Hirakawa Junior High wasn't far from Oritera Junior High. Today was Chiffon's registration day. He had transferred directly into the third year, so in less than ten months, he would be taking the U.A. High School entrance exam.
Following the development of the anime's plot, Midoriya Izuku would soon meet All Might. Chiffon actually longed for All Might's power as well—One For All, one for all. This power was passed down through every generation, and it seemed to grow stronger and stronger.
But Chiffon was content. He had two Quirks that could rival One For All. He didn't want to interfere with Izuku's life. The plot might change, but he still hoped Izuku would obtain One For All.
After all, Izuku was the protagonist of this world. Chiffon didn't want his appearance to alter the world's course. More importantly, all of this was for Chiffon's future cover.
As long as Izuku stood in the spotlight, Chiffon could remain in the shadows. Enemies Izuku couldn't handle, he could handle.
It felt a little like cleaning up someone else's mess, but Chiffon didn't think there was anything wrong with that. Before he had fully grown stronger, he didn't want to be snuffed out.
There was no way to verify how many people the League of Villains had or how powerful they were. Though he only knew about those people on the surface, there might be more.
Third Year, Class 8. This was Chiffon's class. All of his classmates seemed quite friendly, without anyone particularly eager to pick fights. Of course, if someone really came to bother him, he wouldn't mind teaching them a lesson.
The boys and girls in this class were fairly evenly balanced, but Chiffon hadn't found any particularly pretty girls among them. They all seemed to have forgettable faces.
After school, Chiffon said goodbye to his classmates and prepared to head home. He wondered whether he should find a part-time job. After all, there were still ten months before he could attend U.A. High School.
It was indeed necessary. If he kept spending his 160,000 yen on ramen, it definitely wouldn't last very long.
Japan didn't allow international students under eighteen to work part-time jobs, but this world wasn't Japan in the original sense, so Chiffon wanted to give it a try.
But what kind of job should he look for?
He couldn't go to a hero agency yet. He needed a hero license.
Looks like he could only work in the service industry. Once Chiffon made up his mind, he set off. After getting home and putting down his schoolbag, he went to the ramen shop where he had eaten the previous night and ordered a bowl of bullfrog ramen.
Since Tsuyu-chan wasn't here this time, he could properly taste it.
After eating and drinking his fill, Chiffon searched for work near his home. In the end, a convenience store caught his attention. It was only fifty square meters, but its manager was a girl in her twenties.
She had a lively appearance without lacking charm.
Chiffon immediately walked inside. Seeing the beautiful manager, he smiled slightly. "Hello, are you hiring here?"
The girl turned around and saw Chiffon standing there with a smile, speaking politely. Her impression of him immediately improved, and she said with a smile, "We happen to be short one stock clerk. Would you be willing to do it?"
There's a chance! There really wasn't an age restriction.
"Yes, yes." Chiffon blurted it out.
"My name is Inoue Sakura. Please take care of me from now on." When Inoue Sakura smiled, she looked like an angel.
"My name is Chiffon. Please take care of me as well." Chiffon nodded. With this, his daily expenses would be guaranteed. This was his first job since coming to this world.
Inoue Sakura was a university student. Her Quirk was suited for commercial use—after looking at an account book or a customer once, she would never forget them. Unfortunately, U.A. High School, which she had wanted to enroll in back then, had not accepted her.
That didn't hinder Inoue Sakura's hardworking and determined spirit. Though she had been the manager of this shop for a year, she truly loved the store.
Inoue Sakura was only twenty-two this year. Compared to most people her age, she worked much harder, diligently doing her job every day.
At that moment, Inoue Sakura was teaching Chiffon how to arrange snacks and merchandise, along with a few things to watch out for. Chiffon listened carefully, but his gaze occasionally wandered over Inoue Sakura. He had to admit that a girl her age had excellent "physical qualities."
"Ahem." Chiffon's face had reddened from staring, and he instinctively shifted his attention elsewhere.
"Chiffon-kun, what's wrong?" Inoue Sakura noticed something was off about his expression and immediately asked with concern.
"Nothing. My mouth just feels a little dry." Chiffon casually made up an excuse.
Inoue Sakura immediately went to pour him some water. After Chiffon took a few drinks, he felt much better. At least his face was no longer red.
Inoue Sakura rather liked this somewhat adorable Chiffon. The two quickly began chatting, and they happily discussed some work-related matters as well.
As dusk gradually fell, Inoue Sakura stared blankly at Chiffon as he arranged the snacks. She had once had an adorable little brother like him, but after a car accident, they could never see each other again. Even after all these years, she had never been able to forget him.
When she saw Chiffon today, it felt as though her younger brother had returned. That was why she had made an exception and allowed him to work here. Although Japan didn't explicitly forbid students from taking part-time jobs, the owner would definitely be unhappy if he found out she had privately hired Chiffon.
Inoue Sakura even wondered whether she had done something wrong. Should she explain things clearly to Chiffon, or tell him not to come tomorrow?
"Sister Sakura, should this ORIHIRO Konjac Jelly go here?" Chiffon asked, holding a bag of snacks in purple packaging.
"Yes, Chiffon-kun is so smart." Inoue Sakura smiled. At that moment, she made her decision. She would keep Chiffon. No matter what the owner said to her, she wouldn't regret it.
The convenience store had surveillance cameras, so Chiffon couldn't openly use his Air Manipulation Quirk to arrange things. Normally, using Quirks for tasks rather than against people was allowed, but Chiffon needed to keep a low profile in order to hide himself.
Honestly, since he had never done this kind of work in his previous life, he was getting a little tired. A fifty-square-meter convenience store was neither big nor small.
In the first place, Inoue Sakura used to finish all this work by herself every day. Only now did Chiffon notice that her slender hands had calluses.
Seeing those calluses made Chiffon's heart ache. Such a pretty girl had to do work meant for men, holding two positions by herself and working day and night.
Japanese people were actually like this. Sometimes they had no choice. Trapped by the hardships of life, they had to do it, or even more people would come to take their jobs.
"Sister Sakura, I'm heading home first. See you tomorrow night." When it was time to get off work, Chiffon said goodbye to Inoue Sakura. He had basically finished all the work here, so the little that remained was nothing to her.
"Take this and eat it. It's from your sister." Inoue Sakura handed the Glico Biscuits in her hand to Chiffon.
"I can't take this." Chiffon hurriedly refused. Those Glico Biscuits cost quite a few yen. How could he bear to let such a hardworking Inoue Sakura treat him to them?
"If you don't take them, Sister Sakura will get angry." Inoue Sakura puffed out her cheeks, looking incredibly cute.
"Alright, alright, I'll take them." Chiffon accepted the Glico Biscuits and went home. As Inoue Sakura watched his retreating back, a warm current surged through her heart, and a trace of tears threatened to spill from the corners of her eyes.
He looked far too much like Yuu Inoue.
