A Toast to Freedom, a Toast to Death!
William was no stranger to Corvinus Gaunt, a descendant of Slytherin, and had even been paying attention to him for a long time.
He first saw this name, and it was actually related to Dumbledore.
In his first year, he wanted to make Hogwarts Map.
The headmaster then recommended the seven-volume Hogwarts construction blueprint set.
William, having nothing better to do, did indeed browse through it and saw it there:
In the 18th century, Corvinus Gaunt oversaw the construction of the Hogwarts pipeline system.
He didn't pay much attention to this intelligence at the time, until Little Tom in the diary started stirring up trouble.
William needs to find the location of the Chamber of Secrets.
In the secret passage containing the underground palace of the Four Founders, there is the shed skin of the Basilisk.
Following the direction of the shed skin, William discovered the Basilisk moving around in the pipe.
Then he remembered Corvinus Gaunt.
Corvinus had clearly discovered the Chamber of Secrets, which is why he used a complex piping system to completely conceal the Basilisk and prevent it from being found by others.
In other words, old Gaunt discovered the things in the Chamber of Secrets Sanctuary containing Slytherin's Notes before Little Tom.
The strange thing is that, even though he discovered these things and deliberately hid the Chamber of Secrets, he didn't take the Basilisk and the notebook with him.
Instead, it remained there for two hundred years, and was eventually discovered by Little Tom.
This man was strange in every way, so William began to deliberately investigate Corvinus Gaunt.
In the book * the Glory of History) *, he found an entry for Corvinus Gaunt, which contained only a few simple sentences:
Corvinus Gaunt defied his family's orders and did not marry his cousin, instead eloping with a Veela named Babbling.
The couple had one daughter who died young.
Corvinus Gaunt last disappeared in "the City of Seven Hills".
Now, with Dumbledore's information added, this Gaunt is catching up with Slytherin even earlier than Little Tom.
He even released the octopus, which is how the North Sea Kraken came to be.
William felt shrouded in mystery, and he asked in bewilderment, "Why would he do that?"
"The same goal as Grindelwald's," Dumbledore suddenly said, his hands behind his back as he looked up at the sky, "To find Death."
"But Nicolas said that if we want to find Death, we must set off together like the Three Brothers."
They might be related by blood, or as close as brothers, but in the end only one person can survive.
William frowned and said:
"But Gaunt and Grindelwald are both alone."
"The North Sea Kraken was sent by Death. By using its power to go against the current, one can also meet Death."
This process was incredibly difficult and fraught with uncertainty.
Dumbledore dejected.
Back then, when he and Grindelwald were together, they planned a pilgrimage route, partly to find the Deathly Hallows and partly to seek Prehistoric Mysteries.
The two even devised a plan on how to find Death.
Later, after his sister Ariana's death, Dumbledore broke with Grindelwald completely and abandoned all his previous plans.
But Dumbledore always wanted to resurrect his sister. While he was constantly searching for the Resurrection Stone, he also considered searching for Death.
Unlike the Three Brothers, he couldn't find Death, but he did manage to investigate the North Sea Kraken.
I've searched the North Sea over the years, but I've never found the siren.
Unexpectedly, it suddenly appeared and began attacking the owner of the Deathly Hallows.
Grindelwald also took the opportunity to leave, choosing to use it to fulfill the promise he made years ago.
William looked into Dumbledore's eyes and said softly, "Professor, why do you know so much about Gaunt?"
It's understandable that Dumbledore knew about Grindelwald, but he shouldn't be so certain about Gaunt from two hundred years ago.
Dumbledore cautious with his words; anything he guesses will be very euphemistic.
"That's what others told me. I made an agreement with her that I couldn't say anything more about her or any other details." Dumbledore shook his head.
William, who was deep in thought, suddenly spoke up:
"Professor, what is the relationship between Corvinus Gaunt and Professor Babbling?"
Babbling knew about the Ravenclaw Bronze Ring, and even after William entered the time loop, she still retained her memories.
The reason was that the azurite amulet around her neck had a design of a snake coiled around a scepter.
On the back of the amulet, there is also a gorgeous, serpentine S.
This was left behind by Slytherin, specifically for Ravenclaw Ring.
Professor Babbling, this older Veela and vampire, seems to be a descendant of Slytherin, so it's possible she has some connection to Gaunt.
Hearing William's words, Dumbledore was surprised for the second time today, and he sighed slightly:
"William, you're really smart, but I still can't tell you. You can ask her yourself."
If it were you, she would definitely tell you. She even asked me a few days ago when she was going to let you go to United States.
William quickly shook his head.
To hell with United States! If we met, I'd probably make him kill someone again.
It's best to avoid that awful woman, Babbling, for the rest of my life.
Dumbledore slowly walked to the riverbank, gazed at the Danube, remained silent for a long time, and then sighed.
Back then, the two wanted to find Death, but not the Deathly Hallows.
History flows like a river, but the shadow of Death always lingers behind it.
He manipulated those powerful wizards with an invisible hand.
Whether it's handing over the Deathly Hallows or killing their owner... no one knows what Death is up to.
Dumbledore and Grindelwald firmly believed that Death would be the final obstacle to their plans.
They sought Death, but only to... kill God.
That's all.
After their falling out that summer, Dumbledore had completely given up on the idea, but Grindelwald still remembered it.
The old man suddenly stretched out a hand as if grasping a cup, and a crystal-clear cup made of river water appeared between his five fingers. He said loudly:
"A toast to freedom,
A toast to death!
May you rest in peace, my old friend!
The black, dilapidated boat sped along the river.
With snow-capped mountains on both sides, this stretch of water is extremely turbulent. High mountains stand opposite each other on both sides, with cliffs and precipices. The narrowest part of the water is no more than fifty meters wide, while the widest part is a hundred meters wide.
Sirius was wrapped in a thick robe, but without thermal underwear, he felt very cold.
He stood at the bow of the ship, looking at the Durmstrang students who seemed perfectly at ease, and was somewhat puzzled.
Don't these people's feet get cold?
No, that's a common saying in the United Kingdom:
Great Britain is colder, even colder than Northern Europe.
England is damp and cold, while Northern Europe is dry and cold.
One is a magical attack, and the other is a physical attack.
Sirius had always believed this statement to be true, but now, standing at the end of the Rhine in the Alps, feeling the high altitude and snow-capped mountains, he only wants to say:
The United Kingdom is colder than Northern Europe?!
Is -2 degrees Celsius colder than -20 or -30 degrees Celsius?
Why don't you say that United Kingdom is colder than the Arctic?
The reason why United Kingdom is damp and cold is precisely because it's not cold enough; the moisture in the air doesn't have time to condense!
Fortunately, migratory birds don't read newspapers, otherwise they wouldn't even leave the north in winter.
Alps are this cold, how cold must it be in Northern Europe?
Just as Sirius was worrying about his future, the roar of a wild beast suddenly came from afar.
It appears there is a fight.
"An avalanche has occurred!" someone shouted in terror.
Sirius looked up and saw a large amount of snow rolling down, the river freezing over quickly, and the entire boat was frozen solid.
