The rare, slightly muscular specialization, though not yet at the level of a template specialization, makes Han Xiao even more resilient.
He remembered that Hila also had a recovery feat, with [Extraordinary Physique] having a similar effect, and the life bonus gave him over three hundred more health points.
"Is it really okay for a mechanic like me to become so tanky...?" Han Xiao was both amused and exasperated. This was forcing him to fight people head-on with his bare hands. He felt that if this continued, his style would be ruined. He just wanted to be a skilled mechanic in peace and quiet. Melee combat was just for brute force!
"I need to find some offensive or crafting feats, but those types of template feats are too rare; the most common template feats are defensive or amplifying."
As a mechanic, the most needed ability is a feat that matches his machinery. Han Xiao has been triggering a feat called [One Shot, One Kill], which, although not a template feat, is still quite effective. It requires dealing massive damage to targets of at least the same level with firearms fifty times. He has already completed nearly forty of these, but now it is becoming increasingly difficult to find enemies of the same level, so it will take some time to complete.
He planned to keep some of the temporary boosting potions for use in the mech's rapid injection module, and store the rest to sell later for a considerable sum of money, preferably to players.
Among these potions, one was incomplete, consisting of only one vial.
[Unknown drug: A semi-finished product of a certain drug, with unknown effects]
Its color was transparent and clear, just like water. Unknown things often have unexpected effects, and Han Xiao had a feeling that this thing was not simple, but he would not use it when the effects were unclear.
"The Louis Research Institute may complete the research later. We'll come back then and see the final product's effect." Han Xiao raised an eyebrow.
To make potions, one needs to switch to the side job of [Apothecary] or acquire knowledge of potion-making within the Mage Class. Han Xiao wasn't interested in potion mixing, as it would just take up a job slot. Moreover, he felt that making potions was different from making mechanics, because potions require strict material ratios and production processes, and even a small mistake could lead to failure. Casting a spell seemed much easier and simpler.
In the afternoon, Han Xiao smuggled himself out of Cambus. He still had a mission to Deterrence and Intimidation in Red Maple. Several officials that Bennett wanted him to intimidate lived in the capital of Red Maple, and two scouts were already waiting in Maple Leaf City.
The capital of Red Maple is called "Karimoqi," which means Maple Leaf City.
The consortium behind the Louis Research Institute immediately posted a bounty on the Dark Net, targeting "Heisenberg," along with a picture of Han Xiao's appearance in the research institute and a brief surveillance video of him rushing out of the institute in mecha.
Germinal quickly saw this intelligence.
There is no such executive officer in the organization.
The leader looked surprised. The organization only had some hidden intelligence agents and spies left on other continents. He had never sent anyone to rob a civilian research institute. There was only one possibility: this "Heisenberg" was an imposter, deliberately using the Germinal as an excuse.
He didn't even think it was a frame-up... because framing Germinal was completely unnecessary; the whole world was targeting them, and they didn't care about having another enemy.
Ever since Germinal became a drowning dog, all sorts of nobodies have treated them like toothless tigers, kicking them while they're down. From which crack in the rock did this Heisenberg come out, a nobody?
The leader's focus, however, was on the mecha's performance. He was surprised to find that this mecha even surpassed the organization's technology, and even the super soldier experiments, which had been making groundbreaking progress, had not achieved this level of practicality.
"If we could acquire the technology for this mech, the organization's individual combat capabilities would see a leap forward. Which faction developed this new mech? If it's the enemy...?"
The leader tightened his grip on the corner of the table, leaving clear fingerprints on the steel surface. His tone was grave as he ordered, "Have the intelligence network secretly monitor the movements of the user of this mech. I need to know everything he does."
Unfortunately, this was the only time Han Xiao's mecha and the book were observed. The intelligence agents at the Germinal couldn't find any more information, making it extremely mysterious.
