base. He Fei, for instance, had already undertaken over a thousand missions, ranging from small jobs worth a few points to major ones worth over a thousand. He did them all.
Sang Luoluo went on to tap Lei Qi's avatar. He had several hundred missions listed beneath it, ranging from a few points to several hundred, much like He Fei's.
Looking at them gave her an inexplicable sense that they were impressive.
Sang Luoluo looked at the introduction field on her profile and entered a line: [Spatial Evolved Human. Capacity: approximately 15 truckloads.]
Based on the missions she had done before, the system would sometimes proactively recommend suitable missions and employers.
As she headed toward the hospital in her wheelchair, she opened the bounty section of the Evolved Human forum to see whether there were any suitable missions.
Finding that they were all fairly complicated technical jobs that took hard work for very few points, Sang Luoluo decided to forget it.
She went straight to the hospital to visit her brother.
Sang Luoluo made her way to the ward in her wheelchair along the now-familiar route. Wei Xing's high fever still had not subsided, and he had been transferred to a high-end ward for care. Sang Luoluo did not know what was happening with him, but running a fever for several days straight definitely was not normal.
Sang Yunpu sat on the bed, fiddling with something on his wristwatch. He was so absorbed that he did not even notice Sang Luoluo come in.
Sang Luoluo leaned closer and discovered he was teaching himself about mechanical assembly. She could understand a little of it, but many of the parts and modules were new products of this era, and she knew nothing about them.
"Brother, are you interested in this stuff?" Sang Luoluo suddenly spoke, giving Sang Yunpu a start.
"When did you get here?" Sang Yunpu snapped out of his concentration.
"Just now."
Sang Yunpu asked how her mission yesterday had gone. Sang Luoluo told him everything honestly and even showed him the photos she had taken when Boss Li treated her to dinner last night.
"Very nice. I'm saving the points you earned for you." Sang Yunpu chuckled softly, a surge of fighting spirit rising in him. "Once I'm discharged, I'll be your assistant."
Sang Luoluo cheerfully agreed. "Sure! But what about missions that have to stay confidential? Brother, there's something I've thought over, and I still think I should tell you. I received a mission invitation from the base laboratory this morning."
Sang Yunpu looked shocked. That was the base laboratory, an institution with a leading voice in the base.
As she spoke, she brought up her wristwatch and opened the mission tab for Sang Yunpu to see. The mission's confidentiality rating was five stars. Sang Luoluo said, "Brother, I'm afraid I'll often be taking confidential missions from now on. Don't ask too much. I promised to keep them secret, and knowing too much won't do you any good."
Sang Yunpu did not actually want to know what the mission entailed. He was merely worried. "Will the mission harm you?"
Sang Luoluo shook her head. "No. Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. Brother, my space can keep things in stasis. Whatever condition something is in when I put it inside, that's exactly how it'll be when I take it out. My evolved ability is very powerful."
Sang Yunpu rubbed the top of her head, gratified. "All right. You decide."
He felt proud of his little sister now.
Sang Luoluo immediately transferred the 100 points she had earned today to Sang Yunpu. "Brother, this is the deposit they gave me."
Sang Yunpu felt as though he had floated into the clouds. He could hardly believe it. Before, when he went scavenging, he might work himself to death and come back with nothing for the entire day. When he was lucky, he could earn a few points to exchange for some nutrient solution that would keep longer. But now, his sister was transferring dozens or even hundreds of points to him each day. It left him feeling lightheaded, as though it were not quite real.
To think that he, the older brother, was starting to rely on his little sister to support him. Sang Yunpu felt both a sense of disparity and a little pride. "Mm. I'll keep it for you."
Sang Luoluo opened the bedside storage cabinet and discovered that not a single apple remained. There was not one bottle of mineral water left either, only two potatoes and five bottles of nutrient solution.
"Brother, you finished all the water and apples? I'll give you some more."
Sang Luoluo took out ten bottles of Spirit Spring water and ten large, bright red apples. Sang Yunpu stared. "You... how did you get so many apples?"
