Background / History
Childhood and Guard Service
Lei Qi and He Fei were orphaned as children and raised by the base. Neither knew his parents, and both subsequently served in the Guard alongside Qi Feng 209.
Under Qi Feng, Lei Qi faced increasingly dangerous wilderness missions with poor returns. After one expedition cost six teammates their lives, he complained that medical expenses consumed most of their earnings. He also resented Yan Lang for taking credit for Qi Feng's work while blaming him for setbacks, protected by his father Elder Yan's authority 2.
His dissatisfaction continued when the squad was dispatched into torrential rain less than two hours after returning to base. He openly questioned why Elder Yan's son was spared similarly dangerous assignments 11.
Meeting Sang Luoluo
Lei Qi initially dismissed Sang Luoluo's survival prospects because she could not handle an ordinary mantis. Nevertheless, she remembered him as someone who had saved her life 2 45.
After her spatial ability attracted the squad's attention, he helped register her as an auxiliary evolved human. He uploaded proof of her ability, linked her information to the Guard, supplied squad contacts, and advised her to replace her outdated wrist device. He subsequently arranged dormitory access and collected a Guard badge for her 16 17.
Once she became associated with the squad, he treated her as one of their own. His early skepticism developed into admiration after she brought injured teammates home and arranged their mission payments rather than abandoning them 16 63.
Leaving the Guard
After Qi Feng and Sang Luoluo rescued him from a collapsed underground garage, Qi Feng proposed that Lei Qi and He Fei leave the Guard to work for her. Lei Qi enthusiastically accepted the prospect of earning two potatoes a day 151.
He and He Fei formally completed their resignation paperwork in Chapter 174. Their agreed compensation was two radiation-free potatoes per day, collectible monthly. They could retain wilderness Crystal Cores they could absorb, while handing over the rest. Lei Qi welcomed the chance to escape the Guard's pressure and Yan Lang's temper 174.
He later moved into Sang Luoluo's villa at Base No. 32 with the others and continued accompanying her on combat, gathering, and transport missions 234 302 405.
Appearance
- Build: Tall, standing over six feet; Sang Luoluo has to jog to match his ordinary walking pace 16.
- Hair: Short crew cut 2 16.
- Early injuries: Appears with scrapes on his cheeks during his introduction 2.
- Field equipment: Uses lightweight, silvery-white skeletal exoskeleton armor during early Guard operations 6.
Personality
Lei Qi is outspoken, expressive, and prone to grumbling about exhausting work. He condemns the Guard's favoritism openly enough that Qi Feng warns him to watch who might overhear. His complaints coexist with strong loyalty to his captain and concern for teammates injured or killed on missions 2 11.
Food is a powerful motivator for him, shaped by scarcity rather than simple indulgence. He protests when valuable peanuts are used as animal bait, accepts paid tree-cutting work immediately, and agrees to fight mutant rats for one peanut per kill. He also saves eggs to trade for necessities instead of eating them himself 49 51 75 113.
Beneath his joking manner, he is generous toward companions. He saves an apple for the recovering He Fei and warmly welcomes the underfed Li Jiu, explaining the team's benefits and giving him an entire sheep's head 163 287.
He trusts Qi Feng's judgment and places considerable faith in Sang Luoluo. After leaving the Guard, he declares that he will follow them wherever they go, confident that their weapons, abilities, and willingness to work will keep them fed 208 222.
Abilities & Skills

- Emergency rescue: Reaches the lightning-struck Qi Feng and Chuanchuan first and catches them as they fall from a tree 254.
- Evacuation potential: Qi Feng considers him fast enough to carry both himself and Sang Luoluo through a meteor shower if necessary 325.
Marksmanship and Coordinated Combat
Lei Qi combines rapid movement with laser and Crystal Core firearms 52 193.
