Background / History

Ye Clan massacre

Ye Guyi’s family belonged to the secluded Ye Clan, which the three Zhongli brothers massacred. Her father sent her away during the attack, allowing her to escape with a severe abdominal wound contaminated by evil qi 147 148.

She fled to Sitan City, where hunger, poverty, and the injury left her unable to heal or release her Martial Soul. After spending her remaining money on medicinal herbs, she had no shelter from the winter snow and nearly froze to death 147 148.

Second simulation: Lu Cheng’s disciple

Lu Cheng found Ye Guyi in the snow, healed her, and brought her to a warm room. Initially overwhelmed by grief and survivor’s guilt, she questioned why he had saved her. Seeing his angel-type Martial Soul restored her sense that she was not alone, and she asked to become his disciple 148.

She vowed to eradicate every Evil Soul Master. Lu Cheng accepted her, but concealed that he had already killed the Zhongli brothers. His original simulation plan was to nurture her into an enemy capable of killing him and thereby earn a high score 147 148.

His instruction combined demanding sword practice with expensive medicinal support. Over time, Ye Guyi came to regard him as her only living relative, while her dependence developed into a desire to marry him 149 150.

Holy Angel Church

Lu Cheng introduced Ye Guyi to the possibility of godhood through faith and took her to attack Holy Spirit Cult branches. In Nuode City, she rescued civilians intended for sacrifice and began attracting their faith 151.

As her reputation spread, she founded the Holy Angel Church. Lu Cheng secretly supplied money, intelligence, and opportunities to kill Evil Soul Masters while concealing his own position within the Holy Spirit Cult. Her church eventually gained official recognition from the Sun Moon Empire and became its largest publicly acknowledged religion 152.

The church survived a major cult assault with assistance from Illustrious Virtue Hall. Ye Guyi later sought Shrek Academy’s support for a final campaign, but Mu En refused, and Shrek covertly discouraged other factions from joining her 153 154.

Final battle and reincarnation

Ye Guyi led the allied campaign against the Holy Spirit Cult and killed Ye Xishui and Long Xiaoyao. Beneath the cult’s altar, she discovered that its remaining leader was Lu Cheng—the man with whom she had planned marriage and seclusion 156 157.

She initially refused to attack him. Lu Cheng forced the confrontation, invoking her oath and guiding her through their shared sword forms. Her final strike mortally wounded him, and absorbing his Fallen Angel power completed her ascension 157.

With the God of Life’s help, Ye Guyi preserved his body and refused to believe he was truly gone. When the God of Destruction awakened his surviving soul fragment, she vowed to revive him. She instead followed him when the Simulation Device offered him departure, sacrificing her godhood to enter reincarnation 158.

Main worldline: return through darkness

Ye Guyi awakened in another worldline at approximately sixteen, retaining her memories and discovering that she now possessed Twin Martial Souls. In this life, the Ordinary Alliance’s leader—not Lu Cheng—had saved her after her family’s destruction 159.

She had joined the Ordinary Alliance because its enemy, the Xishui Alliance, was backed by the Holy Spirit Cult. After awakening, she revealed her Fallen Angel powers in an underground arena and defeated Blood Fist, attracting the cult’s attention 160.

She subsequently joined the Holy Spirit Cult. During its operation to capture the Auspicious Beast, she spotted Lu Cheng but deliberately postponed their reunion until she could approach him from a position of greater strength 167 223.

With Qian Renxue’s assistance, she completed the Angel Temple’s trials and reached Limit Douluo. She then suppressed her impending ascension, intending to consolidate control over the cult and remain in the mortal world with Lu Cheng 212.

Reunion and second ascension

As the Holy Spirit Cult’s saintess, Ye Guyi encountered Lu Cheng at the Mingdu tournament. Their private reunion followed at the Green Hotel, where she embraced and kissed him. She claimed that Ye Xishui had implanted a Demonic Puppet Seed to prevent her escape, prompting him to promise her rescue 223 229 230.