"A force capable of developing such mechs must have enormous resources supporting it." The leader felt he had discovered the tip of the iceberg of a hidden power, but unfortunately, without any clues, he had to leave it at that for the time being.
He composed himself and asked about something else, "How's the capture of the Inhuman going?"
The deputy produced a file. "We have captured 2,103 Inhuman with supernatural abilities so far. Originally, these Inhuman lived in a few fixed locations, but they have been actively evading our capture, dispersing to other areas. More and more people are resisting arrest, which is hindering our operations."
"Mr. Cerberus has a new theory. Experiments show that even without brainwashing, these Inhuman will accept various forms of employment, act with great purpose, lack Inhuman sense, speak strangely, and seem to have some special way of connecting with Inhuman. Some Inhuman know each other, and the reason is under investigation, but there has been no further progress. 'These Inhuman are more like ancient people who traveled from the past'... uh, these are Mr. Cerberus's exact words."
Leader: "What is the reaction of the Six Nations to the Inhuman?"
"Intelligence indicates that the Six Nations have each dispatched their own teams to contact the Inhuman, with varying attitudes ranging from mild to hardline..."
The leader nodded and pondered, "They've halted their war preparations, but they won't stop forever. Agents from various countries have already infiltrated Andia to find them. I want their every move under our surveillance. I have a feeling that the Inhuman will be the key to our victory in this war."
The sunglasses reflected the exterior of a luxurious villa, along with plainclothes special agents patrolling the estate. An elderly white man dressed like a homeless person pushed up his sunglasses, touched the round hat covering his bald head, and the miniature earpiece hidden in the hat behind his ear.
"A four-story duplex villa. The manor gate requires an internal system to open. There are two standard special operations teams patrolling outside the manor, and one team inside, totaling eighteen special operations personnel. The target leaves at eight o'clock every morning, in an armored car, escorted by the two teams. They have lunch in the restaurant inside the government building and return home between six and seven o'clock in the afternoon, with the same personnel escorting them."
Hannes adjusted his sunglasses and spoke softly into his earpiece, "The target lives in the Red Maple political district. There are many police patrols and sentries on the streets. If we're going to make a move on the street, we'd better act quickly."
A calm female voice came through the headset. Vernina said lightly, "Then let's get on the road. It reminds me of those old days."
Hannes complained, "I must be crazy! I'm retired, yet I still have to come out here with you guys to do things, and to kidnap a high-ranking official from Red Maple! Damn it, Grian, why the hell did you come to me? Why didn't you go to Bennett? That guy is still fighting on the front lines. Why did you have to come to me, a retired old man? Can't you let me have a few years of peace and quiet?!"
"Hmph, you owe me a favor, and I don't like Bennett. That guy left me with three gun barrels thirty-three years ago." A third voice came through the earpiece. Grian was a burly man with a booming voice. "Stop complaining like a woman all day long. Has your leisurely life of growing vegetables and waiting to die worn down your toughness and turned you into a spineless woman?"
Vernina calmly said, "Gentlemen, don't forget there's a woman here too."
"I'm already 68 years old, and you're a year older than me. It's abnormal for you to still be thinking about fighting and killing." Hannes was speechless.
"Hmph, not even seventy yet, is that old?" Grian grumbled for a moment, then his tone changed, and he said seriously, "There will be patrolling police around the corner in nine seconds. Be careful to hide."
Hannes, hunched over, instantly became insignificant. Nine seconds later, a patrolling policeman emerged from around the corner, saw Hannes, and walked up to him, shouting, "ID check!"
Hannes pulled out a forged document that looked remarkably real. The policeman glanced at it, handed it back, and shouted, "Don't linger here, get out of here!"
Hannes moved slowly, like an old man, until he rounded a corner, at which point his steps quickened, and he whispered, "There are too many patrolling police and sentries in this area. If we want to kidnap a target silently, it's best to do it at night."
"Come back first, the three of us will discuss how to proceed," Grian said in a deep voice.
