Preparations for the Company Headquarters; Da Sima, the Expert Who Never Went Prone
After the meeting, Su Ye returned to his office and sat down.
As the company continued to grow, it had to move out of its current premises.
That morning, he had still been thinking about building a company headquarters. He hadn't expected the issue to already be affecting the company's development.
He considered the company's current profits. It earned around two hundred million yuan a day, and over the past few months, Minecraft alone had brought in over a billion yuan in profit. Developing PUBG had cost less than a hundred million.
By his calculations, he still had over a billion yuan at his disposal.
Besides, PUBG had only just launched, so its profits were only beginning to come in. A daily profit of a hundred million yuan wouldn't be a problem.
With over a billion yuan on hand and daily profits exceeding a hundred million, perhaps he could begin construction on the headquarters.
Although that would use up a large portion of the company's cash, it was like building roads before seeking prosperity. Only with adequate facilities could the company improve its efficiency.
With that thought, Su Ye gritted his teeth and decided to build the headquarters.
Su Ye let out a long breath and called Deng Jiajia over from the next room.
When she arrived, Su Ye closed his eyes, then exhaled deeply and opened them again. "Deng Jiajia, there's something I need you to do."
"The company's premises are too small now. I need you to ask the authorities about acquiring a plot of land."
"We're going to build a headquarters."
Deng Jiajia's eyes widened. She had never imagined that President Su wanted to build the company's own headquarters.
As far as she knew, game companies were small businesses with no ability to build headquarters of their own.
Game companies were supposed to be small, nowhere near the scale of manufacturing or technology companies. Yet President Su wanted to build his own company headquarters.
Su Ye knew what she was thinking. No game company in this world had its own headquarters building. After all, game development in this world had previously been warped, and the market had never been developed.
Even Qisheng Game Company, the strongest of them all, was only a small business in Shencheng.
"All right, look at you. Do you really think our company is a small business?"
"Sometimes your horizons need to keep up with the company's growth. It's not as though you don't know how much profit we make each day."
"Go on, look into some plots for us. Show me what you find when the time comes."
Only then did Deng Jiajia come to her senses.
That was right. The company's daily profit had long since surpassed a hundred million yuan. All the other game companies combined probably didn't earn as much as theirs.
Even some traditional manufacturers probably weren't as profitable as their company.
At the thought, Deng Jiajia blushed and gave an embarrassed smile.
"I understand, President Su. I'll look into land in Shencheng today."
In Da Sima's livestream.
The livestream's viewer count had already passed five hundred thousand.
Da Sima was playing PUBG with bloodshot eyes as viewers kept urging him to stop.
[Teacher Ma, stop playing. It's already daylight.]
[Yeah, Teacher Ma, if you can't get a chicken dinner, just forget it. Let's stop, okay? If nothing else works, you can buy a chicken and eat that.]
[What's a chicken dinner?]
[It means "winner winner, chicken dinner."]
[Oh no, has Teacher Ma been up all night?]
Da Sima wasn't looking at the chat. He was completely focused on moving around the mountain in a crouch.
He hadn't made it into the final circle even once all night, and he refused to accept it.
This match, however, he was extremely confident. He was wearing a ghillie suit, so he had clearly gotten an airdrop, and his equipment was excellent.
He held a Kar98k, with an M416 fitted with attachments on his back. He was fully equipped for both long-range and close combat.
Da Sima stayed crouched on the mountaintop, keeping a close eye on the distance as he moved.
Even now, he didn't forget to share his thoughts on the game.
"You'll notice that experts never crawl, except in certain situations, of course."
"They move, constantly moving around."
"Because if a sniper sees you lying prone, you're dead for sure. One shot to the head."
As he spoke, Da Sima kept moving his character back and forth and from side to side, as though a sniper had already taken aim at him.
In fact, a player also wearing a ghillie suit was frowning right beneath his feet.
Where's that sound coming from? Why are there footsteps?
Just then, Da Sima fell silent. Someone was lying prone right under his feet. How had he failed to notice while he'd been talking all that time?
He quickly switched to his M416. The person on the ground had also noticed Da Sima standing on top of him.
"Rat-a-tat-tat."
Because Da Sima fired first, he knocked the player down.
Da Sima blinked, looked at the player who had turned into a loot crate in front of him, then glanced at the chat and couldn't help laughing.
"Hehehe."
"I didn't see him. There was someone here, hahaha."
The people watching the stream burst out laughing. Some who were eating breakfast nearly choked on their food.
[Pfft, hahaha! Did he really not notice someone was at Teacher Ma's feet the whole time?]
[Teacher Ma is something else. He didn't even see that? I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.]
[I can't take it. I nearly choked to death on my food.]
[Another episode in the Da Sima saga. I'm calling it "The Expert Who Never Went Prone."]
[As expected, only Teacher Ma could pull off a move like that.]
Seeing the crate in front of him, Da Sima chuckled, lay down beside it, and happily looted its contents.
They were now in the final circle. Only four people remained in the match: Da Sima and three others.
The final circle was small, and the gunfire just now had already attracted the other three players' attention.
Luckily, Da Sima was wearing a ghillie suit, so no one spotted him.
When the final circle began to close, Da Sima, who was still looting the crate, cried out and hurriedly got up from the ground.
"Damn, the blue zone's coming!"
Crouching, he pulled out a smoke grenade and threw it ahead of him.
The smoke grenade burst into a cloud of white smoke in the distance. Da Sima ran into the circle, dropped to the ground, and crawled forward.
"My move here is to feint in one direction and strike in another. Pay close attention."
"The smoke grenade went off in the middle, so someone will definitely think there's a person in the smoke."
"Look, there's gunfire. Everyone else is shooting at the smoke."
At that moment, the other three players were all pouring fire into the smoke.
Da Sima continued crawling along the ground. He was so focused that his breathing quickened.
A few seconds later, the first kill appeared, followed immediately by the second.
Only Da Sima and one other player remained. He held his breath and heard footsteps on the other side of the smoke grenade. The other player was still shooting into the smoke.
Just as the smoke began to clear, Da Sima spotted him and fired decisively from his prone position.
"Rat-a-tat-tat."
The bullets flew, leaving the player who had thought Da Sima was in the smoke stunned. Where did that guy come from? Wasn't he in the smoke?
Da Sima excitedly got up from the ground and shouted.
"Oh-ho-ho, chicken dinner, hahaha!"
"Just like I said, in certain situations, experts have to go prone."
"Did everyone learn that?"
Two lines of yellow text appeared before him.
[Winner winner, chicken dinner!]
