Chiffon rented a twenty-square-meter room in Hosu City. After tidying it up, he headed out.
Japan's scenery was incredibly beautiful. It was Chiffon's first time abroad; he had only ever seen the sights here in manga and anime. He had to admit, the real thing was every bit as good as in animation.
There was hardly any trash on the streets, the air was crystal clear, and vehicles moved back and forth in an orderly fashion. The only thing was that people seemed somewhat indifferent, all busy with their own affairs.
No one cared who you were as you walked down the street. Everyone had things they needed to do, rushing about from nine to five.
Chiffon arrived at a ramen shop. Looking at its orange-red decor, he smiled and walked in.
"What'll it be, kid?" the plump chef in a chef's hat asked with a smile, though his hands never stopped moving as he carried out a freshly made bowl of noodles.
"Tsuyu Asui?" Chiffon stared blankly as the chef delivered that freshly made bowl to a girl in the corner—and that girl was Tsuyu Asui.
Chiffon actually liked this cute frog-like girl very much, but it was simply because he liked her personality and who she was.
Only a girl like Yao-yorozu was truly his type. Every now and then, he would imagine Yao-yorozu in his room.
"Were you calling me just now?" Tsuyu Asui seemed to have heard Chiffon's puzzled murmur and turned to look at him.
How was he supposed to explain that? Chiffon had a headache. After all, she did not know him at all. But it was fine. He waved at the owner and said, "A bowl of bullfrog ramen, please."
Before he had even finished speaking, Chiffon felt Tsuyu Asui's cold glare. Oh no, he had completely forgotten about that. He scratched his head and told the plump chef, "Never mind that bowl. Give me beef ramen instead."
Though the plump chef was smiling on the surface, inside he was already cursing. I already put the bullfrog in your damn bowl, and now you're telling me you don't want it?!
But business was business, so the plump chef smiled and went to slice some beef for Chiffon.
Tsuyu Asui watched coldly as Chiffon walked over, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
"Tsuyu-chan, that was my fault just now. Please don't take it to heart," Chiffon said with a grin.
Tsuyu Asui suddenly grew curious. Why did this boy know her? And he even seemed to know about her connection to frogs.
The slight anger she had felt toward him quickly faded. For some reason, she could not bring herself to feel any malice toward this harmless-looking boy. It was as if the moment he smiled, the anger in her heart dispersed.
"Why do you know my name?" Tsuyu Asui asked doubtfully. She had to find out who this boy was.
Chiffon smiled and said, "I go to Hirakawa Junior High. I've heard of you."
"But I don't go to Pingchuan High School," Tsuyu Asui said, her big eyes wide.
"Uh, anyway, I've heard of you," Chiffon said, feeling that this girl was a little too particular.
"Do you know what school I attend?" Tsuyu Asui pressed.
Chiffon really did not know which junior high Tsuyu Asui attended, which put him in an awkward spot. Then he suddenly remembered something and said, "I know that Tsuyu-chan will be a student at U.A. High School in the future!"
Tsuyu Asui's eyes suddenly lit up. With a touch of excitement in her cute voice, she said, "How do you know I'm going to U.A. High School? Are you going too? I don't even know your name yet."
At that moment, the plump chef brought over the beef ramen. "Enjoy, you two."
Chiffon picked up his chopsticks and took two bites. "This is really good." He had to admit that Japanese ramen tasted fantastic. He had originally wanted bullfrog ramen, which probably would have tasted even better, but he could not eat it in front of Tsuyu Asui right now. Maybe next time.
"My name is Chiffon. Like you, I'm in my third year of junior high, and I'm planning to take the U.A. High School entrance exam this summer. If we're lucky, we'll be classmates then," Chiffon said. By luck, he did not mean whether or not he could get into U.A. High School. Getting in was inevitable.
What he meant by luck was whether they would be able to enter the Hero Course together. If not, Class B would be fine. If that did not work either, he could go to another department. Keeping a low profile was never wrong.
Still, Chiffon wanted to be in Hero Class A. Being with a group of classmates like that would surely be fun. It was far better than guarding a rundown Taoist Temple alone in his previous life.
Tsuyu Asui seemed to have already considered Chiffon a friend. She held out her little hand. "Then, Chiffon, let's work hard together and get into U.A. High School."
"Ha ha ha." Chiffon put down his chopsticks and shook Tsuyu Asui's hand. Her little hand was soft and remarkably springy. "Tsuyu-chan, please take care of me."
Tsuyu Asui smiled as well. The people around them found it rather strange. These two junior high students were chatting so happily, even talking about getting into U.A. High School.
Was U.A. High School really that easy to get into? What wishful thinking.
Yet at that moment, a warm current rose in Tsuyu Asui's heart. The handsome boy before her had given her great encouragement, steadying the resolve that had once wavered.
She decided that she would apply to U.A. High School—and she had to enter the Hero Course!
The meal was pleasant. Chiffon paid for Tsuyu-chan's ramen, and Tsuyu-chan pretended to be angry as she said, "Why did you pay for me?"
"Because we're friends," Chiffon said cheerfully, adding, "You can treat me next time, too. It's only fair."
"Thank you, Chiffon," Tsuyu Asui suddenly said.
"You're being too formal, too formal." Chiffon tossed out those words, then turned and left.
"Chiffon-chan, where do you live?" Tsuyu Asui suddenly called out at Chiffon's retreating back.
Chiffon paused. All sorts of thoughts flashed through his mind before he finally said, "See you at U.A. High School!"
In the end, the boy's figure completely vanished into the night.
Tsuyu Asui stood there in a daze for a full minute before breaking into a smile. "All right. See you at U.A. High School."
After returning home, Chiffon patted his chest. "That was close, that was close. I might not have to cultivate in this life, but I still can't start dating before reaching Foundation Establishment. It would be troublesome."
Because before reaching Foundation Establishment, he could not engage in relations between men and women.
But after thinking it over, Chiffon felt there was no need to be so cautious. This world was fundamentally different from his previous one, and the people here all placed great importance on feelings. There were some differences from the world of his past life.
Chiffon decided to face it with a normal mindset. Still, girls like Tsuyu-chan were better left alone. He was afraid he would feel guilty.
At the very least, he had to wait until he reached Foundation Establishment, or until everyone had become adults. That was all years away.
"What am I even thinking?" Chiffon patted his slightly burning cheeks. He could not overthink this.
But at that moment, he was looking forward to U.A. High School more and more. This legendary school that trained heroes, with its energetic students—come quickly!
