It was a double-sided mirror with an ancient, unadorned design.

The front had a golden frame, while the back had a dark one.

Both frames were engraved with ancient, imposing patterns.

The front surface was silvery white and looked crystal clear, but unless its user activated it, the clear mirror reflected nothing.

The back surface was pitch-black, with a deep, dark vortex spinning ceaselessly within it, as though it could draw a person's gaze right in.

Unlike the front, which merely reflected nothing, the back looked far more sinister.

This was the Yin-Yang Twin Mirrors, the result of the second refinement.

Through his control over his supernatural power, Chen Fan had already figured out what the artifact could do.

First was the Yang Mirror on the front. Its surface could pierce illusions. A flash of golden light from it would reveal the true face of any illusory realm.

It could also be activated from afar, allowing its user to peer through illusions and see what lay beyond them in the distance.

This ability could likewise be used to observe distant places.

It also possessed a formidable offensive ability.

It could fire a ray of pure yang, the utmost yang and the utmost force. It could easily melt metal and rock, and was exceptionally effective at exterminating yin entities and evil spirits.

Next was the Yin Mirror on the back.

Chen Fan activated the Yin Mirror and tried it out for himself.

Billowing black qi poured out of the endlessly spinning dark vortex in its surface.

The black qi gradually formed a cloud.

Chen Fan sat down cross-legged on it.

The Yin-Yang Twin Mirrors had perfectly retained the Nightmare Battle Cloud's abilities after the second refinement.

The Nightmare Battle Cloud had even gained some improvements.

Its original defensive ability, for example, had grown stronger.

The Nightmare Battle Cloud's cloud qi was tougher and could ward off stronger attacks.

Its concealment had improved as well. Once the cloud qi spread out, some remote observation abilities would simply fail, unable to see anything.

Besides that, the Yin Mirror had another defensive ability.

Its endlessly spinning dark vortex could devour mental attacks.

These included, but were not limited to, mental probing and mental damage.

If some powerful ability could still break through the Nightmare Battle Cloud's defenses after it had concealed everything, it would not escape the Yin Mirror's devouring power.

For now, however, the dark vortex in the Yin Mirror could only devour mental attacks.

That was still a limitation.

Besides forming the Nightmare Battle Cloud, the black qi spewed out by the Yin Mirror could also become Breath of Nightmares.

It retained the ability to manipulate nightmares and could kill people in their dreams.

The Breath of Nightmares had also been strengthened this time. It no longer needed to be stacked seven times or anything like that.

Once the Breath of Nightmares entered an enemy's body and they fell into a nightmare, Chen Fan could directly manipulate the dream and curse them to death.

Of course, that still depended on the difference in their strength.

The Breath of Nightmares had also gained the sensory ability Chen Fan had always wanted.

It was a type of perception geared toward foresight.

Whenever Chen Fan was going to encounter danger in the near future, he would dream of clues in his sleep.

The impending crisis would play out in his mind in the form of a nightmare.

Chen Fan silently reminded himself to pay more attention to his nightmares from now on.

He had rarely dreamed to begin with, and after becoming supernatural, his mind had grown even clearer. He had never dreamed again.

Perhaps it had something to do with his mental power growing stronger.

Now his dreams had a new use.

From now on, he had his own way to sense potential danger.

He no longer had to rely entirely on others.

Chen Fan was quite satisfied with the second refinement of the Yin-Yang Twin Mirrors.

It had numerous functions, combining offense and defense.

It had everything he wanted.

Chen Fan withdrew the Yin-Yang Twin Mirrors into his body and looked inward at his sea of consciousness. He found that, aside from the Artifact Refining Furnace that had accompanied his supernatural power, he now had nine artifacts within him.

He had a feeling that the limit at the second supernatural tier was ten artifacts.

Once he had refined all ten, he would have to wait until his supernatural power rose to the third tier.

Besides that, Chen Fan realized that only two of his nine artifacts were mid-grade.

That gave him a sense of urgency.

He still had to hurry and acquire enough Origin Material. At the very least, he needed to upgrade his offensive artifacts to mid-grade.

As he was thinking about it, a commotion arose outside the RV.

Chen Fan went to the window and pulled back the curtain to look outside.

Across from him, the red-yellow-green convoy had split into two groups.

Yellow Hair, Red Hair, and Green Hair were leading the larger group of survivors.

The katana man and the man with sunglasses on his head were leading a smaller group, and the two sides were facing off.

They seemed to be arguing about something, though their voices weren't very loud. They appeared to be holding back.

Quite a few survivors from the alliance had also gathered around to watch, and discussions broke out one after another.

Amid the din, he couldn't make out what the two groups from the red-yellow-green convoy were actually talking about.

Chen Fan watched for a moment, then paid them no further attention. He wasn't very interested in another convoy's affairs.

That lasted until Nie Shufeng's voice came over the walkie-talkie.

"Chen Fan, the convoy is getting ready to leave. But before we set out, there's something else. You need to come over."

Chen Fan was puzzled. What was so important that he had to show up in person?

But since Nie Shufeng had said so, he got out of the RV.

As soon as he stepped outside, he saw Yellow Hair and the other two waiting there with nearly four hundred survivors.

The katana man and the man with sunglasses on his head had gone who knew where.

Chen Fan looked at Nie Shufeng, who was standing to the side, and waited for him to speak.

Nie Shufeng explained, "Han Tai wants to bring his convoy into our Dawn Alliance. I called you over to discuss it."

Chen Fan understood, though he found it a little strange.

They had told Han Tai about their alliance when they exchanged supplies earlier, but Han Tai hadn't seemed very interested then.

Why did he suddenly want to join?

Chen Fan thought for a moment and said, "A few questions. Weren't you planning some kind of 'turn-the-tables' operation? And where are the other two supernatural beings from your group? Why do you want to join our Dawn Alliance?"

Han Tai showed no impatience at Chen Fan's questions. Instead, he answered earnestly, "Our group had a disagreement over the turn-the-tables plan. I was in favor of abandoning it and joining your Dawn Alliance.

"Yang Fan and Zhu Hongshan insisted on carrying it out. In the end, things turned out as you see them now. Look back and you'll understand."

Chen Fan looked back and saw a small group of people heading away at the end of the road.

He was inwardly surprised. Their group had actually split up.

Han Tai continued, "As for why I want to join the Dawn Alliance, it's because I think your ideals are good. I'm also optimistic about this kind of alliance.

"Each convoy can keep its original structure, and by joining forces, our overall strength will increase. We'll have a better chance of surviving in the apocalypse."

Chen Fan nodded. "A very sincere answer. One last question: what do you think of ordinary survivors? I want to hear what you truly think, not something nice-sounding but false that you say on purpose."

Han Tai fell silent for a moment, then said, "Ordinary survivors deserve to live too..."

He struggled for words and scratched his yellow hair, his tone growing a little impatient. "I don't know how to put the lofty principles into words. Supernatural beings definitely have a higher status than survivors, but if it's possible, I don't want to see people die for no reason either..."

Chen Fan looked as though he understood and turned to Nie Shufeng. "I have no objections. What about you?"

Nie Shufeng said, "I already spoke with Han Tai. I agree to letting him join."

Chen Fan smiled and held out his right hand.

"Welcome to the Dawn Alliance."

Han Tai smiled as well and reached out to shake Chen Fan's hand.

"Thank you."

Nie Shufeng stepped forward and placed his hand over theirs.

He glanced at the two men on either side.

"May we find that glimmer of dawn in this apocalypse."

Chen Fan and Han Tai looked at each other and said in unison,

"May we find a glimmer of dawn in this apocalypse!"
