There Are No Poor People at Hogwarts
William was suddenly stopped by Professor Sprout, who assumed she had come to ask for the Devil's Snare.
But Professor Sprout simply said gently, "Mr. Stark, I heard from Pomfrey that you can brew many Potions, and are proficient in brewing most of the ones in the textbook?"
William consulted Madam Pomfrey about a lot of knowledge about recovery potions, and when he had nothing to do, he would also help her brew some medicine to treat colds.
Madam Pomfrey was very knowledgeable about William's Potions skills.
"Oh, yes, Professor," William said quickly. "What, do you need my help?"
"Indeed, many plants in the greenhouse have been damaged recently. Judging from the marks, I suspect there are Knarl at the school."
William frowned and said, "But I remember that Knarl usually only live in Northern Europe and the Americas?"
The Knarl is a Ministry of Magic Magical Creatures of the XXX category. It is an annoying creature that wreaks havoc on plants.
"Who knows?" Professor Sprout complained. "Maybe it's Hagrid; he always keeps some strange creatures."
I'm really worried that raising so many ferocious Magical Creatures will destroy those lovely and delicate plants.
The golden pumpkins I planted that time were stolen by his Niffler.
Professor Sprout's meaning was simple: he wanted William to help him brew a batch of Knarl- repelling agent to get rid of all these annoying guys.
William was happy to oblige, Professor Sprout's greenhouse had a large stock of herbs, which were essential components of Potions.
William could take the opportunity to demand some precious herbs and enrich himself.
For example, even though the Knarl repellent only requires one ounce of Bouncing Bulb, Merlin demanded a pound.
One pound is sixteen ounces, so William's opening statement multiplied it sixteenfold.
William was lost in a sweet fantasy, Professor Sprout whispered:
"I used to ask Professor Snape to brew Potions, but I think I'll pass."
He wanted way too many herbs. Last time I asked him to prepare a special insecticide, I only needed one ounce of Fanged Geranium, but he asked for ten pounds, and even then he kept saying it wasn't enough...
William sighed in despair, filled with resentment... He hated himself.
He's still too thin-skinned, far inferior to Professor Snape. He truly is a role model for us all.
Professor Sprout glanced at William and asked, "Son, you won't do the same, will you?"
"Professor Sprout, do you think I'm that kind of person?" William said angrily. "I'm not saying this to be mean, but Professor Snape went too far!"
"Cedric is a good friend of mine, and he often mentions you."
Brewing you Potions is a piece of cake. Even if you don't give me the herbs and make me pay for it myself, I'll still do it for you.
Of course, not giving it to you isn't your style, and it wouldn't sound good if word got out.
However, my success rate isn't always high, but rest assured, it definitely requires fewer herbs Professor Snape!
"..."
Soon, the two entered the greenhouse.
William spotted a row of flowerpots in the corner; they were Mandrake, which they had only Mandrake the first week.
Mandrake is a powerful restorative agent used to restore people who have been Transfiguration or cursed to their original state.
An adult's cry can be fatal.
This is the lovely yet "fragile" plant that Professor Sprout described.
Their lesson wasn't about Mandrake. Professor Sprout was standing behind a bench in the middle of the greenhouse, with about twenty pairs of Dragon Hide protective gloves on it.
Professor Sprout said, "Today we're going to give the Mouthy Flower a new set of teeth. Now, can anyone tell me what the Mouthy Flower's characteristics are?"
Presumably because William had agreed to help brew the Potions, Professor Sprout called on him, saying, "Mr. Stark, you answer."
"The Mouthy Flower, also known as the Carnivorous Flower, has fruit that can be used to create antidotes that neutralize the poisons of other Magical Creatures."
"Very good, Ravenclaw two points." Professor Sprout was already very generous; other professors would usually only give William one point.
"The Mouthy Flower is an important component of most antidotes; it can even neutralize many rare snake venoms and Erumpent venoms."
She pointed to a row of about several dozen bonsai trees.
Those were some very beautiful plants, with flowers arranged like the sun and an alluring fragrance.
But each of the Mouthy Flower wore a huge mask that covered its large mouth.
"The Mouthy Flower is dangerous too, can anyone tell me why?"
Qiu raised his hand and said, "The teeth of the Mouthy Flower are very sharp, and they are also poisonous."
It attacks creatures when it's hungry; there are four recorded instances of wizards being eaten by the Mouthy Flower in the 20th century.
"Very good, ten points for Ravenclaw," Professor Sprout said.
Many young wizards gasped and retreated, seemingly afraid of adding another case to the record.
Professor Sprout reassured them, "Don't worry, children, our Mouthy Flower are just losing their baby teeth; it's not that dangerous."
Sprout's tone was as if Mouthy Flower were still a child, which reminded William of Hagrid.
Hagrid still thinks Fluffy is an adorable kid.
"Everyone take a pair of Dragon Hide protective gloves," Professor Sprout said.
"When removing the mask from Mouthy Flower, never put your hand directly into its mouth."
Professor Sprout put on a pair of gloves, rolled up his sleeves, and gently peeled off the mask from the right side, using the barbs.
All the young wizards did as instructed.
The Mouthy Flower looks a lot like the Mouthy Flower from Plants vs. Zombies. It has a big mouth with yellow teeth, making it look like it could swallow someone whole.
"This is a bottle of anesthetic. When these children are about to lose their baby teeth, everyone will take a brush and apply it to Mouthy Flower's mouth to reduce the pain."
After Professor Sprout finished applying the ointment, he took a huge pair of tweezers, clamped it onto the sharp, pointed tooth of the Mouthy Flower, and pulled it out with force.
"After these teeth are pulled out, new teeth will grow, and their fruit will grow a full size," she said calmly, as if she had just watered the begonias.
"Four people per plate—there are lots of flowerpots here—the compost is in that bag over there—watch out for the Venomous Tentacula, they're sprouting teeth."
Professor Sprout slapped a deep red plant covered in thorns, causing it to retract the tentacles that had been stealthily reaching towards her shoulder.
The Venomous Tentacula is a thorny green plant. Its tendrils are mobile and will attempt to seize nearby living prey.
The tender branches of the Venomous Tentacula secrete venom, and its thorns are also highly poisonous; a bite from the Venomous Tentacula can be fatal.
In fact, despite how dangerous the Venomous Tentacula are, each of its leaves is worth 10 Galleon.
Professor Sprout's Venomous Tentacula even had a whole greenhouse inside.
Calling the professors at Hogwarts "nouveau riche" is an insult to them.
They are highly educated intellectuals; in their spare time, they are professors at universities, and when they are busy, they run companies.
There are no poor people at Hogwarts!
