Background & History

Transmigration and Clan Upbringing

Yu Tianheng awakens in the body of a child not yet six years old, while retaining the soul and memories of a man in his twenties. Having read the original story, he recognizes his identity, family connections, and the opportunities that would otherwise benefit Tang San. He decides against becoming Tang San’s follower, doubting that such service would secure a worthwhile future for him or his relatives 1.

He is the eldest grandson in patriarch Yu Yuanzhen’s direct line. His father, Yu Xiaolong, handles much of the clan’s daily business while Yu Yuanzhen cultivates in seclusion. This limited supervision allows Tianheng to conceal his transmigration, system, and early Martial Dao training 2 3.

His successful awakening and Innate Full Soul Power establish him as the clan’s foremost young talent. Yu Yuanzhen personally guides his early cultivation and first Soul Ring hunt. Intervention in the Golden Iron Triangle

Tianheng maintains correspondence with his expelled uncle, Yu Xiaogang, including a carefully placed account of Yu Luomian’s illegitimate daughter. When he learns that Xiaogang has joined Liu Erlong and Flender, he uses his second Soul Ring hunt as an opportunity to find them 14 15 17.

At their meeting, the discovery that Liu Erlong possesses a direct-line clan emblem exposes her connection to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Tianheng’s intervention is intended to prevent the tragedy arising from Xiaogang and Erlong’s family relationship 15 18.

Heaven Dou Royal Academy

Tianheng chooses Heaven Dou Royal Academy partly to build political connections and counter his grandfather’s isolationist attitude. His private objectives include meeting Dugu Yan, reaching Dugu Bo’s medicinal treasures, and establishing contact with Qian Renxue, whom he knows is impersonating Crown Prince Xue Qinghe 25 33 90.

His background, cultivation records, and repeated rejection of Lan Lingmeng’s invitations quickly make him an academy celebrity. Conflicts with Lei Long further strengthen his reputation: he first forces Lei Long to kneel and kowtow, then defeats him again after Lei Long obtains a fourth ring. Lei Long subsequently leaves the academy 33 51 59.

Alongside his studies, Tianheng teaches Martial Dao to Mu Qing and other children, becomes president of Heaven’s Chosen Society, and guides disciples at the Blue Lightning Martial Arts Hall. Through Mu Qing, he also oversees Martial Dao training for the crown prince’s personal guard 51 86 111.

Dugu Yan and Sunset Forest

Tianheng initially courts Dugu Yan to gain access to Dugu Bo and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Months of companionship develop into genuine attachment, and he comes to regard protecting her as his responsibility. After their dual cultivation helps him reach level 44, he proposes marriage and takes her to meet his family 88 102 110 111.

After receiving the elders’ approval, Tianheng approaches Dugu Bo about his poisoning. He correctly describes the symptoms despite being unable to learn anything from his first attempt at pulse-taking. His offer to seek medicinal ingredients earns him passage to Dugu Bo’s garden in Sunset Forest, where he remains to cultivate 133 134 141.

Tournament Championship and Suotuo City

As captain of the Imperial Fighting Team, Tianheng secures Dugu Yan’s appointment as vice captain and prepares the team for the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament. The prospect of an earldom, fief, and private army gives him an additional reason to pursue the championship 157 159.

During the tournament, he kills Shi Nian after resisting his illusion and takes his Wisdom Illusion Soul Bone. In the final battles, Tianheng personally overwhelms Spirit Hall’s Golden Generation, defeating Yan and suppressing Hu Liena and Xie Yue until Bibi Dong intervenes. The Imperial Fighting Team returns to Heaven Dou as champions 182 193 194 200.

Emperor Xue Ye grants him an earldom and Suotuo City. Tianheng declines an imperial marriage offer and marries Dugu Yan instead. Yu Yuanzhen assigns two hundred clan Soul Masters with at least three rings to support his rule, and the couple departs for the city half a month after the wedding celebrations 201.

Slaughter City and Later Conflicts

In Slaughter City, Tianheng exploits the fact that its suppression of Soul Skills does not affect Martial Dao. He claims a residence, reaches twenty consecutive arena victories without injury, and kills more than five hundred people amid arena battles and attacks outside them. He also cultivates a connection with Hu Liena and recruits the native A Chen as part of a plan to obstruct Tang San’s future arena training 223 227.

His absence lasts a year and a half, during which Dugu Yan governs Suotuo City with Dugu Bo’s backing. Later, Tianheng absorbs a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring and badly injures Ghost Douluo when Spirit Hall attempts to seize the accompanying Soul Bone 243 256 257 258.

Divine Martial King

Tianheng brings three thousand troops from Suotuo City to support Xue Qinghe during the palace rebellion, leaving Dugu Bo and two thousand infantry to defend his fief. He leads the Divine Martial Army through the palace defenses and helps crush the uprising 285 288.

Xue Qinghe rewards him with the unprecedented title of Divine Martial King. His later status is second only to the emperor’s, and he commands half the empire’s armed forces 301 334.

Following his Human Immortal breakthrough and two-year seclusion, Tianheng fights Tang Xiao and unveils the Thunder Pattern Ancient Spear. He later interrupts Tang San’s confrontation with the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, injures Tang San with one punch, and challenges the whale king for its Soul Ring; the supplied account ends with that battle underway 305 326 337.

Tianheng is calculating and ambitious, treating foreknowledge, personal strength, and political connections as complementary tools. He deliberately conceals his capabilities, targets opportunities originally associated with Tang San, and seeks the military independence offered by a noble fief. Unlike Yu Yuanzhen, he considers cooperation with outside powers necessary for the clan’s future 24 25 33 159.

His ruthlessness is clearest against enemies: he humiliates Lei Long, destroys evidence after killing Shi Nian, and uses lethal force extensively in Slaughter City. He can also be pragmatic rather than vindictive, accepting Song Guan’s explanation that seeking advantage and avoiding danger is human nature 51 59 182 223.

His attachment to Dugu Yan develops beyond his original opportunism. He acknowledges his selfish motives privately but comes to value her as a lifelong partner, accepts responsibility for her well-being, and refuses an imperial princess’s hand before marrying her 102 111 201.
