Privileged Access to the Gravity Room
"Fang Yu, you're not the only one curious about that. In fact, we all are."
Xia Yao lowered her voice. "Whether we're in the safe zone or the wilderness zone, whenever we kill a vicious beast, we immediately get a notification on our communication star rings showing how many Primal Points we've earned."
"Even if a vicious beast escapes our sight and bleeds to death, we still get a points notification."
"Likewise."
"Take our team, for example. If Qin Yang shoots a vicious beast from a distance, all the Primal Points should logically go to him... but if we've done the relevant scouting and kept watch, we'll also get our share of Primal Points."
"Today."
"I went with you to look for vicious beasts. You earned 2.2 points hunting them, and I gradually earned 0.2 points by helping you find them." Xia Yao sighed. "It's as if, somewhere out there, something can monitor everything on Primordial Star... all of us martial artists are under surveillance."
"Surveillance?" Fang Yu looked thoughtful.
"There's no need to dig too deeply into these questions," Xia Yao said. "In any case, all we can do is follow the rules and maximize our own benefits within the limits they allow."
"Mm."
"Go back and get some rest. Meet in the captain's room at two tomorrow afternoon."
Back in his room.
Fang Yu first took a refreshing shower. Looking at the sharply chiseled lines of his muscles in the mirror, he couldn't help smiling at his own reflection. "My face seems to have gotten a little more handsome."
He got dressed.
He handed the full combat suit, boots, arm guards, and other equipment he had taken off, along with his saber, to two robots that had come to collect them.
One robot took the items away for cleaning and maintenance.
"Warrior Fang Yu, you have been promoted to a first-tier warrior."
The other robot spoke, its voice no longer quite so cold. "Your free privileges now include daily cleaning of your combat suit and equipment, two high-energy meals a day... and two hours of access to a gravity room each month."
The robot rattled off nearly ten new privileges in one breath.
Of course.
Most of the privileges weren't particularly significant, but the last one made Fang Yu's eyes light up.
A gravity room!
Two hours of access.
I haven't used a gravity room before. Once I've rested, I'll try it tomorrow morning, Fang Yu thought, quickly filling out an application on the Primal Network.
Just ten minutes later, the application was approved.
"Looks like Starry Sky Base has far more gravity rooms than the martial arts university. Plenty of them are available," Fang Yu immediately concluded.
Starry Sky Base was held in high regard by many independent martial artists, and Jiang Wei had suggested Fang Yu come here from the start.
One important reason was the privileges that came with rank.
The higher a civilization warrior's tier, the more cultivation privileges they received.
On Blue Star.
Only a few places, such as martial arts universities and martial artist groups, had gravity rooms, and the conditions for using them were strict. At Huguang Martial Arts University, for example, only elite students had a certain amount of access. Ordinary students never even got to see one.
Wuling City Martial Arts College didn't have a single gravity room.
But on Primordial Star, anyone who became a first-tier civilization warrior gained access to a gravity room. Even if it was only for two hours, that was still beyond the reach of most martial artists on Blue Star.
It was something that was hard to obtain even with money.
Second-tier civilization warriors, third-tier civilization warriors...
The higher the rank, the more extraordinary the various cultivation privileges, treasure-purchasing privileges, and so on would become.
Take Uncle Gu, whom Fang Yu had met. The functions of the universal auxiliary device he wore on his wrist were astonishing, and only fourth-tier civilization warriors could buy one.
There are also all kinds of free privileges. They seem ordinary, but they can save a lot of time and money, Fang Yu thought. If an independent martial artist wants to keep progressing on the martial path...
Then coming to Primordial Star to make their way is the best choice.
The risks were great, but so were the rewards.
Most importantly, making one's way on Primordial Star depended mainly on strength... for most people, that was as fair as it could get.
At nine the next morning, the nineteenth.
After a night's rest.
Feeling refreshed, Fang Yu followed a guide robot and arrived on time at the sixth floor of one of the metal buildings. Every room here was identical except for its number, and very few people came and went.
