Questioning

Su Han clenched his hands slightly, his knuckles cracking sharply.

He could feel the power surging wildly through his body, and it was still growing.

His Basic Fist Technique had now reached perfection, and he had even incorporated the power-generation techniques of the Celestial Phenomenon Stance Technique.

His control over his strength had reached the point where he could wield and restrain it at will, allowing him to measure his blows.

He still needed to ask Zhang Qu for some information, so he hadn't killed him outright.

Zhang Qu lay sprawled in the rubble, several of his teeth broken.

"You, you!"

He stared fixedly at Su Han, his eyes full of shock and bewilderment.

The force behind that slap had been terrifying.

Just a few days ago, this kid had clearly been an ordinary college student. Pinned to the ground, he hadn't even had the strength to struggle.

How... had he sent him flying several meters with one slap?

What had happened in the meantime? Why had he become so terrifying?

Had this kid practiced secret martial arts?

When had he practiced them?

"Su Han." Zhang Qu had caught his breath by now. Once again forcing himself to put on the authority of a station chief, he shouted in a trembling voice.

"I warn you, this is the Security Patrol Office."

"Attacking law enforcement officers is a capital crime."

"A capital crime?" Su Han interrupted Zhang Qu and suddenly smiled.

His smile held no warmth. It was cold enough to pierce the bone.

"My parents were dismembered, my sister was severely beaten, and the killer is still at large."

"Your Security Patrol Office framed me and beat a confession out of me. You want me dead."

"And now you're talking to me about capital crimes?"

Su Han walked forward one step at a time.

Zhang Qu tried to move, but he couldn't muster any strength.

"Stay back!" Zhang Qu shouted, trying to sound fierce despite his fear.

"My men are all outside. I just have to shout, and they'll come rushing in."

"Su Han, I advise you to turn yourself in while you still can. Maybe they can reduce your sentence."

"Go ahead and shout." Su Han stopped and looked down at him.

"See if anyone comes."

Zhang Qu froze.

Only then did he realize that, after all the commotion just now, someone outside should have rushed in long ago.

But now, everything was deathly silent, frighteningly quiet.

Zhang Qu gradually felt a bad premonition.

"You, you did something to all of them..." Zhang Qu's voice trembled slightly.

But Su Han had already reached him and said no more.

He raised his foot and gently brought it down on Zhang Qu's left knee.

The movement seemed slow and gentle.

But the instant his foot made contact-

Crack!

The sound of a bone shattering rang out clearly.

"Aaaah!!!" Zhang Qu immediately let out a bloodcurdling scream.

He curled up like a shrimp, clutching his left leg with both hands.

His knee was twisted at a grotesque angle. Shattered bone pierced his blood vessels, and blood gushed out.

"Somebody, help!"

Zhang Qu screamed at the top of his lungs in the office.

"There's a thug attacking me!"

"Someone get in here, now!"

He cried for help for half a minute, but the hallway remained deathly silent.

Zhang Qu's face went from flushed red to deathly pale, and finally ashen.

At last, he looked at Su Han. Fear had completely filled his eyes, and his voice took on a tearful edge.

"Spare me!"

"Su Han, no, Master Su."

"Please, spare me. I was only following orders..."

Su Han crouched down and asked calmly,

"Who killed my parents and injured my sister?"

At the question, Zhang Qu trembled all over.

His eyes darted away, and his lips quivered.

"I don't know about that either."

"I only did what my superiors told me to. I really don't know anything else..."

His voice grew quieter as he spoke, and he sounded less and less sure of himself.

Su Han had no patience to waste on him. He stood up again.

He raised his foot.

This time, he aimed at the right knee.

"No, don't! I'll talk, I'll tell you everything."

Crack!

The sharp crack cut him off.

Another string of screams followed from Zhang Qu.

Su Han simply watched him calmly, his expression unchanged.

"Go on."

"I... I really don't know..." Zhang Qu screamed and wailed.

"I was just paid to do a job. I made you the culprit in the case. I don't know anything else about what happened in between..."

He was still playing dumb.

Su Han raised his foot again and began stomping down Zhang Qu's right leg, section by section.

Amid the bloody, mangled flesh, Zhang Qu completely broke down.

"Stop stomping, I'm begging you. Let me off this once."

"I really can't tell you. If I do, I'll die. My whole family, young and old, will die..."

He lay in a pool of blood, snot and tears mingling on his face.

"My wife and child are in Jinghai. They'll wipe out my whole family..."

Su Han stopped, too, and fell silent for two seconds.

A trace of anger entered his voice.

"Then did my parents deserve to die?"

"Did my sister deserve to have every bone in her body broken and be left in the ICU waiting to die?"

Zhang Qu opened his mouth, but no sound came out.

Su Han reached into Zhang Qu's pocket and pulled out a phone.

He used Zhang Qu's fingerprint to unlock the screen, then searched the contacts for numbers.

There were several unfamiliar numbers with no names attached.

Su Han scrolled through the phone right in front of Zhang Qu, carefully watching his slightest reactions.

His comprehension and physique were no longer what they had once been.

His thoughts moved at an astonishing speed, and his powers of observation were sharper than ever.

When he came across one number, Zhang Qu's eyelid twitched.

Although it lasted only an instant, Su Han still caught it and confirmed the number.

He immediately tapped the call button.

The phone rang five times before the call was answered.

A young woman's voice followed, asking coldly,

"Is it done?"

That one sentence alone

was enough for Su Han to determine that even if the woman on the other end wasn't the killer herself, she was definitely connected to the killer.

She hadn't even asked who it was. She had opened by asking for confirmation of the result.

Su Han was silent for two seconds.

Then he slowly held the phone out in front of Zhang Qu, giving him a threatening look to signal that he should speak carefully and bluff his way through.

Zhang Qu looked at the phone, then at Su Han, before nodding solemnly.

Only then did Su Han hold the phone to Zhang Qu's ear.

But unexpectedly, Zhang Qu took a deep breath, as though he had made up his mind.

The next second,

he suddenly burst into a scream, the words tumbling out at a furious pace.

"Help! He escaped! He's in my office and he broke my legs! Please save me and spare my wife and children, my whole family..."

Su Han's gaze turned cold.

Quick-eyed and quick-handed, he seized Zhang Qu's jaw in one hand and twisted hard.

Crack.

His jaw immediately dislocated, and his screams turned into muffled whimpers.

But it was too late. The person on the other end already knew something had gone wrong at the Security Patrol Office.

There was only a brief silence.

Then the icy female voice came again.

"Who are you?"

"Who are you people?" Su Han asked in return.

The woman on the other end didn't answer the question. She only said coldly,

"I don't care who you are."

"You're dead."

Then she hung up.
