Background / History

Origins and Early Standing

The Su Clan originally belonged to the Heavenly Soul Empire’s nobility. According to Yan Shaozhe, it fled to the Sun Moon Empire after choosing the wrong side several thousand years earlier. By the opening of the story, it had been established in Shanhai City for over a thousand years 17 51.

Its position depended heavily on Su An, an elderly Soul Douluo and imperial earl. Su Lie rose from a collateral branch to become patriarch because his rank-eight innate Soul Power made him the clan’s greatest genius in over three hundred years. Su An regarded him as the likeliest successor capable of sustaining the household after his death 1 5.

The clan understood its hereditary Cloud Martial Soul but knew little about Body Martial Souls. Consequently, most members dismissed Su Yun’s mutated Soul Martial Soul because his innate Soul Power was only rank three. His father and sister continued supporting him despite that assessment 1 54.

Su Yun’s Reforms

Su Yun gained Su An’s backing by revealing a Thousand-Year first Soul Ring and promising to help him become a Titled Douluo. Su An authorized him to use the clan’s resources, accepted an Earth Class cultivation technique, and offered to confirm him as young clan leader 5 6.

Resources obtained through Su Yun’s travel between worlds transformed the senior ranks. Pills accelerated cultivation, while magic cores and Pulse-Protecting Pills allowed elders to obtain unusually old Soul Rings without the prolonged injuries associated with exceeding normal absorption limits. Su An’s breakthrough gave the clan its first Titled Douluo 11 21.

That growth initially created a financial crisis. Purchasing two spiritual-type Head Soul Bones cost the clan ninety percent of its businesses. Su Yun nevertheless prohibited further Soul Tool production research, prioritizing cultivation and the purchase of finished weapons instead 13.

Holy Spirit Cult Attack and Relocation

Xu Tianran secretly commissioned the Holy Spirit Cult to destroy the clan so that he could approach Su Qingxue as her rescuer. He used the third prince’s identity, causing the attackers to implicate the wrong prince 16 20 23.

The attackers sealed the grounds with a barrier but encountered three Soul Douluo elders rather than the two they expected. Su An then revealed his Titled Douluo cultivation and Hundred Thousand Year ninth ring, killed the blood-Martial-Soul Soul Douluo, and pursued the fleeing Ten Thousand Soul Banner wielder with Position Tracking 19 20.

Despite the victory, Su Yun judged Shanhai City unsafe against further cult retaliation. He ordered the remaining properties sold and the household moved to the imperial capital. Before relocating, he secured the Snow Empress’s protection by helping her find ten-thousand-year profound ice marrow. She also concealed Su An’s conspicuous red ninth ring by changing its appearance to black 21 25.

The clan entered the capital openly as a Titled Douluo household. Su An’s displayed cultivation attracted congratulations and a personal visit from the emperor, who offered him a dukedom 25.

Tournament Success and Internal Dissent

Su Qingxue captained the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy’s tournament team, while Su Yun fought as a reserve. Their performances attracted recruitment attempts from Shrek Academy. Su Qingxue rejected Yan Shaozhe’s offer, pointing to the clan’s existing position in the Sun Moon Empire and its actual access to Hundred Thousand Year Soul Rings 35 43 45.

After the tournament victory, Su Qingxue received a marquisate and three Level 9 Soul Tools. By Chapter 58, Su Yun had also received a ten-billion subsidy from the Dou Ling Empire and paid off the clan’s debts 54 58.

Disagreement over Shrek exposed a division within the younger generation. When Su Yun rejected exchange places offered by Jing Hongchen, Su Ning publicly challenged him. Su Yun initially ordered his execution, then spared him for his tournament contributions and expelled him under restrictions preventing the use of clan cultivation techniques or disclosure of its secrets 58 59.

Preparations Against the Imperial Family

Su Yun planned to confront the imperial family after the next Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament. Although Su An eventually believed the clan could already destroy the imperial household, Su Yun considered its prospects poor against Kong Deming and the Holy Spirit Cult’s strongest figures 55 74 78.

The clan expanded through outside recruitment as well as internal cultivation. Lan Susu and Lan Luoluo joined after receiving promises of exceptional Soul Rings, while Mu Yunyao accepted service and rapidly approached Soul Douluo with clan support 78 80 83.

Qin Bohai subsequently offered the Qin Clan’s allegiance and identified other noble households dissatisfied with the Xu Clan.
