Background / History

Resurrection and a New Identity

The Douluo Plane Consciousness reconstructs Qian Xunji's fragmented soul and resurrects him in the body of a child from a village destroyed by an Evil Soul Master. It explains that the previous Asura God shattered his soul ten thousand years earlier and shows him the subsequent destruction of Spirit Hall and persecution of the Angel Clan 1.

The history revealed to him distinguishes the original Qian Xunji from a false Qian Xunji, who violated Bibi Dong and was later killed by her. To avoid attracting Tang San's attention—and provoking Bibi Dong—he adopts the name Qian Chen when she asks his identity 1 4.

Angel Mountain Manor

Qian Chen builds his initial resources by killing Evil Soul Masters, benefiting from the Holy Angel's suppression of them and acquiring their wealth. Following clues from the Plane Consciousness, he finds Feng Luan, Bing Ling, and Pan Long, whom he treats as his younger brothers 9.

He purchases a valley near the White Tiger Duke's Mansion and establishes Angel Mountain Manor there to monitor the emergence of the child of destiny. Its followers help impoverished villagers awaken their Martial Souls and recruit willing Soul Masters discreetly. Qian Chen explicitly forbids forcing unwilling people to join 9 12.

Entry into Shrek Academy

After assisting Zhang Lexuan's group against the Saber-Toothed Tiger King, Qian Chen accepts Xuan Zi's demand that he enter Shrek's Inner Court and Inspection Corps. He secures freedom to leave, Evil Soul Master assignments, unrestricted free cultivation resources, personal ownership of tournament prizes, and academy assistance obtaining a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring and Soul Bone upon reaching Titled Douluo 6 8.

He later exchanges his cultivation method for Yan Shaozhe's promise of a suitable soul bone over one hundred thousand years old, obtaining guarantees from Mu En and the Sea God Pavilion elders. He refuses Zhang Lexuan's offer to put up her own soul bone as collateral 14.

Rescue of Qian Guyi

An Inspection Corps investigation leads him to the persecuted Ye Clan. In Strange Stone Valley, he fights Holy Spirit Cult members alongside Ye Qingshan, who dies after entrusting his daughter to him. Qian Chen survives Bishop Tang's Ring Detonation by avoiding its attacks until its effect expires, then defeats and cripples him 24 27 28.

He finds Ye Guyi beside her mother's body, explains their shared Angel Clan heritage, and encourages her to reclaim the surname Qian. After she vows to restore the clan and rebuild Spirit Hall, he appoints her its new Holy Maiden and helps her bury her parents' remains and belongings 28 29.

Huo Yuhao and the Tang Sect

Qian Chen's initial effort to take Huo Yuhao as a disciple fails because Huo Yun'er refuses to leave the White Tiger Duke's Mansion. He learns that divine interference is influencing her decisions and later preserves her soul after her death. Once Huo Yuhao leaves the mansion, Qian Chen becomes his teacher and enables mother and son to reunite within Huo Yuhao's Sea of Consciousness 10 11 35 47 48.

He also clears the Iron Blood Sect from the Tang Sect's former grounds, killing more than one hundred members and giving Tang Ya one million Gold Soul Coins for reconstruction. His subsequent visit to the Heavenly Soul imperial palace includes a confrontation in which he injures Devil Fist Douluo 51.

Leadership and Watch Valley

Before his death, Mu En appoints Qian Chen and Zhang Lexuan to lead the Martial Soul Department and grants both voting seats in the Sea God Pavilion. Qian Chen accepts Bei Bei as a disciple while privately planning to use Mu En's family connections to strengthen his own influence over Shrek 81.

As an administrator, he promotes Soul Tools in the Freshman Tournament and proposes subsidies for approximately two hundred poorer students. He also reorganizes first-year classes by Martial Soul specialization after the tournament 88 101.

Qian Chen develops Watch Valley as a base for his restoration effort. He proposes free Martial Soul awakenings, free treatment, and local Evil Soul Master suppression to the Star Luo emperor. Internally, however, he argues that obstacles imposed by nobles and other factions can help beneficiaries appreciate Watch Valley's assistance rather than take it for granted 136 139.

