City Destroyers
What's going on?
Cregan's Office
William sat on the leather sofa, swinging his legs, and asked, "Is your Ministry of Magic conducting a sting operation?"
Cregan waved his wand, and the teapot automatically poured two cups of coffee, which floated onto the coffee table.
"William, don't put it so harshly."
He smiled, and was still happy to see the two of them.
Although most of the time I've known them has been unhappy, and you could even say I've been in a state of constant anxiety.
"That's our undercover agent. Recently, he's been cooperating with the United Kingdom in a crackdown on witches who are illegally crossing borders."
The operation's code name is "Bird-Catching Plan."
"You've even crossed borders to carry out your crackdown, all the way to Albania?" Hermione, standing next to William, bluntly revealed the truth.
"Um... well..." Cregan was a little embarrassed and forcibly changed the subject:
"Weren't you two destroying... cough cough, I mean, saving Venice in Italy?"
Hermione picked up her coffee, took a small sip, and seemed to be talking to herself:
"That wizard also said that we couldn't come from the United Kingdom and suggested that we transit through France."
Isn't that a lie?
You certainly did not form a so-called crackdown with the United Kingdom Ministry of Magic.
That wizard probably said that to every illegal immigrant, deliberately sending them to France, right?
"Hermione." Cregan raised his hands above his head in a France military salute.
I surrender.
You're still as smart as ever, but there are some things you see through but don't say out loud; that way, it saves me face.
He glanced at the two overly young wizards and teased:
William will likely become the youngest Minister for Magic.
Hermione, if you ever join the United Kingdom Ministry of Magic and want to be a good helper, then...
There are some things to be careful about when pretending to be confused.
William is a master of playing dumb!
You should learn from him; at least when you're not in a high position, you should at least save face for your superiors.
We can't let them lose face in public.
After all, not everyone is as smart as you.
William grinned. "You've got it backwards. I helped her become the youngest Minister for Magic."
He will likely follow in Dumbledore's footsteps and become the Supreme Mugwump. Hermione, on the other hand, will become the youngest Minister for Magic.
A strong alliance between domestic and international partners ensures a stable position.
After working for n years and getting tired, William, like Nicolas, went to Hawaii... and used a water gun.
"Hey, is this how young people play nowadays?"
Cregan shook his head and laughed, "Whatever, it doesn't matter who's the minister."
Anyway, you two are family. If something happens, you'll just discuss it behind closed doors at night. It's no different.
Hermione's face flushed instantly.
How was she supposed to respond?
The Department of Magical Law Enforcement was far too blunt; he was even more direct than she was.
Hermione buried her face in the cup, pretending to drink coffee, while secretly pinching William's waist with two fingers.
He, who had been secretly laughing, suddenly winced in pain.
William was somewhat amused and exasperated; it wasn't him who had said those words.
He reached out and grasped two of Hermione's fingers. She struggled but didn't pull away, letting him hold them gently.
William, mimicking Hermione's tone, continued her words:
"Mr. Cregan, don't deliberately change the subject."
Was the wizard who sold the Portkey an undercover agent?
You clearly and deliberately helped people smuggle themselves out before making the arrests. This is a direct violation of the "International Statute of Secrecy."
"Sigh, there's nothing I can do," Cregan sighed.
"Last year's stability maintenance fund allocated 10,000 Galleon to you two as a reward for your Medal of Valor."
By the middle of this year, the hole still hadn't been plugged. They could only resort to this method to boost sales, catching some smuggled wizards to earn some extra money.
Cregan offered a forced explanation.
"Within the industry, there's a new term for this: 'preventing crime early and making precise arrests.'"
"If we do that, won't those businesses selling Portkey lose all their credibility?" William asked. "Who would dare buy from them next time?"
"Oh dear, four years of planning, just to make money in this one summer. United Kingdom is reaping the rewards of hosting the Quidditch World Cup, and we France are left with only scraps."
"..."
After it was confirmed that United Kingdom would host the Quidditch World Cup, the French Ministry of Magic began planning this project.
Are they just waiting for four years to fleece all of Europe?!
"Give us back the sixty Galleon we just got," William said stingily.
"Stop it, just consider it a small payment for the men's tea." Cregan waved his hand.
Once the money is in the hands of the France, there's no chance of it being returned.
"That man just blackmailed us, trying to sell information about our smuggling to the newspapers," Hermione said, looking up.
"Uh..." Cregan cleared his throat. Of course, this was what he taught him. When encountering a famous wizard, one must threaten them.
However, we certainly cannot admit it.
He slammed his fist on the table and roared, "Damn it! Usopp actually dares to take bribes behind people's backs!"
I will definitely teach him a lesson. Don't worry, your affair won't be leaked!
William and Hermione both looked at him with distrust.
"By the way, what brought you two to Albania?"
Cregan finally changed the subject.
"I heard that you two didn't even attend the medal ceremony and continued your round-the-world trip? You just threw away 20,000 Galleon like that?"
William paused for a moment, then said, "We encountered Voldemort in the Albania forest."
Cregan gasped, jumped to his feet, opened the door, glanced inside, closed it again, and whispered:
"Don't joke around, the You-Know-Who is... dead, killed by that the Boy Who Lived. We all know that."
"Do I look like I'm joking with you?" William said calmly.
Cregan remained silent.
He is a politician who habitually distrusts others.
But after the turmoil of last summer, even if I don't trust anyone, I won't distrust William and Hermione.
Moreover, there are persistent rumors that You-Know-Who is still alive and hiding in Albania.
If he is truly alive and has not died, and there is a possibility of him making a comeback... then things are not good.
What exactly happened that night thirteen years ago remains unknown.
Everyone knows that Voldemort attacked Harry Potter, but died inexplicably.
No one really believed that the little wizard named Potter actually had the power to kill the Dark Lord.
The boy in front of me might be a possibility.
Look at what William did. Not to mention the distant past, just take the White Dragon incident... He managed to flood the entire Venice, and he even managed to stop the White Dragon.
If there truly is the Chosen One, Cregan only recognizes... the Stark!
William quickly recounted what had happened the previous night and returned the wizards from the Minotaur Bar to Cregan.
"We need to return to the United Kingdom immediately," William said.
Cregan leaned back on the sofa and nodded. "Yes, I'll prepare the Portkey for you right away."
If you need anything else, please let me know.
I'm not that fool Fudge; I can help you as much as I can.
"It's because you two saved Paris."
"Thank you." William stood up and shook hands with Cregan.
As William and Hermione were about to leave, he suddenly turned around and asked:
"Why do those Auror react like they've seen a fire dragon when they see the two of us?"
Cregan took a breath and smiled:
"Costa is the most beautiful girl in our French Ministry of Magic; everyone's afraid you'll steal her away."
That... is certainly not the real reason.
When you came to France, Paris was almost hit by a nuclear bomb; when you went to Italy, news came that Venice was flooded...
Is this reason sufficient?
Cregan would have preferred to say:
Believe it or not, he's right here waiting, and within a day he'll hear news of Albania's destruction!
Why am I afraid of the two of you?
Don't you have any self-awareness?!
Why does Newt, with his immense fame, resort to illegal immigration to every country he visits? Why is he immediately detained in the United States?
It's all because he always carries a dangerous case!
Newt is getting old and can't be as active anymore.
Now, the title of City Destroyers... has quietly fallen upon William and Hermione.
City Destroyers... you two little devils!
