Do You Still Want to Eat Dragon Meat?
"Go ask the employees downstairs whether Ruanruan has caused them any trouble."
The assistant went downstairs to ask what had happened. Before long, he came back up and said, "Nothing serious happened. She just accidentally knocked over a cup of coffee, and it spilled on a laptop. I've already told him to apply for a new laptop from administration. It's fine."
After asking about it, Lu Linyuan glanced at Ruanruan, who had her head down drinking water, and sent the assistant out.
Breaking a laptop was a small matter, as long as no one had been hurt.
He had originally wanted to teach the little one a lesson, but on second thought, she was just a cat. How could he teach her? Could she understand what he said?
In the end, he said nothing and let her off lightly.
She was still little. Maybe she would get better when she was a bit older, he thought.
Ruanruan had also thought the young master would scold her once he learned what had happened. To her surprise, he said nothing and even rubbed her head.
She was quite touched. The young master was so nice.
"Meow~" Ruanruan looked at him and rubbed her head against him hard, showing how clingy she was.
"You clever little rascal." He had never thought of keeping a cat before, and had even thought it would be a lot of trouble.
Now he seemed to be getting a little enjoyment out of it. In particular, the sense of accomplishment when a kitten who had resisted you at first became especially clingy was probably something only cat owners could understand.
He had gone soft and spared her a beating for doing something bad, but he still had to confine her for a few days to make a proper punishment of it.
As punishment, Ruanruan was made to stay and play in Lu Linyuan's office whenever she was brought to the company for the next few days. The office was large and even had a rest room inside.
Cat toys were scattered around the office and the rest room, and she could move freely between them.
He had thought there was no way the little one would stay put, and that she might start making a fuss to go out before long. But the little one seemed to understand when he said he was going to confine her and played contentedly in the office. Sometimes, when she wasn't in front of him, he would finish his work and go looking for her in the rest room, only to find that she had jumped onto the bed and curled up fast asleep.
She was more at ease than anyone.
He had said he would confine her for five days, but after three, he went soft and let her out to play.
"Forget it. You look listless here with me. Go out and wander around, but don't cause trouble."
This time, Ruanruan didn't go looking for trouble with Qiao Yi, because she had discovered that by making trouble for him, she had instead gotten him a new computer. The draft on the old computer was still there too, because it had been automatically saved to the cloud.
After learning that, Ruanruan changed her approach.
Since Qiao Yi liked her, a little kitten, so much and wanted to use her to show his face in front of the president, she wouldn't give him the chance!
So Qiao Yi, who was eager to get close to the kitten, discovered that no matter what treats he pulled from his pockets, Ruanruan remained unmoved and instead mingled with the other people in the office.
She was especially affectionate with the girls dressed like flowers in full bloom, rolling around and rubbing her face against them.
The office rang with laughter and endless meows, while the dried fish and freeze-dried treats in Qiao Yi's hand were reduced to mere decorations.
Were these things not good enough? Did she not like them?
Qiao Yi thought about it but didn't lose heart. He figured the president must give her only the very best food, and what he had bought wasn't expensive enough. The kitten had developed a picky palate, so she wouldn't eat it.
So he gritted his teeth and ordered expensive cat treats imported from abroad, full of ambition to win Ruanruan over with them.
"Here, kitty, have some of this. This is good stuff. One bag costs several thousand, and there are only a few packets in it. They're all yours-" Taking advantage of the moment when Ruanruan was lying alone on a sofa in the rest area, Qiao Yi took out some freeze-dried salmon and offered it to her.
Ruanruan rolled her eyes and nimbly ran away.
As if I'd eat your stuff!
Let it rot at home!
To keep Qiao Yi from taking his anger out on the girls, Ruanruan spread her affection evenly, cuddling up to everyone from the female managers to the female employees, but paying no attention to Qiao Yi.
After running into a wall several times in a row, Qiao Yi was so angry he nearly ground his teeth to pieces. He grew even angrier when he thought about how she had shown nothing but disdain for the cat treats he had spent so much money on.
"A beast is a beast. You really think you're something, don't you? You won't even eat this. What, do you still want to eat dragon meat from the heavens?"