During the semifinal, the two displayed matching Fallen Angel forms and identical sword techniques before Ye Guyi ordered the cult’s team to concede 238.

Ye Guyi later revealed her true strength and confined Lu Cheng in the Angel Temple. She had studied his Mirror Clones and prepared specifically to prevent his escape. After keeping him there for a month, she abandoned the idea of imprisoning him forever, acknowledging his willingness to risk himself for her 241 242.

Unable to delay her breakthrough any longer, she ascended as a God King with two divine positions. She accepted the God of Destruction’s invitation to join the Divine Realm and agreed to help keep Tang San in check 242 243.

Appearance

  • Hair and eyes: Golden hair and golden or pale-golden eyes; often wears her hair in a ponytail during training 149 150 196.
  • Build: Tall and athletic, exceeding 1.75 meters during her training years and approaching 1.8 meters in boots later in the simulation 150 152.
  • Papal attire: Golden robes, a golden crown, a face veil, a long staff, and golden high heels 152 155.
  • Holy Spirit Cult attire: Conceals herself beneath black robes and a hood 167 223.
  • Angel forms: Displays crimson wings with Blazing Angel and four dark wings when using Fallen Angel publicly at the tournament 151 238.
  • Combined form: After the Angel Temple trials, manifests six wings divided into black and white halves, accompanied by similarly divided robes 212.

Personality

Ye Guyi’s initial determination to survive is rooted in revenge, but the massacre also leaves her with severe survivor’s guilt. Lu Cheng’s rescue gives her a new emotional anchor, and her vow against Evil Soul Masters becomes the purpose around which she rebuilds her life 147 148.

Training makes her outwardly composed, disciplined, and capable of leadership. Against Evil Soul Masters, however, she is merciless: she deliberately subjects the Sixth Holy Spirit to agonizing judgment rather than granting him a quick death 149 150 151.

Her tenderness toward Lu Cheng develops into extreme possessiveness. She regards him as her only family, resents the presence of other women, and ultimately prepares to bind him to her side. After reincarnation, her former absolute hostility toward Evil Soul Masters gives way to a willingness to live among and control them 150 167 196 212.

Despite contemplating permanent confinement, she eventually recognizes Lu Cheng’s sincere affection and relinquishes that plan. She tells him that she never blamed him for the events of their previous life 242.

Abilities & Skills

Blazing Angel / Seraphim

An evolved form of her original Angel Martial Soul, obtained through the Infernal Delicate Apricot during the simulation and retained after reincarnation 150 159.

  • Wields holy flames and an angelic sword with a strong attribute advantage against Evil Soul Masters 151.
  • Defeats a Soul Saint while she is a Soul Emperor through this advantage 151.
  • Purifies the vengeful-spirit energy within Ye Xishui’s Death God Tower attack 156.
  • Uses winged flight, eventually manifesting six blazing wings 151 156.

Fallen Angel and Holy Demon powers

Her second Martial Soul appears after reincarnation, allowing her to wield darkness alongside her angelic power 159 160.

  • Holy Demon Sword: Summons the weapon associated with her black-gold Soul Ring 160.
  • Holy Demon, Judgment: Binds Blood Fist and drags him into darkness 160.
  • Fallen Angel manifestation: Uses a black sword and four dark wings during her public duel with Lu Cheng 238.
  • Combined divinity: Her two Martial Souls support the divine positions of God of Seraphim and God of Fallen Angel 212.

Holy Flame Sword Canon

Lu Cheng’s sword discipline, which Ye Guyi practices through exhaustive drills and personal demonstrations 149.

Technique Function / Demonstration
Blazing Feather Approaches the Abyss Opening stance that gathers power at the sword’s edge 149.
Blazing Heart, Thrust Concentrated thrust emphasizing speed, accuracy, and penetration; Ye Guyi uses it against Long Xiaoyao 149 156.
Ring of Judgment: Sever Sweeping second form that condenses sword momentum into a ring 149.
World-Purifying Lotus Flower Flame Final form that releases accumulated holy flame as a lotus-shaped attack; used against cultists and in her fatal confrontation with Lu Cheng 151 157.
  • Grasps the physical form of the discipline within a few months, although sword intent requires her own comprehension 149.
  • Develops deeply ingrained defensive reflexes through repeated training 156.
  • Matches Lu Cheng’s movements so closely that their tournament duel resembles a coordinated sword dance 238.

