Geography and Resources
- Extent and scenery: A small mountain range spanning more than ten li, named for its exceptionally beautiful scenery 11.
- Main peak: A second-tier, middle-grade Spirit Vein lies beneath it, sufficient to support the cultivation of at most five Foundation Establishment cultivators 11.
- Summit: The mountain’s most abundant Spiritual Qi is concentrated here, where the Mo Clan established its leadership’s cave abodes and spiritual fields 14.
| Resource or facility | Details |
|---|---|
| Spirit fields | Thirty mu of high-grade spirit fields developed through generations of Mo Clan cultivation 11. |
| Spirit medicine garden | A small garden maintained alongside the spirit fields 11. |
| Treasure pavilion | Held the clan’s accumulated treasures, including high-grade Spirit Artifacts, second-tier supreme-grade talismans, and cultivation resources 14. |
| Talisman inheritance | The Mo Household possessed an inheritance reaching the third tier 14. |
| Cultivation cave abodes | Included a cave abode with the mountain’s densest Spiritual Qi, which Mo Wen used for his breakthrough 43. |
The mountain’s agricultural resources, together with the Mo Household’s shops, mines, and other outside assets, originally generated an annual income exceeding thirty thousand lower-grade Spirit Stones 11.
Defensive Formations
| Formation | Period | Capabilities and fate |
|---|---|---|
| Golden Wind and Raging Fire Grand Formation | Original Mo Clan defense | Built over a Spirit Vein node. Without attacks, the mountain’s vein could sustain its operation for at least three years. Even a Foundation Establishment Middle Stage cultivator would need considerable effort to break it 9. |
| Feng Household mountain-protecting formation | Feng occupation | Protected Feng Xuanling’s branch. Mo Wen breached it during the reclamation; its damaged foundations required repair by a second-tier formation master before reuse 43. |
| Azure Wood Mountain-Fortifying Formation | Installed after reclamation | A second-tier superior-grade formation purchased in Azure Luan Immortal City. Mo Wen judged that, while operating it, he could withstand even a Golden Core True Person’s attack for three to five days 41 43. |
Limitations of the Original Defense
- Repeated Qi Refining attacks could not breach the Golden Wind and Raging Fire Grand Formation, but consumed the Spirit Vein’s Spiritual Qi 11.
- During the siege, nearly one hundred Mo Household Qi Refining cultivators restricted themselves to basic cultivation to reduce pressure on the vein 11.
- The attacking households pooled funds to purchase a second-tier, middle-grade Restriction-Breaking Talisman from Azure Luan Immortal City 13.
History
Founding of the Mo Clan
Approximately 240 years before the siege, High Person Mo He killed the Golden-Eyed Ape, a second-tier, middle-grade Demon Beast that had occupied Jingxiu Mountain for many years. He established the Mo Clan there, and successive generations developed its fields, medicine garden, and clan holdings 11.
By the time Mo Wen learned of the mountain’s impending crisis, the lineage had passed through seven generations and produced three Foundation Establishment cultivators. Two had already died, leaving the elderly Mo Yifeng as its sole remaining Foundation Establishment protector 4.
Isolation and Siege
Mo Yifeng’s presence initially kept Jingxiu Mountain relatively peaceful, although the Mo Clan had begun withdrawing some of its businesses and forces. After his death and Mo Changge’s failed Foundation Establishment attempt, the household sealed the mountain and abandoned its outside properties 5 6.
The neighboring Liu, Feng, Zhang, and Hu Households coveted the mountain’s Spirit Vein and high-grade fields. They sent descendants disguised as Rogue Cultivators, spread rumors, and recruited outsiders. More than five hundred Qi Refining cultivators eventually assembled below the mountain, including over two hundred concealed lineage members 12 13.
The four households agreed that each would send an Early Stage Foundation Establishment cultivator to breach the defenses. Their Qi Refining subordinates would then eliminate the Mo Clan and compete for control: one household would receive Jingxiu Mountain, while the others divided the remaining Mo resources 13.
Fall of Jingxiu Mountain
Seven days after Mo Wen arrived to investigate, the mountain-protecting formation was broken. The assault devastated the grounds: more than half the pines and cypresses toppled, enormous fissures opened along the mountainside, and outer clan buildings were reduced to ruins 14.
The fighting converged on the summit’s treasure pavilion. Mo Changkong gravely wounded Liu Hao with a Purple Lightning Pearl, removing the Liu Household’s immediate claim to the mountain. As the remaining Foundation Establishment cultivators guarded against one another and Rogue Cultivators fought over scattered treasures, the surviving Mo defenders broke out 14 15.
Mo Wen intercepted their pursuers and escorted five survivors toward the Hundred Beasts Mountain Range. They subsequently took refuge at Dragon Snake Cave 15 16.
Feng Household Occupation
The Feng Household ultimately acquired Jingxiu Mountain at an enormous cost. Its first elder, Feng Xuanling, stationed clan members there and established a separate branch, holding the territory for several years 43.
Reclamation
Mo Wen returned after determining that his own Foundation Establishment required exclusive access to at least a second-tier low-grade Spirit Vein. He negotiated with Mo Qingyun to reclaim Jingxiu Mountain, use it temporarily, and then leave its management to the Mo Clan in exchange for copying their talisman inheritance 41 42.
Mo Changge’s group provoked the Feng defenders and drew them away from the formation. Their prepared talismans inflicted heavy casualties, prompting Feng Xuanling to intervene. Mo Wen severely wounded him, and Song Yixue blocked his escape and killed him. The Mo cultivators eliminated the remaining defenders, allowing Mo Wen to retake the mountain and install the Azure Wood Mountain-Fortifying Formation 43.
Mo Wen’s Breakthrough and Handover
Mo Wen began his breakthrough in the mountain’s richest cultivation cave abode. The resulting Spiritual Qi vortex expanded to a radius of three hundred li, attracting nearby Foundation Establishment cultivators and causing speculation that a powerful Golden Core cultivator was practicing a technique 43 44.
After completing Foundation Establishment, Mo Wen appeared under the assumed name Yan Chixia and claimed to serve a peerless Golden Core True Person. When the gathered cultivators remained skeptical, he defeated Yin Jiugong with Sword Qi Thunder Sound and compelled them to leave 44 45.
Mo Wen then handed Jingxiu Mountain to Mo Qingyun in exchange for the Mo Household’s talisman inheritance. Before departing with Song Yixue, he instructed the clan to tell any visiting Golden Core True Person that the supposed resident True Person had already left 45.
