Six times gravity, shocking everyone
"Has he gone mad?"
"He really has. Even if he can withstand three times gravity, there's no need to go this fast!"
Everyone stared at the number three on the door in alarm, not because the number was high, but because it had changed so quickly.
"F-four times!"
Suddenly, they saw the three change to a four in an instant, and everyone jumped in fright.
"He's crazy. He's really, truly crazy!"
"Did he start acting recklessly because he found out Yu Yang broke through to become a martial artist?"
"Out of the way, out of the way!"
Just then, Zhou Lei came running over, pushed several people aside, and made his way to the front.
"I heard my big brother was back, and sure enough, four times gravity definitely won't be enough. My big brother can reach six... no, seven times gravity!"
Zhou Lei had originally meant to say six, but on second thought, he felt he might be proven wrong, so he immediately changed it to seven.
"Quick, call Yu Yang and tell him someone's tied his record!"
Someone immediately pulled out a phone and called Yu Yang, paying no attention to Zhou Lei's words. Seven times gravity was nothing more than a joke.
After all, unlike the elemental cultivation rooms, where the temperature rose bit by bit, the gravity room increased gravity a full multiple at a time.
The strain on the body was terrifying.
In a corner of the training ground, Yu Yang had come here after leaving Yang Xue.
This was also where he often rested after cultivating.
He didn't much like resting in his lounge, because his was number two, while the one he had always had his eye on was number one.
Two other trainees were sitting beside Yu Yang.
"Young Master Yang, you shouldn't have any trouble with the General Star selection, right?"
"Yeah, Young Master Yang. You're already number one in the training camp, and our Rongcheng has always done well among the cities in Jiang Province. I doubt any students in the other cities have broken through to become martial artists yet."
The two trainees had just heard about the General Star selection and spoke up.
Yu Yang shook his head. "I'm confident about Jiang Province, but when it comes to the final selection for the whole Western Theater Command, I'm afraid it won't be so easy. Our Dragon Country has so many geniuses."
"Forget it. I'm only telling you this because I'm feeling cooped up. Just making conversation."
With that, he stood up. He had almost recovered and was ready to continue cultivating in the gravity room. Now that he knew about the General Star selection, he had to use every moment to strengthen himself.
Just then, his phone suddenly rang.
"Speak!"
Seeing a trainee's name on the caller ID, he answered and spoke at once.
"Young Master Yang, something's happened! Come to the gravity room, quick!" A tense voice came from the other end of the line.
Yu Yang frowned. "I was just about to go cultivate. What could have happened to the gravity room? Did it break down?"
Unlike the elemental cultivation rooms, of which there were several, there had only ever been one gravity room.
Cultivating in the gravity room cost fewer points than cultivating in an elemental cultivation room, but that was because there were many types of elemental cultivation room, while anyone could cultivate in the gravity room, regardless of which element they had mastered.
So, to accommodate everyone, the points charged were lower than for the elemental cultivation rooms, but the gravity room was far more important.
If something went wrong with the gravity room, they probably wouldn't be able to cultivate in it for a long time, and that would affect the speed of his cultivation.
"Nothing happened to the gravity room. Qin Chen went inside, and he... he's already turned it up to four times gravity!" the voice on the phone said.
"Qin Chen? Four times gravity?" Yu Yang's expression changed.
He immediately hung up and strode toward the classroom building.
The other two trainees were puzzled to see him in such a hurry, but then they noticed that Yu Yang had broken into a run.
They instantly realized something big had happened and hurried after him.
Inside the gravity room.
Qin Chen stood ramrod straight in the room. Soon, he began swinging his fists.
Four times gravity really has surpassed the limit of single-element Peak Body Tempering! Feeling the powerful gravity bearing down on his body, Qin Chen kept assessing it inwardly.
But with his current physical strength, four times gravity only affected him a little at first, and he soon adapted.
Shaking his head, he pressed the button marked five.
Boom!
A sudden force bore down on him, pressing against every part of his body, inside and out, and making him sink sharply.
The higher it gets, the more terrifying the pressure from each additional multiple! Qin Chen's body bent slightly, then he slowly straightened.
Next, he tried raising his hands, then walking around, and finally began to throw punches slowly.
Outside.
When everyone saw the number on the door change from four to five, they were stunned. Some nearly jumped.
"Instructor Yang said five times gravity is the limit for a One-Star Martial Artist who hasn't cultivated any Body Tempering martial arts. How did Qin Chen manage it?"
"Could he have broken through to One-Star Martial Artist too?" someone suddenly asked.
Everyone immediately recalled that Qin Chen might already have broken through to become a martial artist during his last session in the fire-element cultivation room.
"But even if he did break through to One-Star Martial Artist, it's only been a few days. He couldn't possibly have reached the limit so quickly!" someone said, unconvinced.
"Right!"
Many people looked at Yu Yang. He had also just broken through to One-Star Martial Artist, but he could only withstand four times gravity. He would have to work his way up to five; he couldn't keep raising it like Qin Chen.
"Five times!"
Yu Yang's expression had changed as he stared at the number on the door.
"How is that possible?"
After breaking through to One-Star Martial Artist, he had always believed he had surpassed Qin Chen. But thinking back on it now, it was a joke. Perhaps Qin Chen really had become a martial artist, and one who was terrifyingly strong immediately after breaking through at that.
"Maybe Qin Chen's been crushed flat by now?" a trainee suddenly suggested.
Everyone was taken aback, and Yu Yang's whole body jolted.
It wasn't impossible, because the room's alarm would only sound if someone lost consciousness.
"That's right, he must have been crushed flat. I could turn it up to five times gravity too; it would just crush me until I couldn't move. He's no stronger than me!" Yu Yang's confidence suddenly soared.
As long as Qin Chen didn't surpass him, he would still be number one in the training camp.
"S-six times!"
But a trembling voice abruptly woke him from his sweet dream.
Everyone saw that the number on the door had changed to six.
"Is he a monster?" someone couldn't help asking.
The change in the number proved that Qin Chen could still move under five times gravity and wasn't suffering too badly. Otherwise, he couldn't possibly have increased the gravity.
"Hahaha..."
Suddenly, a loud laugh rang out.
"I told you that when my boss showed up, he'd leave you trembling in shock. Well?"
"Six times, six times! Do you believe me now?"
Zhou Lei laughed and spoke without restraint. Looking at everyone's stunned expressions, he was smug beyond measure. This was exactly the result he had wanted to see.
Some of them looked at him, sorely tempted to hit him. The brat was too annoying. Everyone else was focused on how terrifying Qin Chen was, while he was laughing at them.
