Setting Out
After parting ways, Snyder and Dath'Remar each returned to their own rooms.
Dath'Remar dragged his weary body back to his house and pushed open the door to go inside.
He reached out and grabbed the remaining bread and roast meat from the table, stuffing it into his mouth without caring whether it was fresh or not, and then took a swig of wine. That was how Dath'Remar's dinner ended.
After finishing his meal, Dath'Remar lay down on the bed to rest.
The events of the day flashed through Dath'Remar's mind like a movie, and he frowned again as he thought of what Snyder had said to him.
"A crisis is brewing, but I don't know exactly what it is." Snyder's words kept echoing in Dath'Remar's mind.
"What should I do?" Dath'Remar lay in bed, troubled.
Dath'Remar fell asleep in his worries, and a dark aura appeared outside Dath'Remar window.
Dark energy seeped in through the window and entered Dath'Remar's body, causing Dath'Remar to twitch suddenly.
This dark aura was Zakajz's last remaining power. Its original target was Jarod, because Jarod had already been corrupted by Zakajz's power at the lakeside. While Zakagi's power didn't corrupt Jarod to the point of complete darkness, it was enough to sow discord between the two groups of elves.
Especially since Jarod wasn't wearing his own weapon at the time, the fusion of Jarod's original weapon and the Silver Hand combined the advantages of both.
The Silver Hand's ability to purify evil was further enhanced after it was combined with the Silver Hand's existing power to do so.
But the dark energy didn't expect that Snyder would use words to persuade Jarod and expel the dark energy from his body.
The black energy within Jarod's body dissipated instantly, leaving behind a tail that targeted the exhausted Dath'Remar.
The Highborne leader was currently experiencing a complex mix of emotions, which gave the dark energy a clear indication of a potential new host. The dark energy then entered Dath'Remar's body. At that moment, emotions such as fear, anger, doubt, confusion, resentment, arrogance, and pride were amplified.
A hidden bomb has been planted here.
The following morning, the Highborne forces were fully prepared and awaiting orders from Dath'Remar.
Snyder and Jarod will also accompany them, along with the Hand of the Bright Moon.
"Where's Dath'Remar? Why hasn't he arrived yet?" Snyder asked, having finished donning his gear.
"Perhaps he's too tired. I noticed yesterday that he didn't seem to be in good spirits when he first arrived." Jarod, fully armored and ready to go, also carried his Silver Blade on his back.
"He has to figure out how to feed so many people, especially since they don't even have a stable home yet. We went through the same thing back then, so I understand," Snyder said.
"You were the one who planned it all out from the start, and we settled down after just a few months of moving," Jarod said.
"They were all working hard for their own people."
"Here he comes." Snyder pointed to Dath'Remar approaching in the distance.
Today, Dath'Remar is wearing his family's heirloom red armor, with the artifact Flamestrike hanging at his waist. Combined with his handsome appearance, this makes him appear exceptionally valiant.
"Hey bro, you look great. You'd be even better if your dark circles were a bit lighter." Snyder walked over and punched Dath'Remar in the chest.
Snyder sensed something was wrong as soon as he started, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it and could only give up for the time being.
"Your warning keeps me awake at night." Dath'Remar's face showed fear.
Snyder was surprised by Dath'Remar's fear; in his memory, Dath'Remar had never shown fear before.
"What's wrong with you? My brother, that's not a common look on your face," Snyder said.
At this moment, the Silver Blade on Jarod's back emitted a faint light. Jarod sensed the change in the weapon on his back and was about to take it off, but he did not do so due to the current situation.
"It's alright, my brother, it'll be fine in a bit," Dath'Remar said, bowing his head, a black glint flashing in his eyes.
"It's good that you're alright. Go give your pep talk; we're leaving soon." Snyder suppressed his doubts and patted Dath'Remar on the shoulder, signaling him to go up on stage and give the pep talk.
Dath'Remar then walked towards the platform that had already been erected. After Dath'Remar left Jarod took the Silver Blade off his back, and Jarod's actions attracted Snyder's attention.
"What's wrong with you? Why did you take your weapon off?" Snyder was puzzled by Jarod's behavior.
Jarod looked at his weapon and, finding it unchanged, began to wonder.
"When Dath'Remar was here, I sensed a slight change in the Silver Blade, but now that change seems to have disappeared," Jarod said, stroking the Silver Blade.
"Perhaps you're imagining things."
The Titan Keepers's weapons are different from ordinary weapons, a fact that Snyder was unaware of.
"Perhaps." Having no other options, Jarod slung the Silver Blade over his shoulder again.
Dath'Remar walked up to the high platform, and he was no longer as fearful as he had been moments before.
"I am Dath'Remar, your leader," Dath'Remar spoke from the high platform.
"We left our ancestral home and drifted at sea for many years to get here."
Dath'Remar's words reminded these Highborne of the days they were banished by their people and forced to drift on the Highborne seas—days that were humiliating and painful in their lives. Some of the Highborne clenched their fists.
They were ostracized as outcasts because of their different habits and the different powers they used; without Dath'Remar Sunstrider, their future would have been filled with darkness.
"Die for Dath'Remar! Long live the Sunstrider!" the Highborne present shouted.
The Highborne ' emotions were stirred up by Dath'Remar's few words.
"My brother, Snyder Raine, a hero of the War of the Ancients, urged me to lead you away from there after the war, but I refused. At that time, I still harbored a sliver of hope for those Night Elf."
"But the result was expulsion, while my brother Snyder led his people away after the war. Now they have established a new home, they live a very happy life, and they are very powerful."
Dath'Remar's words drew the attention of the Highborne to the Eternal Elves. The Highborne, comparing themselves to the Highborne Eternal Elves, immediately saw the difference and lowered their heads in shame.
"But my brother did not abandon us; he led his most elite troops to our aid." Dath'Remar's words made the Highborne, who had been bowing their heads, raise them again.
"I have found a new home! A new home for us Highborne!"
"That place is currently occupied by Troll, but we are not afraid of them. We will crush any enemy that stands in our way!"
"For the Highborne!" Dath'Remar drew his Flamestrike and raised it high.
"For the Highborne!" the Highborne below shouted in unison.
At that moment, another black glint flashed in Dath'Remar's eyes.
