Police station turmoil
Holding his phone, Lin Feng strode through the law firm's quiet and somewhat oppressive office area, ignoring the angry gaze from Lawyer Chen behind him that seemed to burn his back.
He pushed open the heavy fire door and walked into the empty stairwell, where only the emergency lights emitted a pale white glow, and the air was filled with a faint smell of dust.
"Hello," Lin Feng said into the phone, his voice echoing slightly in the enclosed stairwell.
The voice on the other end of the phone was stern, identifying itself as a police officer from the local police station near Lin Feng's apartment complex. Its tone was formulaic yet authoritative. "Is this Mr. Lin Feng? We need you to come over this morning to help us understand the details of the dispute that occurred in the elevator of your building."
Lin Feng wasn't surprised. Given Lü Yi's style and how difficult that family was, calling the police was almost inevitable. Without hesitation, he agreed immediately, "Okay, I understand. I'll be right there."
After hanging up the phone, he glanced at the time on his phone screen; it was only a little past eight in the morning. He hesitated for a moment, deciding not to contact Lawyer Zhou directly via telepathy—although that would be faster—but as he thought, "leave a record of your work," especially when someone takes leave for personal reasons so soon after starting the job; a formal phone call would be more appropriate and respectful.
He dialed Zhou Wenyuan's number, and the call was quickly answered.
"Lawyer Zhou, it's me, Lin Feng."
"Mr. Lin, have you arrived at the law firm? How are you feeling?" Lawyer Zhou's voice was as calm and steady as ever.
"I've arrived. But I just received a call from the police station about what happened in the elevator this morning; they need me to come over to cooperate with the investigation," Lin Feng explained succinctly. "So, I need to ask for leave this morning."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone. Lawyer Zhou clearly understood the connection between the two matters immediately. He didn't ask for details, but simply replied, "Understood. Just handle it. Don't worry about the law firm. Contact me anytime if you need anything."
"Thanks."
After ending the call, Lin Feng didn't return to the law firm to get his coat. Instead, he took the elevator downstairs, hailed a taxi at the entrance of the office building, and gave them the address of the police station.
The morning rush hour hadn't completely subsided, and the taxi moved slowly through the congested traffic. Lin Feng leaned back in his seat, watching the city street scenes rushing past the window, his face expressionless, his heart calm and undisturbed.
Upon arriving at the police station, after explaining his purpose to the officer at the front desk, a young officer led him to the door of a room with a sign that read "Mediation Room." The moment he pushed open the door, an atmosphere mixed with the smell of smoke, sweat, and intense emotions hit him.
The mediation room was small and simply furnished, with a rectangular table and a few chairs. At that moment, a one-sided outburst was unfolding inside.
The bald, burly man, Sun Qiang, was standing to one side of the table, his face red and neck thick, spitting as he pointed at Lü Yi, who was sitting opposite him, arms crossed, and began to curse:
"... Let me tell you! This isn't over! My mom and my son are both in the hospital getting checked out! You better pray they're all fine! If they find any internal injuries or concussions, I'll fucking kill you! You'll regret it!!"
His voice was loud and threatening, but a calculating glint flashed deep in his eyes. He was planning how to use this opportunity to pull some strings and exaggerate his mother's "soft tissue contusion" and his son's "excessive fright" as much as possible, hoping to get a minor injury diagnosis. He was confident that this hothead would pay him tens of thousands of yuan in compensation.
An older police officer sat in the middle, his brow furrowed. Seeing Sun Qiang's increasingly outrageous remarks, he slammed his fist on the table and warned sternly, "Sun Qiang! Watch your words! This is a police station! Threatening others is illegal! State your demands clearly!"
Lü Yi, the person being insulted, acted completely indifferent. He even adjusted his posture to make himself more comfortable, wearing his usual smile as if watching a monkey show, ignoring all of Sun Qiang's insults and threats.
Just then, Lin Feng pushed open the door and walked in.
Sun Qiang's cursing stopped abruptly, and his gaze instantly turned like a knife towards Lin Feng. He recognized this person; he was with this Madman man who had been beating people that morning! Lü Yi's words were unresponsive, leaving him feeling frustrated, like punching cotton. Now, seeing another "protagonist" appear, he immediately turned all his anger and anger towards Lin Feng, trying to find a breakthrough from him.
He abruptly turned to face Lin Feng, his face contorted with excitement, and opened his mouth, about to unleash his roaring technique once more—
"You fucking..."
The three words had barely left his lips, not even the last syllable had completely faded!
A sudden change has occurred!
