Two Upper Astral Aspects in One Family
"Brother."
"Brother! You're back? I missed you so much." Two voices rang out almost simultaneously in the living room. The first was joyful, while the second carried a hint of excitement.
A tall girl in a white school uniform rushed over, excitedly jumped up, and wrapped her arms around Fang Yu's neck, half draping herself over his back.
"Siyue, I just finished practicing my punches. I'm covered in sweat," Fang Yu said with a smile.
"I'm going to take a shower later anyway," the girl said with a grin. "Xiaolong, take my schoolbag upstairs too."
The sturdy, stocky boy, whose face still retained a hint of childishness, smiled helplessly. He seemed to have grown used to her.
"Xiaolong, listen to your sister. Go put your things away, then come down for dinner," Fang Yu said with a smile.
These were his younger siblings, a pair of twins.
His younger sister, Fang Siyue, was the second child.
His younger brother, Fang Long, was the third.
Both were fifteen this year.
"Brother, you can actually cook? What did you make?" Fang Siyue looked curiously toward the kitchen. There was no sign that anything had been stir-fried.
"I heated up some high-energy nutritional meals. They're being kept warm," Fang Yu said with a smile.
"Ah!" the girl wailed. "I knew it! Brother, I got my hopes up for nothing. I'm not eating a nutritional meal. I'm going to ask Grandpa to order me takeout!!!"
"Takeout isn't healthy. You've both started martial arts cultivation, so you need to watch what you eat," Fang Yu said with a smile, affectionately patting her hair, which was tied in a bun.
Martial arts cultivation.
Before reaching a very high level, one had to endure loneliness and all kinds of pain, and give up many things besides-such as good food!
An eldest brother's fist stood in for a father's.
Under Fang Yu's 'patient guidance,' Fang Siyue and Fang Long 'obediently' finished the high-energy nutritional meals he had prepared.
After the meal.
"How did the martial arts talent test go?" Fang Yu asked.
The two exchanged a glance and smiled.
"Brother, we both fell into a deep sleep with the help of an instrument," Fang Long said with a guileless smile. "Sis and I each visualized an Astral Aspect. It was a python, and we made an initial attempt at 'Star Power Entering the Body.'"
"A python?" Fang Yu's eyes lit up.
Before becoming Junior Martial Artists, ordinary people were limited by their frail bodies and insufficiently strong spiritual power. Even if they awakened a Void Star Aspect, they would have difficulty sensing it themselves.
Therefore, they had to use a special instrument to help them enter a deep sleep.
Only then could it be determined whether they had awakened an Astral Aspect.
The instrument had only appeared in the past decade or so, and it was also the reason talented martial artists had been emerging in the Blue Moon Alliance in recent years.
After all, the earlier talent was discovered and nurtured, the better the golden years of cultivation could be used, and the greater the chance of becoming a supreme expert in the future.
Fang Siyue and Fang Long had both been able to visualize one, which meant they had awakened Void Star Aspects.
There were more than ten Astral Aspects related to pythons.
"Did you find out exactly which Astral Aspect it was?" Fang Yu pressed, unable to keep a figure with gentle eyes from appearing in his mind.
"The examiner said it was called Sun-Devouring," Fang Siyue said, no longer keeping him in suspense. They had held back from telling him just now because they wanted to surprise their family.
Smack!
Fang Yu sprang to his feet, his eyes shining and his body trembling slightly despite himself. "Siyue, are you sure?"
Fang Siyue nodded quickly.
Fang Yu's gaze burned.
According to Hundred Aspects of the Void, the Sun-Devouring Python was one of the twelve Upper Astral Aspects. Its Innate Divine Ability, 'Sun-Devouring,' could absorb the essence of the sun and the radiance of the moon, allowing its level of life to grow extremely quickly.
Each of the twelve Upper Astral Aspects was special.
At that thought.
"Grandpa!" Fang Yu called directly upstairs, his voice carrying a long way.
"My eldest grandson, do you need something? If not, I'll keep playing my game for a while," Fang Zhiyuan called down from the stairwell before he appeared.
Soon.
Fang Zhiyuan poked his head out and looked down.
"My granddaughter and youngest grandson are both back? How did today's test go?" Fang Zhiyuan asked Fang Siyue and Fang Long with a cheerful smile.
