Inside the rented apartment.
After Chiffon swallowed the Quirk Enhancement Pill, his whole body grew hot, as if he had strength to spare.
"Please choose the Quirk to be enhanced—Thunder God's Arrival—Air Manipulation."
"I choose Thunder God's Arrival."
For Chiffon, open and obvious strength was more important right now. Air Manipulation might be stronger than Thunder God's Arrival in some respects, but it was ultimately a Quirk that could not see the light of day.
Perhaps one day, when his strength rivaled All Might at his peak, he would be able to use it openly.
Thunder God's Arrival—LV2
"Congratulations, Host. Thunder God's Arrival has successfully been upgraded to LV2."
"Current experience: 0/200"
With a wave of Chiffon's right hand, a blue current as thick as a baby's arm shot through a stool. The electricity struck the floor, leaving behind a scorched black patch.
"Not bad." Chiffon nodded in satisfaction, then turned his attention to the Qi Cultivation Pill.
Although he had tried cultivating every day over the past few months, this world revolved around Quirks. Spiritual Energy seemed extremely sparse, and if he relied only on cultivating in his spare time, he probably would not be able to establish his foundation even by the age of thirty.
But now that he had this Qi Cultivation Pill, things were different. Perhaps it could push his cultivation forward ahead of schedule.
After swallowing the Qi Cultivation Pill, Chiffon felt the Spiritual Energy in the air grow much denser. He could also sense a considerable amount of spiritual power within his body.
He immediately sat cross-legged and began absorbing the Spiritual Energy of heaven and earth, strengthening himself.
Chiffon did not know how long he cultivated. He only opened his eyes when he heard someone knocking at the door, and by then, night had fallen.
"Sister Sakura, why did you come today?" Chiffon had not expected Inoue Sakura to come looking for him.
"Little Chiffon, look what time it is. I haven't seen you come downstairs all day. You haven't eaten yet, have you?" Inoue Sakura looked worried. Wearing a floral long dress and carrying a basket in her hand, she stared straight at Chiffon.
Chiffon turned to look at the clock hanging on the wall and realized it was already ten at night. Fujiwara Convenience Store, where Inoue Sakura worked, had already closed.
Fujiwara Convenience Store was less than a hundred meters downstairs from Chiffon's home. Whenever he went downstairs, he could usually see Inoue Sakura inside the store. No wonder she had come to his place today.
Inoue Sakura had probably noticed that Chiffon had not gone out since returning home, nor had she seen any delivery rider go upstairs. Naturally, that meant he had not eaten.
Besides, the Sludge Incident had happened today. It was easy for Inoue Sakura to imagine how Chiffon must have felt. Someone Chiffon's age had experienced too little, while society today was so murky.
Inoue Sakura thought that the Sludge Incident had dealt Chiffon quite a blow, causing the boy to shut himself away.
Staying at home did not necessarily mean one was safe. Everything had to be viewed from different angles. If someone kept going around in circles, they would never find their way out.
"Sister Sakura, sit down first. I'll get you a glass of water." Chiffon scratched his head and closed the door. Inoue Sakura looked at the pitch-dark room and the single glowing computer, and she could not help thinking of some unpleasant possibilities.
"Little Chiffon, are you all right?" Inoue Sakura asked worriedly after sitting down.
Chiffon switched on the lights and casually said, "I'm fine."
Inoue Sakura wanted to ask more, but suddenly noticed a blackened mark on the floor. "Little Chiffon, tell Sister Sakura. Did you do something foolish? Why is there a black patch on the floor?"
Chiffon felt rather awkward. How was he supposed to explain this? He had told Inoue Sakura that he had awakened a speed Quirk, claiming that his hundred-meter sprint was several seconds faster than an ordinary person's.
"It's nothing, Sister Sakura. Stop asking. You're already tired enough from running the convenience store every day, and now you're worrying about me too." Chiffon sighed. "Go home and get some sleep early. I'll be at work as usual tomorrow."
Inoue Sakura stared at Chiffon for a full minute. Just as his skin began to crawl, she said, "Then eat this bento. Once you finish it, I'll go home."
After opening the basket, Chiffon found that it contained a heart-shaped bento. Inoue Sakura really was still a girl at heart. This kind of bento looked like something girls would enjoy eating.
Inoue Sakura blushed a little. Back then, her younger brother, Yuu Inoue, had loved the bentos she made most, especially ones shaped like this.
But he could no longer eat them now, so Inoue Sakura placed that wish on Chiffon instead. She saw the shadow of her younger brother, Yuu Inoue, in Chiffon, which was why she cared for him so deeply and treasured this time so much.
Seeing how happily Chiffon ate, Inoue Sakura smiled in contentment.
"Sister Sakura, you look really pretty when you smile." Chiffon suddenly said this, and a piece of meat fell from his mouth, making him look rather comical.
Inoue Sakura covered her mouth and laughed for a while. "If you like it, Sister Sakura will make it for you every day."
This gave Chiffon a headache. What was this, having a young girl cook for him every day? His actual age was far greater than Inoue Sakura's, though he did indeed look like a child now.
After seeing Inoue Sakura off, Chiffon leaned against the sofa and examined the spiritual power within himself. To his surprise, he had already reached Qi Cultivation Layer One.
By his original estimate, reaching Qi Cultivation Layer One would have taken at least a year, or half a year at the very fastest.
But after eating one Qi Cultivation Pill, the process had been shortened by seven or eight months. It was utterly ridiculous.
If he could get a few more Qi Cultivation Pills and break through to Qi Cultivation Layer Four, the middle stage of Qi Cultivation, his strength would already rival that of some agency bosses.
At Qi Cultivation Layer Four, he could use Wind Blade, Fireball Technique, Waterball Technique, Lightness Skill, and more. These would give him greater assurance in actual combat.
"Come to think of it, Izuku is about to begin his hellish training in a few days, isn't he?" Chiffon said meaningfully. Compared to Izuku, he was much luckier, but he also bore greater responsibility.
One For All meant one for all, but wasn't Chiffon the same? This Salvation System was the finest embodiment of one for all.
If he saved the people, all of their glorious achievements would be added to him, forming a unique radiance of character. This held even greater significance than All Might, the Symbol of Peace.
Chiffon felt that he might have to shoulder some heavy responsibilities in the future.
Then Izuku would naturally become the right-hand man of the one who bore those responsibilities. As for people like Bakugo Katsuki, Shoto Todoroki, and Fumikage Tokoyami, he naturally had to take better care of them too. They were all good classmates, after all.
The more Chiffon thought about it, the happier he became. Drool trickled from the corner of his mouth as he fell asleep.
The moonlight outside was like frost. No one knew that at this moment, on the rooftop above Chiffon's home, a man with blades tucked all around his waist stood beneath the moonlight, gazing at the city. Red silk fluttered in the wind, and the smell of blood vanished as a blade slid back into its sheath. On the ground lay a pale, bloodless man.
"Everything is... for the sake of a proper society."
