Running Battle
Bandersson sent a force of several hundred men to test the power of the elves, but the entire force was wiped out, leaving only a severely wounded Forest Troll to report on the elves' strength.
After learning the details, Bandersson led his troops to the battlefield and discovered that the elves had already left and the map was no longer of any use.
Surrounded by a large group of Amani Trolls, a Loa priest stepped forward.
The Forest Troll who came with the Loa priests all carried huge backpacks, and there were nearly a hundred of them.
"You've come at the right time. Our enemies have already begun to flee. The divine power of the Dragonhawk Loa - Jan'alai can help us entangle those enemies," Bandersson said respectfully to the Dragonhawk Loa priest beside him.
"Lord Jan'alai has already told me; he instructed me to use his divine power to help you." With that, he began to release the power of the Dragonhawk Loa - Jan'alai sealed within him.
The power of Jan'alai began to manifest in his priest. His mouth turned into an eagle's beak, feathers grew on his arms, his hands became incredibly sharp, his feet became eagle claws, wings grew on his back, and his eyes became eagle eyes, revealing a sharp light.
The Amani Trolls who came with him also took off what was on his back; it was a collection of Dragonhawk eggs.
The Dragonhawk Loa priest began casting a spell, and several Dragonhawk Dragonhawk eggs near him began to tremble. The eggs began to hatch, and cracks appeared in their shells, which grew larger and larger.
With a "click," a baby Dragonhawk hatched from its egg.
"Ah!" The newly hatched Dragonhawk let out its first cry.
The "crunch crunch" sound rang out as the newborn Dragonhawk ate their eggshells. They grew larger and larger, and by the time they finished eating, they had already matured beyond their juvenile stage.
Then they flapped their wings and took to the sky to search for the traces of the relocated Highborne.
"Lord Jan'alai's offspring will help us find those elves," said the Dragonhawk Loa priest, his voice becoming somewhat shrill due to Jan'alai's power.
"Will these Dragonhawk be able to find those elves?" Bandersson asked.
"They are Lord Jan'alai's sons; of course they can find them."
"Besides, they're only in charge of reconnaissance; we're the main force," said the Dragonhawk Loa Priest.
"That's right, everyone stop and rest, and take care of your food and drink." Bandersson directed the troops to rest, preparing to wait for news from the Dragonhawk before taking further action.
The released Dragonhawk obeyed Dragonhawk Loa's command and began searching for the elves' locations.
The Dragonhawk advanced swiftly, finally catching up with the rear guard of the elves.
The Highborne, leading the commoners, couldn't move very fast, and since they were in the forest, they had to be constantly wary of the dangers lurking within.
"What is that?" a Highborne rearguard Warrior asked, pointing to the Dragonhawk in the sky.
"That's just a wild beast. Haven't we seen plenty of wild beasts along the way?" said one of the Highborne beside him.
Along the way, they encountered many wild beasts, all of which were unique to the Eastern Kingdoms.
"Alright." Hearing his fellow Highborne's advice, the Highborne who had discovered the Dragonhawk Dragonhawk stopped caring about it.
The Highborne ' retreat did not slow down despite the Dragonhawk following them.
One of the little Dragonhawk Dragonhawk went back to report to Dragonhawk Loa, while the rest continued to follow the main Highborne elves.
"Look, Lord Jan'alai's offspring have brought us information about those elves," said Dragonhawk Loa, seeing the Dragonhawk flying in from afar.
The arrival of the Dragonhawk made Bandersson stand up as well; he hoped these Dragonhawk could bring him some important intelligence.
The Dragonhawk landed on Dragonhawk Loa's arm and used its special cry to tell Dragonhawk Loa the information it knew about elves.
As the Dragonhawk Loa listened, he nodded. After he finished, the Dragonhawk Loa raised his arm, and the one standing on the Dragonhawk's arm took the opportunity to spread its wings and fly away.
The Dragonhawk, soaring high in the sky, turned back and continued its mission of monitoring the sprites.
"What did it tell you?" Bandersson asked as he walked over.
"He told me that the elves were rushing along, but they had too many civilians and weren't moving very fast."
"The main force of the elves is just ahead. If we pursue them quickly, we can catch up soon," said Dragonhawk Loa, then looked at Bandersson.
"Alright, get up! We're going to hunt down those elves!" Bandersson shouted. The surrounding Forest Troll stood up at Bandersson's command, raising their weapons and letting out deafening roars.
Bandersson then asked the Dragonhawk Loa, "Could you allow Lord Jan'alai's offspring to hatch?"
"Our speed will be slowed down if we carry these Dragonhawk eggs."
"Moreover, these hatched Dragonhawk can temporarily hold off the elves, which perfectly aligns with Shadra's plan," Bandersson said.
Dragonhawk Loa thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement with Bandersson's opinion.
He then began to cast a spell to ripen the Dragonhawk eggs again. More and more Dragonhawk eggs began to emit light, and the cracks in the eggshells increased.
Eventually, all the Dragonhawk eggs hatched, and many Dragonhawk emerged, creating a cacophony of hatching and eating sounds that lasted for some time.
The Dragonhawk, having shed their larval forms, also took to the skies and flew towards the Highborne's relocation force.
"Alright, let's move forward." Bandersson gave the order to advance after seeing that all the Dragonhawk eggs had hatched.
Upon receiving Bandersson's orders, his Forest Troll army marched in a mighty force toward the Highborne's retreating troops.
A large number of Dragonhawk flew towards the Highborne troop relocation site, creating so much noise that the birds in the forest dared not fly out and could only tremble in their nests.
Meanwhile, the Dragonhawk that were monitoring the Highborne began to circle high in the sky.
"Why is this beast chasing us?" asked the Highborne soldier who had first discovered the Dragonhawk.
"I don't know, but their constant hovering over our heads can't be anything good," another Highborne soldier said.
Just as they were talking, a loud shout came from the distance.
The Dragonhawk circling Highborne responded with cries.
Amidst the astonished gazes of the Highborne soldiers, many Dragonhawk flew towards them.