"Grandpa," the two said, quickly getting to their feet.
"Grandpa," Fang Yu said solemnly, "Xiaolong and Siyue both said they awakened a superior Astral Aspect-the Sun-Devouring Python."
The words "Sun-Devouring Python"
left even the usually carefree and unpredictable Fang Zhiyuan stunned. His expression turned unusually serious, and his voice grew slightly lower. "Really? Are you sure?"
Although Fang Siyue and Fang Long were only fifteen,
they weren't stupid.
When they saw that their eldest brother and grandfather were more than simply happy, they both realized that their awakening of the Sun-Devouring Python didn't seem so simple.
"Grandpa, this is my 'test certificate.'" Fang Siyue quickly took out a sheet of paper.
"I have one too," Fang Long added. "Our test results have already been entered into the overall results sheet. They should have been sent back to the school by now."
Fang Zhiyuan and Fang Yu understood.
There probably wasn't any mistake.
As an important criterion for admitting students to key high schools, the martial arts talent test was one of the Martial Arts Department and Youth Martial Arts Division's major responsibilities. It was extremely strict, second only to the college entrance examination.
"Xiaoyu, tell your dad," Fang Zhiyuan said, for once not calling him "my eldest grandson."
Fang Yu called immediately.
There was no answer. A message said the line was busy.
Fang Yu chose to leave a message.
Just seconds later, he received a reply from his father, Fang Ping'an: "I already know Xiaolong and Siyue's test results... Wuling City No. 1 Senior High School and the Galaxy Group have both contacted me. I'll be home in half an hour. Tell Xiaolong and Siyue to stay home and not go anywhere."
Fang Yu put down his phone.
He knew what his father meant.
The city's No. 1 Senior High School was the best public high school in Wuling City.
The Galaxy Group was one of the eight great martial artist groups. It had been founded by Ye Xinghe, the strongest person in civilization. As Ye Xinghe's homeland, Xia Nation was naturally a major area of operation for the Galaxy Group, which had established private high schools throughout the country.
Superior Astral Aspects were rare.
In all of Wuling City, at most a few dozen students or martial artists awakened superior Astral Aspects each year. Compared with the nearly one hundred thousand examinees each year, one could imagine how low the odds were.
Even after awakening an Upper Astral Aspect, the chances of getting into Crescent Moon Martial Arts University were still very low.
But there was still a good chance of getting into one of New Moon's ten key martial arts universities... Even if one's aptitude for techniques was terrible, admission to an undergraduate martial arts program was guaranteed at the very least.
There was a widely accepted saying.
As long as you weren't a pig, once you awakened a superior Astral Aspect, you could at least become an Advanced Martial Artist... Advanced Martial Artists could easily earn over a million a year, and if they were willing to take risks and fight hard, they even had a chance of earning over ten million in a year.
Advanced Martial Artist.
That was what most parents hoped their children would become. After all, the chances of advancing further to become an Earth Martial Artist or a Sky-Roving Martial Artist were simply too low.
However.
For the Fang family, Fang Siyue and Fang Long had done more than simply awaken an Upper Astral Aspect... Most importantly, they had awakened the Sun-Devouring Python.
"The hopes of three generations."
Are they really about to be fulfilled? Fang Yu wondered. He knew how long his father had waited for this day.
Night fell. A black sedan with "autopilot" enabled was speeding along an elevated road.
Inside the car.
The burly driver was on the phone.
"Old Gao! It's me, Fang Ping'an." The handsome driver said with a cheerful smile, "About the money from last time, I need it urgently now. Could you transfer it to me first?"
"Don't worry, it's not that the supermarket is having cash flow problems..."
He ended the call.
Phew!
Fang Ping'an frowned slightly. "For Xiaolong and Siyue to lay the best possible martial arts foundation, it would be best for them to take some foundation-building treasures now. The best would be the Myriad Phenomena Life-Transforming Fruit."
"One costs two million, so two would be four million... Ideally, they'd each take one a year for three years, until they're eighteen."
"Even if they sign with the Galaxy Group now, there's no way the group would give them that much money."
"I'll have to find a way." Fang Ping'an's brow furrowed deeply.
