Triathlon
A Zheng continued explaining his extraordinary ability.
"My extraordinary ability is [Triathlon]. After I awakened it, my endurance became exceptional. At the very beginning of the apocalypse, I even went through three days with nothing but a single bowl of wontons.
"I can also keep up high-intensity aerobic exercise for a long time while eating very little. Take the trek we just finished, for example. It lasted more than twenty hours, but I think I could keep going for three days on one biscuit and a sip of water a day."
Chen Fan hissed, drawing in a sharp breath.
This extraordinary ability was actually so terrifying. It allowed its user to survive the apocalypse on very few supplies.
It was extremely well suited to surviving the apocalypse.
But on closer thought, it also seemed rather useless.
Chen Fan asked, "Um... is that all?"
A Zheng said awkwardly, "Yes, that's all there is to it. Even so, this extraordinary ability still comes with a cost. Mine is an extreme craving for sweets."
At that, A Zheng grew a little wistful.
"Before the apocalypse, I was a long-distance runner. If I'd awakened this ability back then, I'd have been so happy I'd have thanked my lucky stars. But now..."
A Zheng smiled bitterly. "What use is surviving in this apocalypse?"
Chen Fan couldn't help nodding. A Zheng's ability really was...
He had wanted to offer a few words of praise, but he couldn't think of anything to say.
This wasn't an apocalypse defined by a simple shortage of supplies. The apocalypse brought on by the global fog was full of monsters and fraught with danger.
Simply consuming little and lasting a long time did indeed seem to be of little use in this apocalypse.
Even Chen Fan felt a little awkward. He had egged A Zheng on, asking him to explain, only for it to blow up in his face.
After thinking it over, Chen Fan could only pat A Zheng on the shoulder and force out, "It's okay. You're already stronger than a lot of people. At least awakening an extraordinary ability strengthens your body."
A Zheng smiled helplessly.
While the two were talking, Nie Shufeng and the others had all been called over, including the extraordinary ability users on Chen Fan's team.
Together, they surrounded the few remaining walkers.
Nie Shufeng looked stern. "Whoever it is, taking shelter with the convoy while deliberately concealing an extraordinary ability is a very unfriendly thing to do. After all, no one knows whether that person has ulterior motives."
Chen Fan was surprised to see so many people come over.
He even felt a little embarrassed. A Zheng's awakened ability was already so weak, and they were still coming over to bully him.
"Hey, Brother Shu, there's no need for all this. What has A Zheng done to deserve you making such a fuss..."
A Zheng had been starting to panic, but hearing Chen Fan say that, he could only smile bitterly.
At that moment, however, Nie Shufeng turned his gaze to Huishi, who was standing to the side, calmly watching the show.
"Wouldn't you agree, Master Huishi?"
Chen Fan froze and turned to look as well. So Huishi was their target?
Chen Fan's gaze immediately sharpened.
Ever since awakening telekinesis, his mental power had grown stronger and stronger. Now that he sensed carefully, he found that there was indeed something off about Huishi in every way.
That wouldn't do. He was the one who had invited Huishi to join them.
If something went wrong with Huishi, wouldn't that be a slap in his face?
Beside him, A Zheng silently walked into the crowd.
He decided it would be better to keep his head down from now on.
He would never reveal his extraordinary ability again.
In a dark room, Wang Bing could dimly be seen sitting cross-legged in the middle of the room.
A crystal ball sat in front of her.
She suddenly spat a mouthful of blood onto it.
Huishi's figure flickered in and out of view within the blood-soaked crystal ball.
Wang Bing's chilling voice rang out in the room.
"I'm a second-tier extraordinary ability user now. Even if you're stronger than me, there's no way you'll take this attack lightly..."
"Are you talking about this humble monk?"
Facing everyone's gazes, Huishi remained calm, even showing a faint, serene smile.
Nie Shufeng's voice had turned cold.
It was the first time Chen Fan had seen Nie Shufeng like this.
Nie Shufeng said, "I saw you appear beside Wang Bing's vehicle with my own eyes, and she disappeared immediately afterward. Then you came back to the survivors as if nothing had happened. Speak! Where did you take Wang Bing?"
By this point, a hint of killing intent had entered Chen Fan's eyes.
At some point, the Spirit Refining Sword had appeared beside him, slowly revolving.
A trace of surprise entered Huishi's voice. "Benefactor Nie actually saw that? And here I thought I'd checked that no one else was around. It seems one really mustn't underestimate the world's extraordinary ability users..."
Zheng Alin suddenly drew the Crimson Flame Sword. Its blade, wreathed in flickers of fire, stopped less than a centimeter from Huishi's neck.
Zheng Alin's eyes gleamed with malice. "We asked where you took my Bingbing. Are you deaf?"
The corners of Huishi's mouth curled up slightly as he raised a finger to the tip of Zheng Alin's sword.
"Please be patient, benefactor. I simply saw that Benefactor Wang Bing was far too weary, so I delivered her to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. There, she won't have so many worries and troubles to make her anxious. I'm sure she'll be very happy there.
"Of course, if you benefactors miss her, I can send you to reunite with her as well."
The moment he finished speaking, a black speck abruptly appeared between the tip of Zheng Alin's Crimson Flame Sword and Huishi's fingertip.
The speck swelled instantly, expanding too quickly for anyone to react.
In the blink of an eye, a massive boulder ten meters across appeared among them.
Zheng Alin was sent flying, while Huishi drifted backward.
As the boulder expanded into existence, he used the opportunity to leap clear of the encirclement.
Still smiling, Huishi waved a hand.
The long strand of prayer beads around his neck floated forward. Dozens of beads hung in the air, then abruptly snapped their cord and shot toward Chen Fan, Nie Shufeng, and every extraordinary ability user present.
When they reached Chen Fan and the others, they suddenly grew enormous.
The prayer beads, originally only the size of ping-pong balls, became ten-meter spheres in an instant.
A moment later, they crashed to the ground.
Rumble-
A continuous series of booms rang out as the massive spheres struck the ground.
Then the spheres rose from the ground under Huishi's control.
Deep, hemispherical craters were left in the ground.
A few traces of blood could dimly be seen in some of the craters.
Fortunately, there were no flattened human figures in them.
Chen Fan stood on the Nightmare Battle Cloud, the Spirit Refining Sword darting around him like a nimble serpent.
He looked gravely at Huishi.
At the same time, the ground trembled.
Nie Shufeng, transformed into a five-meter-tall giant, walked beneath Chen Fan.
"He's a third-tier extraordinary ability user."
Nie Shufeng's rumbling voice was grave.
Li Yuanyuan assumed the opening stance of a palm technique, eyes blazing with fighting spirit. "Third tier? Just what I wanted. Only by daring to challenge the strong can one become truly strong."
Zheng Alin held crimson flame in her left hand and frost in her right, her gaze icy.
"Whoever you are, you'd better pray Sister Bing is still alive. Otherwise, I'll cut you down, third tier or not!"
Wu Zhiyou slammed his two black panda paws together and shouted angrily, "You're fighting so many of us alone. You're dead!"
Yang Xiaomei, meanwhile, rode the cat bus and leaped into the distance.
A pair of emerald-green cat eyes watched quietly from afar.
Shen Li and Ma Wuyuan, looking somewhat disheveled, had retreated even farther away.
Huishi's attack just now had been so astonishing that they were filled with dread.
They felt they simply couldn't take part in a battle on this level.
