With their trip to the Imperial Capital coming up in a couple of days, gifts for the elders were a must, so Su Wanqing asked Lin Yi, "Honey, what do your mom, dad, and grandpa like?"

"As long as you bought it, they'll like it."

"Oh."

Su Wanqing nodded, all the while planning what gifts to buy.

After thinking for a moment, she said, "Honey, how about we go shopping for gifts?"

"Sure. If you get tired, tell me before it gets too much."

"Mm."

Su Wanqing agreed with a smile. Every girl liked shopping, and she was no exception.

She could even shop from dawn till dusk without feeling tired. Perhaps it was a skill unique to girls.

Twenty minutes later, Lin Yi brought the group to a nearby department store, which had everything one could possibly want.

Tangtang could hardly tear her eyes away from the dazzling array of goods.

She babbled, seemingly wanting to take everything she saw home.

Compared to Tangtang, Yuanyuan was much quieter. The little guy kept looking around.

Although Lin Yi had said the elders would like whatever gifts she bought, Su Wanqing still didn't know what to get.

Looking at the enormous mall, she didn't know which store to go into.

Seeing his wife frowning, Lin Yi figured it was because of the gifts. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Honey, how about getting my dad a fountain pen?"

"Get my mom a silk scarf."

"As for Grandpa, get him some clothes."

Just as they were leaving, Lin Yi had seen Su Wanqing quietly take a bank card out of her wallet.

He knew his wife wanted to pay for the gifts for his family herself, so he had chosen some good, inexpensive items.

Su Wanqing, who had been struggling to decide, suddenly saw the light when she heard Lin Yi's suggestions. She pulled him toward the fountain pen store across from them.

Zhang Meilan followed behind, pushing the stroller.

After entering the store, Su Wanqing walked around before her gaze finally settled on a black fountain pen.

She smiled at the sales assistant. "Could you take this pen out so I can have a look?"

"Of course, ma'am."

As the sales assistant took out the pen, she explained, "This model has a copper barrel and a gold-plated nib. It has a substantial feel in the hand."

"Ma'am, you can try it out."

"Mm-hmm."

Su Wanqing nodded, then wrote and drew on a piece of paper. The ink flowed freely and the pen wrote smoothly. She was very pleased.

Then she asked, "How much is this pen?"

"238 yuan."

Su Wanqing had braced herself, expecting the pen to be expensive, but her jaw dropped when she heard the price.

Such a nice pen was only 238 yuan. It was far too cheap.

Without hesitation, she made the purchase. "Please wrap it up for me."

The sales assistant smiled in acknowledgment, her eyes full of envy as she looked at Su Wanqing.

Little did Su Wanqing know that the pen was so cheap because Lin Yi and the sales assistant had already arranged it.

While browsing the store, Lin Yi had told the sales assistant to sell Su Wanqing whichever pen she chose at a ninety percent discount, and he would make up the difference.

Figuring she wouldn't lose any money, the sales assistant readily agreed.

Before long, the sales assistant had packed the pen in a gift box.

After leaving the store, Su Wanqing showed Lin Yi the gift box in her hand, looking as happy as if she had scored a huge bargain.

"Honey~, this pen was so cheap, and the gift box the store gave us is beautiful too."

"And they even threw in a bottle of ink!"

"Mm, good quality at a low price."

Lin Yi nodded with a smile. Seeing that Su Wanqing hadn't noticed anything amiss, he was relieved.

Next, they went to a silk scarf store and a clothing store. By the time they came out, Lin Yi's hands were full of shopping bags.

As they passed a corner, Tangtang, sitting in the stroller, was immediately captivated by the various toys hanging on the glass.

As they moved farther and farther away, the little one anxiously burst into tears.

"Waaah-waaah-"

Hearing her cry, Su Wanqing hurriedly picked Tangtang up from the stroller and gently soothed her. "Be good, Tangtang. Don't cry, don't cry."

Once in Su Wanqing's arms, the little one's tear-filled eyes remained fixed on the doll shop around the corner.

"Mmm~"

"Eh~"

"Wah~"

She waved her little hands and wriggled in Su Wanqing's arms, seemingly trying to grab the dolls off the glass.

Seeing Tangtang squirming, Su Wanqing pretended to be angry. "Tangtang, don't wriggle. Let's go home, okay?"

"Waaah-waaah-"

To her surprise, Tangtang burst into tears the moment she heard they were going home, little tears falling one after another.

The little one seemed to know she wouldn't be able to see the dolls once they went home and grew upset. She was also trying to stop Su Wanqing from leaving.

Seeing Tangtang crying so pitifully, Su Wanqing didn't know what was wrong with her baby and could only do her best to soothe her.

"Honey~ what's wrong with Tangtang? Why does she keep crying?"

"Hmm, could it be that the little one doesn't want to go home?"

Lin Yi voiced his question. Tangtang seemed to see a glimmer of hope and gave a little nod.

Then Tangtang caught Lin Yi's attention and stretched out a little finger to point at the doll shop.

Seeing what the little one was doing, Lin Yi didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "Tangtang saw the dolls and doesn't want to leave."

Only then did Su Wanqing notice that Tangtang's chubby little hand had been pointing the way all along, and she laughed.

"Tangtang, so you want a doll."

"Mmm~"

"Ah~"

The little one babbled, her face immediately lighting up with joy.

Seeing that her darling daughter liked them, and that they didn't have many toys at home, Su Wanqing carried Tangtang into the doll shop.

The store had all kinds of dolls, mostly anime characters, as well as some little animals.

Tangtang was like Granny Liu visiting the Grand View Garden, curious about everything she saw.

"Oh~"

"Hey~"

The little one touched the fluffy animals with her chubby little hands. She couldn't have been happier.

But Tangtang was a baby with principles. She only liked the cute ones; she didn't like ones like Spider-Man.

While Tangtang picked out fluffy toys, Yuanyuan watched curiously from the stroller. He wanted to get out and have a look too.

"Whoosh~"

"Thump~"

"Wah~"

Seeing that Yuanyuan felt a little left out because Tangtang was picking out toys, Lin Yi picked him up and asked patiently, "What little animals do you like, Yuanyuan?"

"Daddy will take you to have a look."

Yuanyuan nodded his little head, seemingly in agreement.

Compared to Tangtang, Yuanyuan didn't like fluffy little animals. He preferred excavators, tanks, and planes.

Looking at the toys the brother and sister had chosen, Lin Yi was relieved. At least the two wouldn't fight over toys.

Before long, both siblings' little baskets were full of toys, and the two were finally satisfied.

After paying, Lin Yi and Su Wanqing came out carrying bags of toys large and small. Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, they asked the two, "Tangtang, Yuanyuan, shall we go home?"

"Wah~"

"Ah~"

Tangtang and Yuanyuan happily agreed. Now that the toys had been bought, the two little ones couldn't wait to get home.

That way, they could play with their toys sooner.
