Seventh Dormitory was a special presence within Nuoding Academy. Every student in this dormitory was a Work-Study Student.
Now, Hu Jiu had arrived at this legendary dormitory where boys and girls lived together.
Standing before the door to Seventh Dormitory, Hu Jiu tightened his grip on the hammer in his hand. In a moment, he would use this hammer to forge the perfect first-meeting gift for Xiao Wu.
He knocked on the open door. Once he had drawn everyone's attention, Hu Jiu smiled faintly. "Hello, everyone. I'm a new Work-Study Student. I hope we'll get along."
"You're this year's Work-Study Student?" As soon as he finished speaking, a tall, burly youth stepped up to Hu Jiu and looked down at him. His gaze kept drifting toward the hammer in Hu Jiu's hand. "My name is Wang Sheng. My spirit is the Battle Tiger, and I'm the boss here. What's your name? What's your spirit?"
"Hu Jiu. Carrot Spirit."
"Xiao Jiu, I'm the boss here. From now on, you have to listen to me, understand?" Wang Sheng first glanced at Hu Jiu's hammer. After deciding it was not much of a threat, he spoke arrogantly.
"You want me to listen to you? Sure, but you'll have to ask whether my hammer agrees." Hu Jiu raised the hammer in his hand with a smile.
This was fine too. Before meeting Xiao Wu, a warm-up match would not be bad.
"You brat, you're messing with me. Looks like I'll have to teach you a lesson." Wang Sheng's smile vanished at once. He rubbed his wrists, clearly preparing to make a move.
"Wait!" Hu Jiu shouted, startling Wang Sheng just as he was about to attack.
"What, are you going to back down?" Wang Sheng sneered disdainfully.
Hu Jiu ignored him and walked over to the nearest bed. He carefully set down the bundle on his back as though it were a treasure. It contained the weapon he needed to win Xiao Wu over. Whether he could sleep in the same bed as Xiao Wu depended on it.
Picking up his hammer again, Hu Jiu returned to Wang Sheng and provoked him. "Now we can start. Come on!"
"You're asking for it!" Wang Sheng moved his feet and shot forward, throwing a punch at Hu Jiu's face.
"You should still summon your spirit. Don't forget, I have a weapon." Hu Jiu flicked his right hand, and the hammer instantly caused Wang Sheng's attack to miss.
"Hmph, you forced me to do this." Casting a wary glance at Hu Jiu's hammer, Wang Sheng roared. A ring of white light emerged from his body, and his form began to change. The claws on his hands became Tiger Claws, two fangs protruded from the corners of his mouth, and a faint character for king appeared on his forehead.
Hu Jiu was no fool. While Wang Sheng was transforming, he had already begun swinging his hammer on his own, continuously building up power.
After more than two months, his automated training had brought the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer to Level 5. At this level, he could unleash eighty-one consecutive hammer strikes, each one more powerful than the last.
If he built up to the eighty-first strike, even a Level 20 Soul Grandmaster would be injured by it.
Tiger Claws met hammer. Wang Sheng was sent flying by a single blow from Hu Jiu. Knowing Wang Sheng was not particularly strong, Hu Jiu had only accumulated the force of ten strikes. If he had added a few more, Wang Sheng probably would not have been able to get back up.
That strike hit Wang Sheng hard. He struggled on the ground several times before finally climbing to his feet.
"Xiao—oh, no, Hu Jiu, was that a Soul Skill you used just now?" Wang Sheng swallowed. He had never expected Hu Jiu's support-type Carrot Spirit to be stronger than him, a Battle Soul Master. It was utterly unreasonable.
"No, it's a blacksmithing technique. I just used it in combat." Hu Jiu turned around and went back to his bundle. Carrying it, he picked an empty bed in a better location and opened the bundle, revealing a new set of bedding. Yet in his heart, he was eagerly awaiting Xiao Wu's arrival.
"What? That was a blacksmithing technique?" Hu Jiu's words stunned Wang Sheng and the surrounding students. Hu Jiu's hammer had just sent Wang Sheng flying in one blow. Such a powerful Soul Skill had been called a blacksmithing technique. Wasn't he just showing off?
"You're amazing, Hu Jiu. You beat me, so from now on, you're the boss of the dormitory. We'll all listen to you." Wang Sheng looked at Hu Jiu with admiration, while also secretly breathing a sigh of relief. At least when they were bullied by the other dormitories in the future, someone would finally take the blame.
Hu Jiu gave Wang Sheng, with his thick brows and big eyes, a long look before nodding noncommittally, accepting the position of boss.
But only temporarily, he told himself. He had no intention of keeping this boss position. He would leave this sort of childish squabbling to the Little Rabbit. He had no interest in dealing with such trivial matters.
"Excuse me, is this Seventh Dormitory?"
The clear, crisp voice instantly excited Hu Jiu.
He looked up and saw a graceful young girl. Her cheeks were rosy and soft, like ripe red apples, making people want to rush over and take a bite.
Her black Scorpion Braid hung past her hips. Her large, bright eyes seemed to sparkle with electricity, and she held a brand-new School Uniform in her hands.
Little Dancer had arrived!
"Yes, this is Seventh Dormitory. Are you a new student too? So am I. Looks like we'll be classmates from now on." Hu Jiu discovered that Xiao Wu was even prettier than he had imagined!
"Classmates? Hehe, hello. My name is Xiao Wu, as in dancing." Seeing Hu Jiu's dazed expression, Xiao Wu burst out laughing, her face blossoming into a brilliant smile.
"Ah, hello to you too. My name is Hu Jiu. You..." Hu Jiu was just about to deepen their connection when Wang Sheng suddenly nudged him and whispered in his ear, "Boss, according to our dormitory's tradition, you should compete with her to see who's stronger."
"Oh, I nearly forgot if you hadn't reminded me."
"Ahem, little sister Xiao Wu, our dormitory has a tradition. Whoever has the bigger fists is the boss. I just defeated their strongest person, so I'm the boss now. Do you want to spar with me?" Hu Jiu asked with a smile.
"A fight? I like that! Come on, let's start quickly!" At the mention of fighting, Xiao Wu's Eyes Lit Up, and she became completely excited.
She was a battle fanatic!
"Are you ready? Here I come!" Xiao Wu rose onto the tips of her toes, as though she would charge at Hu Jiu in the next instant.
"Sure, come at me!" Hu Jiu raised the hammer in his hand. The hammer never left his hand, and his hand never left the hammer. Whether man or woman, no one could make him put down his weapon.
As a support-type Soul Master with no offensive power, wielding a weapon in battle was his final stubbornness.
"Yah! Take this!" Seeing that Hu Jiu was ready, Xiao Wu instantly leaped into the air. She performed a beautiful midair flip, then lashed out with her long, straight leg. In the blink of an eye, her kick was about to strike Hu Jiu.
But Hu Jiu on the ground remained unhurried, sweeping his hammer sideways in a single stroke, perfectly demonstrating how true mastery appeared effortless.
He had not practiced the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer for more than two months for nothing. At the very least, he now possessed strength comparable to that of an adult.
