This Really Wasn't a Dream
Ruanruan had only run over to the side to keep Qiao Yi from getting close, so she heard every single word he said.
"Meow-" What a nasty way to talk!
You damn pervert!
If I weren't so young, I'd really want to go over and give you a few swipes.
When Qiao Yi saw Ruanruan baring her teeth at him, he folded his arms and said dismissively, "What, you want to bite me?" He looked as though he couldn't wait for Ruanruan to bite him, so he could use the chance to show his face in front of the CEO again, find a chance to talk to him, and get promoted. There were all sorts of benefits, anyway.
Animals couldn't talk, and outsiders would only think the cat wasn't gentle at all. Who would ever know the truth?
Ruanruan wasn't about to fall for his trick. Knocking over the coffee last time had made Qiao Yi furious, but afterward, not only had he gotten a new computer, he'd also found a backup of his manuscript in cloud storage. He hadn't lost a thing.
Because of how disgusting Qiao Yi was, Ruanruan had been a little listless these past few days.
It wasn't until they got home and Lu Linyuan brought her a gift that her mood shot straight up!
It was a jade collar!
For fear that it would be too heavy and weigh on her neck, the jade hadn't been made too substantial. It had been deliberately carved thin and decorated with patterns of blooming lotus flowers and seed pods. Besides the jade inlaid in the collar, the leather was also of the finest quality. Even the buckle looked golden and gleaming. Looking at it, Ruanruan couldn't help suspecting that the buckle wasn't made of ordinary metal. In any case, it looked extremely expensive, with an understated charm and elegance beneath its simplicity.
Oh my god, this is the pinnacle of cat life! Everything I never got to enjoy as a human, I've experienced since becoming a cat.
I live in a huge villa in the city center, and everything I eat and drink every day is the most expensive and the best. Now I've even got a jade collar.
Is this really not a dream?
Even among cats, this is a life of top-tier luxury.
Sure enough, with something as expensive and beautiful as jade to hold the fort, Ruanruan suddenly felt that Qiao Yi wasn't all that annoying anymore.
When you're enjoying yourself this much, having someone obnoxious around to torment you eases the guilt and makes all this unreality feel real.
After Lu Linyuan put it on Ruanruan, he hadn't even had a chance to get a good look before the little one jumped out of his arms. With her tail raised and her head held high, she went to the full-length mirror in the dressing room, turning left and looking right as though she couldn't get enough of the sight.
"You seem to know how beautiful you are." Lu Linyuan, who had followed her over, watched with amusement.
Hearing that, Ruanruan looked back at him and grinned like a little goofball.
Although Grandma had given her the jade, she had also benefited from the Lu siblings' favor, so there was a hint of affection in her eyes as she looked at the young master.
"Meow~" Even her voice was soft and sweet.
"Tsk, even your voice has changed. Most cats aren't very comfortable wearing collars at first. How come you look so appreciative and pleased, like you know how expensive and valuable this is?"
Ruanruan thought to herself that the young master was remarkably perceptive to have guessed even that. She lowered her eyes, stopped looking in the mirror, and hurried to his feet to curry favor, rubbing against him and raising her paws to be picked up.
Lu Linyuan bent down and scooped her up. "You've been asking to be held a bit more often lately," he said, though inwardly he couldn't have been more pleased.
After all, the little kitten hadn't seemed to like him much before. She'd been much more affectionate with Yiyi than with him.
"Meow~" Ruanruan deliberately made her meow very sweet, acting every bit the little suck-up.
What she was really thinking was, Young master, quit pretending. Aren't you happy when I act like this?
Ruanruan rolled over, belly up and all four paws in the air, and looked at Lu Linyuan. She whined and licked the corners of her mouth, making her meaning perfectly clear.
Isn't it time you served me some top-quality goat milk?!
The little one is hungry and wants food. Hurry up.
"I was just about to say you'd become much more ladylike lately, and now here you are acting like a rough-and-tumble fellow." Lu Linyuan spoke disdainfully as he headed to the cat room and set Ruanruan on the food-preparation counter. He opened the refrigerator, which held fresh goat milk, all kinds of freeze-dried food, canned food, and meat. In any case, it had everything she ate, drank, and used. The temperature wasn't too low, but it kept everything fresh. The wide assortment was replenished every two or three days, so the taste was guaranteed to be fresh and pure.
"What meat do you want today? Salmon?"
"Meow!" Ruanruan's cry was firm.
As soon as Lu Linyuan heard it, he knew that was what she wanted.
He took out the salmon, opened the package, and carefully diced it. The fresh meat was laid out on a plate, and once he was done, he pushed it in front of Ruanruan.
Ruanruan lowered her head and sniffed. It smells so good!
Seeing Ruanruan eating the salmon, he also took out goat milk and cat food, along with fish oil and other nutrients. Although meat was delicious and cats loved it, adding a suitable amount of various trace elements was also good for her body and fur.
These were all things he'd learned only after getting a cat.
Ruanruan was growing a little faster than other cats her age. Not only did her plump little body feel unbeatable to the touch, but her fur was fluffy and smooth, she had no eye discharge or dirt in her ears, and her teeth were pearly white. She was an absolutely clean, dainty little kitten from the inside out.
"Meow-" This is delicious!
Ruanruan lapped up some milk after every couple of bites, her eyes narrowing happily as her tail wagged back and forth like a puppy's.