They arrived outside room 677.
"Warrior Fang Yu," the robot said in a low voice. "This is your first time entering a gravity room, so I will first emphasize the precautions. A basic gravity room can increase gravity to a maximum of thirty-two times Blue Star's gravity, or 32G. But at first, you should start at 1.5 times gravity and increase it gradually to avoid unnecessary bodily harm."
"Although the gravity room has protective settings, many martial artists are injured every year."
"Also, training in a gravity room exercises the muscles and bones throughout your body, but it also places an additional burden on your bones, internal organs, and so on. Therefore, one hour per session is recommended."
"As a first-tier civilization warrior, you may use your time in two sessions."
"You are still only an intermediate martial artist and have not cultivated Star Power... if your body is injured, you will be unable to recover quickly. In short, safety comes first."
"Also, please note that once your allotted time runs out and the alert sounds, you should leave the gravity room as soon as possible. Primal Points will be deducted for overtime, at a rate of 1,000 Primal Points per hour," the robot said coldly. "Any fraction of an hour will be counted as a full hour. If you do not have enough Primal Points to cover the deduction, it will be converted into a 'malicious loan,' with annual interest calculated at 100%."
What a rip-off!
Fang Yu grumbled inwardly, though he also understood that this was how Starry Sky Base ensured no one broke the rules.
Soon.
The gravity room's door was pushed open. The space inside wasn't particularly large: it was a sealed metal chamber, six meters long and six meters wide. The walls and floor were made of silvery-white metal, though Fang Yu couldn't tell what kind.
Following the instructions.
Fang Yu stripped down to his underwear and stood in the middle of the gravity room.
Boom! The metal door closed.
"Activate gravity at 1.5 times Blue Star's standard gravity, then gradually increase it to six times," Fang Yu said.
Hum!
The instant the equipment activated, Fang Yu felt as though someone had pressed down on his shoulders. His whole body seemed to sink, every bone pulling downward, and even his blood seemed to flow more slowly.
Even breathing gradually became difficult.
"Zhoutian Star Stance." Fang Yu spread his arms and legs and assumed the stance. As gravity rapidly increased, he felt the pressure on both body and mind.
When it reached six times gravity, Fang Yu felt somewhat uncomfortable.
It was worse than carrying several thousand kilograms of weight.
This gravity room really is amazing. Fang Yu continued doing his best to hold the stance, trying to calm his mind. Before the Great Burning Heaven Era, a famous animated series had a similar piece of technology.
Now it's become reality.
Training in a gravity room will greatly increase my cultivation efficiency, and my life level will rise faster too, Fang Yu thought. This had been mentioned in the relevant courses at his college.
The pressure of gravity acted on every part of the body.
Fitness equipment, by contrast, could usually exercise only specific areas.
Even experts with minute control over their bodies couldn't circulate their qi and blood at the cellular level... but gravity acted directly on the body's finest particles, reaching even deeper than the cellular level.
Why does reaching the minute level in technique allow someone to tap more of the body's potential? Because their control over their body is fine enough to exercise it on a deeper level.
The more precise the exercise, the better the body absorbs various qi and blood potions and Star Power.
A gravity room...
Is essentially a way to use an external force to exercise the whole body on a deep level, Fang Yu thought. If I also practice stance training and the Twenty-Four Basic Fist Forms in this environment, my cultivation efficiency will be even higher.
An ordinary martial artist's cultivation efficiency would improve greatly in this environment.
That was even more true for an expert in technique.
The strong only grew stronger!
For an ordinary martial artist, one hour of training to the limit in a gravity room per session is best.
But I've reached major accomplishment at the minute level in technique. Even if I keep going for two hours, I can maintain peak efficiency. A trace of anticipation rose in Fang Yu's heart. I hope it doesn't disappoint me.
There was a reason he wanted to use up his entire time allowance at once.
Fang Yu wanted his body to feel "hungry" again. Only then could he take more Crimson Star Pills.