Soul Beast Alliance

After helping save the Emperor Auspicious Beast, Qian Chen presents the Soul Spirit Method to Di Tian as a way to preserve Soul Beast souls while providing Soul Rings. He promises to spread the method and establish forests for low-level Soul Beasts if the Angel Clan regains its strength 127 128.

Di Tian recognizes him as a friend of the Star Dou Great Forest and offers assistance where it is feasible and compatible with Soul Beast interests 128.

Tournament Crisis and Later Operations

Suspicious of Xuan Zi's Holy Spirit Cult connections, Qian Chen separates his closest companions from the main tournament expedition. After learning of the expedition's casualties, he secretly cures the survivors' corpse poison and builds support to remove Xuan Zi from important responsibilities 168 172 173 175 176.

During the tournament period, he acquires the Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast Embryo and captures Holy Spirit Cult deputy leader Feng Ling. He later forces her to return to Yan Shaozhe's side, intending to exploit the resulting scandal against both Yan Shaozhe and the cult 196 213.

When the Body Sect demands Huo Yuhao, Qian Chen handles the confrontation and defeats four of its Titled Douluos 221. He subsequently travels to the Sun Moon Empire to study advanced Soul Tool knowledge, seek a route to Level 9 Soul Engineer, and approach Xu Tianran. Learning that the crown prince needs treatment for a secret injury, he cultivates an exaggerated reputation for greed and extravagance to influence the terms of a future offer 240.

Appearance

• Normal appearance: Golden hair, golden eyes, handsome, well-proportioned features, and a sharply defined face. As an adult, he looks almost identical to Qian Xunji 6 38.
• Clothing: Appears before Huo Yuhao dressed in white and standing on his flying Seven Kill Sword 47.
• Angel manifestation: Initially displays four holy angel wings; later possesses six wings with his Divine Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul 24 109.
• Ultimate Ice appearance: Snow-white hair, black eyebrows and eyes, and colder, sterner facial features. He considers the transformation convincing enough to conceal his identity even from Zhang Lexuan 112 113 193.

Personality

Qian Chen is pragmatic and politically calculating. He insists on concrete compensation before joining Shrek, negotiates guarantees before sharing cultivation knowledge, and treats institutional appointments as opportunities to advance his restoration plans. His deliberate performance of greed before Ju Zi is a bargaining tactic rather than an unguarded admission of his priorities 8 14 81 240.

His protection of vulnerable people coexists with a desire to secure their loyalty. He finances Martial Soul awakenings, accepts the ostracized Yan Feng, and offers Xiao Xiao's family refuge, but also wants Huo Yuhao firmly committed to his side in an eventual confrontation with Tang San. He is willing to manipulate his disciple's romantic expectations to prevent conflicting loyalties 9 72 76 139 141.

He is affectionate toward Qian Guyi and genuinely devoted to Zhang Lexuan. Although his former authority left him inexperienced at pursuing a relationship, he comes to value Zhang Lexuan's independence and explicitly rejects treating her as an accessory. He tells her that rebuilding Spirit Hall, reviving the Angel Clan, and taking revenge on Tang San—not pursuing additional partners—remain his priorities 40 85 218.

A special opportunity allows Qian Chen to use the Seven Kill Sword and Holy Angel simultaneously. His swordsmanship combines previous proficiency with the Angel God Sword and Sword Douluo Chen Xin's insights 26 41.

The Holy Angel's light suppresses ordinary Evil Soul Masters and destroys evil spirits. During the Strange Stone Valley battle, affected enemies lose at least half their strength, although Bishop Tang is not similarly suppressed 27 37.

• Divine Light of Life — first Soul Skill: Restores severe injuries within moments. Its six-hundred-thousand-year ring improves healing, reduces Soul Power consumption, and shortens its cooldown 46 109.
• Absolute Purification — second Soul Skill: Removes corpse poison and can force Tang San's implanted Divine Sense out of Wang Dong's body, but cannot destroy that Divine Sense itself 104 173.
• Ultimate Ice — third Soul Skill: Grants control over Ultimate Ice, allowing him to freeze targets or shape weapons, cages, and other constructs. Ice replicas of weapons are constructs, not additional Martial Souls 112 113.
