Heading Off to Learn Martial Arts
Three in the morning.
Outside Luofu District Fifth People's Hospital.
Su Han walked out of the emergency hall, his expression grim.
This was the eighth hospital he had visited that night, and he had still found nothing.
Over the course of the night, he had visited all eight major hospitals in Luohu District qualified to provide emergency care. At each one, he had used various means to sneak into the ICU ward and check the patient list.
But.
Not a single hospital had his sister's name on its list.
His sister had vanished as if she had evaporated into thin air. There was no record of her admission, nor any information about her treatment.
He had not even.
Heard of a single hospital that had admitted a critically injured patient with multiple fractures and ruptured internal organs five days ago.
That wasn't normal.
It was impossible for a critically injured patient like that to leave no information behind.
Zhang Ping had clearly said his sister was lying in the ICU.
Could Zhang Ping have been lying?
But under those circumstances, he had no reason to lie.
Or had his sister never been taken to a hospital at all?
Su Han stood beneath a streetlamp outside the hospital, powerless as the night wind blew past.
He suddenly felt as if he had been locked inside a vast cage, unable to escape, unable to find a way out.
His parents were dead, his sister was missing, his girlfriend had vanished, and his neighbor had fled.
He didn't even know the killer's name, much less whom to take revenge on.
This sense of powerlessness.
For some reason, it swept over him now, leaving Su Han exhausted in body and mind.
He was irritated.
Irresistibly irritated.
He reached out with his right hand and couldn't help gripping the metal railing beside him.
It was a stainless-steel guardrail outside the hospital, as thick as the mouth of a bowl and welded firmly in place.
But in Su Han's hand, it rapidly caved in like tofu.
"Creak-"
A piercing sound rang out as the metal twisted and broke.
Su Han came back to his senses and looked at the stainless-steel pipe he had flattened in his hand.
He released it.
He looked at the dent.
Yet there wasn't so much as a red mark on his palm.
His strength was still growing.
Growing with every passing moment.
[Constitution: 206] [Comprehension: 209]
His constitution and comprehension had both already surpassed two hundred points.
Only about a day had passed since he escaped from the basement, yet his constitution and comprehension had soared by more than two hundred points.
At this rate, in a few more days.
Just how strong would he become?
A flash of understanding suddenly crossed Su Han's mind.
"Perhaps I was wrong. Maybe they're more anxious than I am?" he murmured.
If the killer really had enough power and influence to buy off the patrol station, fabricate evidence, and silence witnesses.
Then they should already know that Zhang Qu and Zhao Mu were dead.
And they also knew.
He had escaped.
A potential enemy would always put people on their guard.
They might be looking for him too.
With that thought, Su Han stopped acting blindly. A plan suddenly formed in his mind.
"Since I can't find them."
"Then I'll wait for them to come to me."
"But before that, I still need to become stronger."
"Strong enough to make all my enemies afraid."
Su Han now planned to go to the Celestial Phenomena Martial Arts School first.
To learn the subsequent secret martial arts.
His basic boxing technique and Celestial Phenomenon Stance Technique had both reached perfection, but he didn't yet have the subsequent parts of the technique.
The Celestial Phenomena Martial Arts School was sure to have more advanced secret martial arts.
If he went there to learn, he could become stronger.
Only with enough strength could he deal with any unexpected turn of events.
Just like this incident.
If he had been strong enough, strong enough to make even the killer behind it afraid of him, how could anything have happened to his parents and sister?
Su Han's eyes flickered as he turned and left the hospital.
His figure soon disappeared at the end of the street.
About a minute after Su Han left.
A middle-aged security guard walked out of the hospital guardroom, still bleary-eyed.
"What was that noise, in the middle of the night..."
When he reached the entrance and saw the flattened section of stainless-steel railing on the ground.
He froze.
The surface of the stainless steel still bore what looked like a twisted palm print. Someone had probably pulled it apart and dented it with their bare hands.
"I... holy crap..."
The guard sucked in a breath of cold air, astonished.
Twisting stainless steel apart with human strength.
Just what kind of terrifying existence was that person?
Could it have been a legendary enhanced human, or perhaps a modified human?
At the same time.
Central Jinghai City.
On the top floor of a luxurious building.
A deep red carpet covered the corridor, pale gold reliefs adorned the walls, and crystal sconces cast a soft glow.
A young woman walked past in high heels.
She was about twenty, tall and dressed in a well-fitted professional skirt suit.
Holding a document, she walked briskly to the end of the corridor with an efficient air.
She raised a hand and knocked.
"Come in."
A deep male voice came from inside.
Only then did the woman push the door open and enter.
The office was large, more than two hundred square meters.
Through the floor-to-ceiling windows that covered an entire wall, the night view of Jinghai City was visible, countless lights shining brilliantly.
A middle-aged man was sitting on a leather sofa inside.
He was around forty, with a square face and thick eyebrows, and two buttons of his shirt were undone.
He was looking down at a tablet and smoking a cigar.
"Mr. Mo." The young woman walked up to the desk and bowed slightly.
Mo Tong raised his head and glanced at her.
"Yanfang, what is it?"
Wang Yanfang handed him the folder she was holding.
"There's been a problem with the Taian East Road case."
Mo Tong took the folder and frowned as he asked.
"What problem?"
"The target, Su Han, escaped," Wang Yanfang said calmly.
"Today, he escaped from the basement of Tai'an Road Patrol Station, injured patrol officers, and killed the station chief Zhang Qu, patrol officers Zhang Ping and Yu Qiang, and the neighbor who was a witness, Zhao Mu."
Wang Yanfang then handed him her phone, which displayed surveillance footage.
The footage showed a blurry figure of Su Han. It was clear that he moved quickly and possessed great strength.
Mo Tong didn't rush to speak.
He simply looked over the documents and video.
After a moment or so, a strange expression appeared on his face, and he asked about something that didn't add up.
"Interesting." Mo Tong smiled, but there was no smile in his eyes.
"Didn't the file say this kid was just a university student? His parents ran a noodle shop, and his sister was a kindergarten teacher. Just an ordinary person."
"That was indeed the result of the earlier investigation," Wang Yanfang said.
She then brought up several photos of Su Han flattening the hospital railing.
Mo Tong turned a few more pages, took another couple of looks at the surveillance footage, and gave his assessment.
"He's fairly strong."
"But that's about it. Judging by the destructive power, his combat power is probably around 500, equivalent to the Ming Jin stage of secret martial arts. Nothing worth mentioning."
Mo Tong closed the folder and looked no further.
"Send two people to take care of him. Do it cleanly and leave no loose ends."
"Understood." Wang Yanfang nodded. "And the case itself..."
"Just find someone else to take the blame," Mo Tong said casually.
"Look at the relationships section in Su Han's file. Isn't there someone named Zhao Kai? He's his roommate, right?"
Wang Yanfang opened the file and found Zhao Kai's information.
"Yes. He's a second-year computer science student at Jinghai University. He and Su Han are in the same class and dorm, and they're very close."
"He'll do." Mo Tong made his decision.
"Say that Zhao Kai went home with Su Han as a guest that night, and that some conflict drove him mad enough to kill Su Han's entire family."
"Su Han was so traumatized that he ran away and attacked people everywhere, and in the end we shot him dead in legitimate self-defense."
"You know how to put together the chain of evidence, don't you?"
"We do." Wang Yanfang nodded again. "I'll make the arrangements immediately."