Sang Luoluo had already thought of an excuse. "Brother, it's a confidential mission. I can't tell you. Don't worry. Everything I can take out is something I've rightfully earned. You can't ask anything more. And remember to keep it secret for me."
She suddenly felt that confidential missions made a very good excuse.
Although Sang Yunpu was puzzled and surprised, since his sister had said it was a confidential mission, and he knew how strict such missions were, he naturally did not dare speak carelessly, much less pry. He could not hold his sister back.
There was no one else in the ward at the time, so Sang Luoluo picked up an apple and began munching on it right in front of Sang Yunpu. The apples from her space were juicy and large. An ordinary one was big enough to fill both cupped hands. The moment Sang Luoluo took a bite, the apple's sweet, fresh scent spread.
Fortunately, the person in the next bed was not there. Otherwise, if they smelled it, there was no telling whether they might pry open his storage cabinet in the middle of the night.
Sang Yunpu sat close, so naturally he smelled it. It struck straight at his taste buds, and he could not help swallowing. Seeing him like that, Sang Luoluo wondered how he could be craving it so badly. She took another apple from her space and pressed it into his hand. "Go ahead and eat. I have plenty more."
Sang Yunpu held the large, weighty apple. Its sweet scent seemed to seep through the peel to his taste buds, making it incredibly tempting. He thought it should be all right to eat one apple. He had never tried one before. He had not told his sister that, with nothing to do, he had sold the apples, potatoes, and mineral water she had left him to the other patients. The food and water had tested free of radiation and sold for a total of 1,500 points.
It was not easy for his sister to earn points. He was already happy just eating some nutrient solution mixed with potatoes. By exchanging that food for points, he could save them for emergencies.
Of course, Sang Luoluo did not know about this, and he had no intention of telling her. Although he did not know where Luoluo had gotten this radiation-free food, people would scramble to buy food like this even at 120 points per jin.
He lifted the apple and took a bite. Its sweet, fragrant flavor immediately conquered his taste buds. Having never eaten fruit before, he found it so delicious that he almost cried.
So radiation-free food tasted this good. He had thought potatoes were already delicious enough, never imagining that apples would taste so much better. No wonder so many people were willing to spend so many points on radiation-free food.
Sang Luoluo did not know what Sang Yunpu was thinking. If she had, she really might have laughed in exasperation.
Sitting in her wheelchair, Sang Luoluo looked at her brother's amputation wound. Now that it was being treated with medication, it had begun to scab over and was healing well.
Sang Luoluo's wristwatch beeped several times. She checked it and found several mission invitations.
None of the offered payments were low.
The first mission was to transport heavy machinery. With ordinary truck transport, getting the machines loaded was a problem in itself, let alone unloading them. There could also be jolts and other issues during transit.
There were twenty machines in total, to be moved from a factory to the workshop of a technology company. The reward was 400 points.
Detailed mission information was also provided. The drive would take about an hour, and someone would be assigned to pick her up and drop her off.
The second mission was to transport a batch of broken-down machines of assorted types. They could not operate for various reasons and needed to be returned for repairs. They were near the base entrance and had to be transported to a processing plant. The situation was much like the first mission: loading and unloading trucks would be difficult. Based on the mission's difficulty, the reward offered was 450 points.
There was also a mission to transport clothes. The person posting it had seen Sang Luoluo's profile on the Evolved Human forum and felt that using an ability like hers for transport could save some costs. Based on the prices of Sang Luoluo's past missions, they offered a reward of 150 points.
Sang Luoluo felt that all three missions were actually quite simple.
They would not take much effort.
Sang Luoluo showed the three missions to her brother, leaving Sang Yunpu stunned. At the rate his sister was earning money, perhaps their family really could live a good life in the future.
Sang Luoluo said, "Brother, I'm going to take some missions. I'm off. I'll come see you again later."
Sang Luoluo immediately accepted the first and second missions. She felt the third offered too few points, so she left it for now.
Higher-paying missions came first.
The mission issuer immediately replied, asking her to wait outside the base Guard's entrance. Someone would come to pick her up shortly.