Lü Yi, who had been sitting quietly, suddenly moved without warning! His movements were as fast as lightning, even creating a gust of wind! No one saw how he got up or how he exerted his strength. All they saw was him leap up like a cheetah, his right leg drawing a sharp arc in the air, delivering a powerful side kick that landed squarely on Sun Qiang's face, which was contorted with rage!
"Bang!!"
A dull thud that made your teeth ache!
Before Sun Qiang could even react, he felt an indescribable force coming from his face, as if he had been hit head-on by a speeding motorcycle! His burly body, weighing over 180 pounds, was kicked so hard that he flew backward, his back slamming heavily against the cold wall of the mediation room with a loud thud, before finally collapsing to the ground like a lump of mud.
He collapsed to the ground, completely stunned by the kick. His ears were ringing, and everything went black. He instinctively opened his mouth, and a salty, fishy liquid mixed with several hard white objects gushed out—blood and at least two front teeth!
"Ugh... ho..." he groaned painfully, incomprehensibly, unable to utter a complete sentence.
However, Lü Yi's attacks did not stop.
His eyes gleamed with a pure and dangerous excitement. He strode over to Sun Qiang, who was slumped on the ground, and without hesitation, he raised his foot and kicked Sun Qiang's shiny bald head as if it were an eyesore—once, twice, three times... with all his might!
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The dull thuds echoed in the small mediation room, accompanied by Sun Qiang's suppressed, bellows-like wails.
"Stop!!"
"Stop him!!"
The two police officers standing nearby were completely shocked by the sudden violence occurring inside the police station, and it took them a couple of seconds to react. Almost simultaneously, they pounced on him, using all their strength. One of them grabbed Lü Yi's waist from behind, while the other struggled to grab his kicking legs. With tremendous effort, they finally managed to subdue the seemingly crazed Lü Yi, pin him to the ground, and quickly pulled out handcuffs.
"Are you fucking crazy?! How dare you lay a hand on me here?!" The young policeman who had subdued Lü Yi shouted breathlessly, both shocked and furious.
Lü Yi was pinned to the ground, her face pressed against the cold floor, yet she was still laughing. Her laughter was low and eerie, sending chills down one's spine.
The scene was chaotic. Another police officer quickly checked Sun Qiang's injuries and saw that his face was covered in blood, his nose was crooked to one side, his front teeth were missing, and his forehead and scalp were covered with clear shoe prints, swollen up high, making him look extremely miserable.
"Call an ambulance! Quickly!" The older police officer shouted towards the door, his face ashen. Soon, two other officers arrived and helped to forcibly remove Lü Yi, who was still struggling and making strange noises, from the mediation room and send him to the detention area. At the same time, they also carried out Sun Qiang, who was barely alive and groaning incessantly, intending to give him emergency treatment before sending him to the hospital.
Inside the mediation room, only Lin Feng and the elderly police officer, still shaken, remained for the time being.
The older police officer, surnamed Li, took out a handkerchief and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, feeling his heart still pounding wildly. He had been a policeman for over a decade and had seen all sorts of people, but he had never seen anyone like Lü Yi, who could act so suddenly and ruthlessly in the police station's mediation room, right in front of the officers.
This is no longer just a regular fight. Beating someone up like this in front of the police (especially knocking out their teeth) almost certainly carries the charge of intentional assault.
Officer Li took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself down, before turning his gaze to Lin Feng, who had been standing quietly by the door as if he were merely an observer. He forced an extremely awkward smile and pointed to the chair beside the table:
"Sit down, Lin Feng, right? Let's talk about what happened this morning."
Lin Feng sat down as instructed, looking completely at ease, as if the bloody farce that had just occurred had nothing to do with him. He succinctly and objectively recounted what had happened in the elevator that morning—from the boy's repeated kicks and shoves to the middle-aged woman's unreasonable behavior, and then to his own departure. As for Lü Yi's subsequent "punishment," he simply mentioned "a conflict occurred" in passing.
After finishing, he added the most crucial information, "Regarding Lü Yi, his situation is rather special. He suffers from bipolar disorder and is a registered patient at the Municipal Mental Health Center, currently undergoing home treatment. Moreover, he is an orphan with no immediate family members."
Officer Li listened to Lin Feng's account, especially the additional information about Lü Yi at the end, he felt his back teeth begin to ache and his temples throb.
The mentally ill patient's behavior defies common sense, which explains his violent and unpredictable nature.
Being an orphan means having no legal guardian, making it difficult to seek civil compensation.
Looking at Lü Yi's appearance, it was clear that she was also penniless.
No money, no savings, no full civil capacity, and no legal guardian!
This is simply... a fully stacked buff!
