Background / History

The Great Dao separated its aspects of Goodness, Order, and Creation—the Authority of Light—from itself to preserve absolute balance. This separated authority reincarnated as Ming Xin, serving as a failsafe against the Great Dao's own Darkness. Ming Xin's reincarnations, travels, and accumulated trials were arranged so he could eventually wield sufficient power to counterbalance that Darkness. 133

When Ming Xin awakened his origin and attained the Great Dao Sage realm, the Great Dao Incarnate appeared and called for him to “return.” Its intervention revealed that the balance between light and darkness had been unstable for too long. 133

Ming Xin rejected the command, declaring himself an independent being rather than an appendage of the Great Dao. He further identified the Darkness of the Great Dao as more than a natural shadow: it had become a monster compounded from the evil karma, despair, ruins, and ending laws of countless worlds, mixed with the Ashes of Dao Tribulation. 134

Unable to suppress its dark side, the Great Dao Incarnate and its Darkness began consuming one another, triggering the collapse of the Chaos Sea and the Myriad Worlds. Ming Xin burned his Authority of Light rather than accept either outcome, using the Myriad Laws Bead to forge a new cosmological order. 134 135

After the old order's final Source Fragments were absorbed, Ming Xin became the new Great Dao and absolute sovereign of the Myriad Dao Universe. 136

Balance of Light and Darkness

The Great Dao's original structure depended on the balance of opposing aspects.