Sixth Soul Skill

A judgment attack activated through a black Soul Ring, trapping its target in a lava-like substance while holy flames burn the body 151.

  • Used to execute the Sixth Holy Spirit 151.
  • Its prolonged punishment reflects her intense hatred of Evil Soul Masters 151.

Faith and divine-core reconstruction

Ye Guyi gathers faith from rescued civilians and worshippers. Her simulation-era ascension is initially presented as godhood through faith, but Lu Cheng later recognizes that she is reconstructing the shattered Angel Godhood rather than creating an entirely new divine path 151 152 154.

  • Slaying and devouring powerful Evil Soul Masters accelerates her advancement 152.
  • Completing that particular path requires absorbing an opposing Fallen Angel, not merely accumulating more victims or faith 154 157.
  • After reincarnation, her two fully developed Martial Souls allow her to ascend with two divine positions 212 242.

Divine Consciousness and temple control

  • Encompasses the tournament venue with Divine Consciousness while publicly displaying only peak Soul Saint strength 223.
  • Alters the divine spark and takes control of the Angel Temple 242.
  • Prepares the temple confinement to counter Lu Cheng’s ability to escape through his Mirror Clones 242.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Wooden training sword — Used during Lu Cheng’s instruction; later appears among the selectable rewards for his second simulation 149 159.
  • Angel Holy Sword — Her crimson, holy-flame weapon in the simulation, capable of reforming in her hand after being dropped 156 157.
  • Holy Demon Sword / Fallen Angel sword — Dark weapon used with her post-reincarnation powers 160 238.
  • Black-and-gold defensive bracelet — Kong Deming’s first-meeting gift. A pinnacle Level 9 defensive Soul Tool that, fully charged, can withstand three direct blasts from Ye Xishui’s Death God Tower 154.
  • Infernal Delicate Apricot — Immortal herb obtained by Lu Cheng from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well; triggers her Martial Soul evolution and breakthrough to Soul King 150.

Relationships

  • Lu Cheng — Rescuer, master, and eventual romantic partner. His simulation-era sacrifice drives her to abandon godhood and follow him; their main-world reunion culminates in her revealing the strength she had concealed from him 148 157 158 229 242.
  • Ye Clan — Her murdered family. Their deaths inspire her original vow to eradicate Evil Soul Masters 147 148.
  • Zhongli brothers — Perpetrators of the Ye Clan massacre. Lu Cheng kills them before accepting her as his disciple but initially withholds that information 147 148.
  • Qian Renxue — Remnant soul residing in her Sea of Consciousness and helper in the Angel Temple trials. Their alliance includes a request to kill Tang San, but Ye Guyi also threatens her over perceived interest in Lu Cheng. Later agrees to protect her from Tang San 212 243 280.
  • Kong Deming — Her master’s master and a simulation-era protector. She mistakes his bracelet gift for acceptance as Lu Cheng’s future wife rather than recognition as his granddisciple 154.
  • Ye Xishui — Principal simulation-era enemy, whom she kills during the final campaign. In the main worldline, Ye Guyi claims Ye Xishui has bound her with a Demonic Puppet Seed 156 230.
  • Zhongli Wu — Main-world Holy Spirit Cult leader who welcomes her Fallen Angel Martial Soul and personally brings her on the Auspicious Beast operation 167.
  • God of Destruction — Discovers Lu Cheng’s surviving soul fragment in the simulation and later recruits the newly ascended Ye Guyi into the Divine Realm 158 243.
  • Tang San — Intended target of her agreement with Qian Renxue. Lu Cheng later advises her to restrain him rather than attempt to kill a wielder of two divine positions 212 243.
