For a homebody like Chiffon, researching Quirks at home was a very meaningful thing. By now, he had become familiar with the basic uses of his Thunder Quirk and Air Manipulation.
He opened his right hand, and arcs of blue electricity crackled through the air. With a thought from Chiffon, the blue current instantly shot toward a glass on the washstand five meters away.
As expected, the glass was shattered by the blue current, its fragments falling toward the floor. Chiffon swept his left hand, and an invisible force appeared. The glass fragments actually floated up and flew into the trash can.
Looking at his hands, each possessing a different power, Chiffon smiled faintly. "It's time to apply to study abroad in Japan."
Japan was home to many powerful people. At present, the major forces were still in a relatively stable period. Once the Sludge Incident arrived, a new era would begin.
Chiffon did not need to worry about not knowing Japanese in Japan. When he came to this world, the previous owner of this body had been fluent in eight languages and an exceptional student. Naturally, he had inherited those talents after transmigrating here.
There was an organization in his country that specifically supported disadvantaged families. They were especially willing to help top students like Chiffon.
Going to Japan only required handling the visa. Since he was going there to study, the visa period was extended. The local department had reminded Chiffon that once he got there, he could only rely on himself. After all, even if they supported him, they could not cover his monthly expenses.
At the time, Chiffon had patted his chest and promised that once he got there, he would rely entirely on himself.
The study-abroad procedures went through smoothly. After all, this world differed somewhat from his original one. Some matters that seemed complicated there were not considered complicated here.
Checking the date, he saw that he would depart on October 15th. In other words, one week later, Chiffon would set foot in Japan and witness the so-called world of heroes.
Chiffon was greatly looking forward to it. Could he change some things that seemed unchangeable in the anime?
Izuku was indeed the protagonist of this world, but Chiffon had his own advantages as well. As for who was stronger, that remained unknown. After all, he had yet to face One For All.
One week later.
Having packed his luggage, Chiffon was already on a plane bound for Japan. He had saved quite a bit of money these past days, most of it obtained from hoodlums with Quirks. After converting it all into yen, he had more than 160,000 yen—equivalent to 10,000 yuan.
This money was enough for Chiffon. Of course, now that he had arrived in the heroes' home territory, he could not keep taking money from hoodlums without restraint. He would have to keep a low profile.
Chiffon had just stepped off the plane and was about to take a taxi to Pingchuan High School when an explosion sounded to his left.
Boom!
"Get the hell out of my way! I'm going to kill this bastard!" A furious roar came from within the blast. After the black smoke dispersed, Chiffon saw a man with enormous arms standing before another man lying on the ground, trembling in fear.
"A violent incident involving improper Quirk use?" Chiffon rubbed his forehead. He had only just gotten off the plane and had not even left the airport when he ran into something like this.
Japan truly deserved its reputation as a land of heroes. Even its crime rate was this high.
Chiffon had spent more than a month back home and had never heard of anyone committing a crime at an airport. Yet the moment he came here, he encountered one.
"Don't kill me. I'll give you all my money, all of it." The greasy middle-aged man on the ground spoke tremblingly, his eyes full of fear.
The man with the enormous arms clearly had a strength-type Quirk, though it could only enlarge his arms and allow them to wield strength beyond that of an ordinary person.
"I did everything exactly as you told me! And what about you? You actually tried to leave this place behind my back. You... are unforgivable!" The man with enhanced arms grew angrier as he spoke, raising his right fist to bring it down.
As a human being, Chiffon normally did not like meddling in other people's affairs. But with the Salvation System forcing his hand, he could not simply ignore it.
At that moment, he secretly gathered his strength and moved closer to the enraged man, intending to take him down in one blow.
Just as Chiffon came within a dozen meters of the man and was about to exert force with his legs, a silver figure flashed past him. With a single kick, the muscular man with huge arms was sent flying.
"Criminal apprehended!" The man in silver armor swept out a hand before extending his right hand toward the man on the ground. "Are you all right?"
"Waaaah... Thank you so much, Ingenium." Tears streamed down the middle-aged man's face as he threw himself onto the man in silver armor.
The muscular man with huge arms had already been restrained by the police. Some people in the airport had gathered around, and when they saw Ingenium, they immediately cheered, "Hero! Ingenium! Hero! Ingenium!"
"It really is Ingenium!" someone in the newly arrived crowd exclaimed.
Ingenium. Real name: Tenya Iida. A renowned Turbo Hero with a large hero agency in Tokyo employing sixty-five people. He was Tenya Iida's older brother.
Chiffon silently recited the information to himself. He had not expected to encounter the Professional Hero Ingenium here. He had to admit, Professional Heroes were incredible. One kick had knocked the muscular man with huge arms unconscious.
Although Chiffon had intended to act earlier, he had not been confident that he could defeat the man in one move. After all, his Thunder God's Arrival Quirk was only LV1. He believed he could knock the man back, but knocking him unconscious in one blow was unlikely.
"Please maintain order and leave this area. We will take the criminal away and bring him to justice," Ingenium said righteously as he dispersed the crowd.
When the crowd had mostly dispersed, Ingenium escorted the criminal into the police car. Before leaving, he glanced at Chiffon, who stood beside a vending machine. He was slightly surprised. Before he had subdued the muscular man with huge arms, he had sensed that this boy seemed ready to act.
But now, the boy appeared utterly ordinary. He could not sense what the other party's Quirk was.
Even if ordinary people had Quirks, they would not meddle in other people's affairs, much less try to stop a criminal. Yet this boy seemed different.
After closing the car door, Ingenium left with the sound of sirens.
Chiffon inserted several coins into the beverage vending machine. With a clatter, a bottle of orange drink with Japanese writing dropped down. He drank as he walked outside.
After leaving the airport, Chiffon could still hear people in the crowd discussing Ingenium. The people here seemed to worship heroes greatly. It was as though as long as a hero appeared, there was nothing that could not be resolved.
The people of this country seemed especially open-minded about such things. They were neither terrified by the violence of crime nor frightened by darkness. In an era where heroes ruled the day, that darkness seemed hardly worth mentioning.
Only Chiffon knew that this world was about to begin changing. Darkness was about to descend.
