The public has the right to ignorance
After the Auror left, Cregan sat back down in his chair.
He scrutinized William and said in a pleasant voice, "Stark, I really didn't expect you to turn yourself in to the Ministry of Magic."
"Are you cornered by our Auror?"
"Hmm? Your Auror are chasing us?" William tilted his head, looking puzzled.
"I'm so sorry, you guys didn't put enough pressure on us. Hermione and I were having so much fun that we didn't even notice."
"Sharp-tongued." Cregan smiled. Once the Stark entered the Ministry of Magic, they were nothing more than meat on a chopping board.
He calmly asked, "Then why did you come to the Ministry of Magic on your own initiative?"
"I told you, I'm here to negotiate."
"The condition... you found the box?!"
"The trunk? What trunk?" William feigned ignorance. "You mean Newt's trunk? Hasn't it always been in the United Kingdom? It's never been lost."
"It seems we've really found it." Cregan nodded slightly.
"Never mind whether I found it or not, the key issue now is no longer the box, but the atomic bomb in Arya's possession."
William frowned slightly and said in a serious tone, "But I've noticed that you seem to be taking no action, nor have you informed the public or carried out an effective evacuation."
"Inform the public?" Cregan exclaimed in surprise, then said with amusement, "William, are you joking?"
"What's wrong?" the boy asked, looking puzzled.
"Am I wrong? That's an atomic bomb, it could be detonated in Paris. You're the government, of course you have to tell everyone, the public has the right to know..."
"No, they have the right to be ignorant," Cregan stated firmly.
"Knowledge represents conspiracy and crime, while ignorance has a certain dignity."
William, you cannot always unconditionally satisfy every desire of the people if that desire does not benefit them.
It's like, would you give a drunkard a bottle of Firewhisky?
"Won't..."
"Yes, the atomic bomb is like Firewhisky, and the public is like a drunkard. Letting them know too much will only cause panic and serve no other purpose," Cregan said calmly.
"To tell you the truth, suppressing this matter was not my personal decision, but a joint decision made after serious discussions between the Minister for Magic and the Muggle President Mitterrand."
"They believe that declaring a nuclear crisis in Paris now will only provoke that woman, causing her to immediately carry out a nuclear test, at which point everything will be beyond repair."
"So, you've chosen to do nothing and just wait to die?"
William pursed his lips tightly, his expression even more intense than Hermione 'McGonagall.
"Of course not." Cregan shook his head. "We negotiated with the Ukraine Ministry of Magic and confirmed that an atomic bomb was indeed missing, along with a number of Muggle Studies."
"We have already dispatched a large number of wizards to track down that woman. We must not alert her beforehand."
Paris is a huge city with over ten million Muggle. Do you know what kind of crisis it would cause if the Muggle found out about this?
People will flee indiscriminately, traffic will be paralyzed, and law and order will vanish. The country will descend into chaos.
That would be far more devastating than an atomic bomb. Furthermore, we cannot reveal the existence of the Wizarding World.
"But you can't even catch us, how can you expect to catch Arya?" William raised his chin and said sarcastically.
"So we need your help, we need more detailed information," Cregan said.
"I have no information to give you. What I know, I've already informed you through that letter."
William's eyes flashed with anger as he said vehemently, "You France people aren't prepared to take responsibility for your people, do you expect us United Kingdom to save you?"
Cregan looked William up and down in surprise, frowning as he asked, "Then what is your purpose today?!"
"Save Newt! We can't leave him here to die with you!" William said.
"If the nuclear bomb explodes, you'll definitely use Apparition to escape. Will anyone care about him in prison?"
"I'm sorry, but if you refuse to cooperate, Mr. Scamander will have to stay in the Ministry of Magic." Cregan's voice turned cold.
"This is not up to you," William said with a smile.
"What's the meaning?"
"Aren't you wondering why, when my lovely Hermione and I are always inseparable, only I... am here now?"
"So, where is your little girlfriend... Granger?"
Cregan narrowed his eyes. "You don't mean for her to break someone out of prison, do you? Don't be ridiculous, she's just a third-year witch, she doesn't have that ability!"
"Hermione certainly doesn't have that ability." William smiled sweetly, but there was no smile in his eyes; instead, they were icy cold.
That's why I'm wasting my breath talking to you here.
"You're not Stark?!" Cregan exclaimed in shock and anger.
"Of course not! I'm the powerless little witch you're talking about— Hermione Granger!" Hermione retorted, holding a grudge.
Hermione suddenly raised her hand and flung out more than a dozen Dungbomb and various smoke bombs from the Safety Watch.
A stench instantly filled the office, and a black fog obscured Cregan's vision.
The girl angrily dumped all the prank items sold in Akali's Mystery Shop into the not-so-large office, as if taking out trash.
How dare they say she's incompetent!
Hermione was so angry!
A large number of beans fell to the ground and turned into pea shooters, spraying wildly.
This thing was made by William and first sold to the young wizards at Hogwarts to deal with Quirrell.
Now it has become Cregan's nightmare.
Cregan roared in fury, waving his wand to create a barrier that blocked the pea's attack.
He waved his wand again, and a gust of wind swept through, but the black smoke did not dissipate and still shrouded the office.
Of course it didn't dissipate; this darkness was created by Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder, and only Dark Magic items like the Hand of Glory could pass through it.
The Auror at the door opened it and rushed in.
But from within the black mist, a vine wrapped around his ankle, throwing him backward.
--Devil's Snare!
William once took the Devil's Snare from the fourth-floor Restricted Section and turned it into a massage machine.
After two years of cultivation, many Devil's Snare strains have been grown.
Hermione left it in the office, and the Devil's Snare raged wildly in the darkness.
Cregan's office instantly transformed into an enhanced version of the Hogwarts Restricted Section.
Hermione threw the Occamy that was wrapped around her left hand. It suddenly grew larger and smashed through the office wall.
Hermione whistled, Occamy turned and charged towards her. She leaped up and crashed headlong down the stairs.
"Goodbye, Director! William and I will visit you next time we're in Paris!"
The Ministry of Magic's sixth basement level: the prison.
Bound and suspended in mid-air by magic, Newt was carried upstairs as the prisoners pounded on the iron bars and shouted.
Four Auror surrounded Newt, guarding him, and they successfully left the heavily guarded underground prison.
After walking for only a few minutes, the elevator doors suddenly opened, and a figure covered in dust rushed out.
--It's Cregan!
"Quickly, hand Scamander over to me!" Cregan said urgently.
"Stark just attacked me in my office; he's trying to kidnap Scamander."
"But, Mr. Cregan..."
"Hurry, he brought a lot of wizards. You go and provide support now. I'll take Scamander and leave first."
"Yes!" One of the Auror handed Scamander over to Cregan.
The four Auror had only taken a few steps when the alarm suddenly went off.
A series of sprays emerged from the walls, and large amounts of liquid gushed onto the corridor.
Every portrait on the corridor walls became a William.
The alarm continued to sound.
"Warning! Warning! Wanted wizard William Stark!"
Four Auror stared at Cregan... or more accurately, at William.
The effects of the Polyjuice Potion have been washed away by the liquid, and William has changed again.
William gave an awkward laugh.
What a blunder... He didn't even know that the French Ministry of Magic had installed such a defensive device.
This anti-theft spray can wash away all spells and all magical disguises!
There's a lack of intelligence.
It seems Hermione acted a little too soon, triggering the alarm system and getting him into trouble.
But what does it matter?
William pulled out his wand and said arrogantly in French, "I'll play with you."
There are only four Auror... that's all.
