Background / History

Early Life and Luyu University

Jiang Wangxuan was reborn into Qinghuan with memories of a previous life. A Spirit Aperture manifested between his brows, allowing him to seek a cultivation method through Huaqi. He grew up in an ordinary Luzhou household without even a graded cultivation inheritance and frequently looked after Jiang Jinyi while their parents worked 3 17 53.

He entered Luyu University at fourteen. His rapid cultivation was supported by university rewards and carefully calculated loan allocations from the Great Qian Head Bank, each sufficient to fund his next breakthrough. Lin Tongjiang supervised his cultivation and resource applications under Chonghuan’s protection 2 3 4 39.

His Grand Yin presence became increasingly oppressive as he advanced. Classmates and even Foundation Establishment teachers treated him with uncomfortable formality, encouraging his withdrawal from ordinary university life. His main sustained social activity was three years of sword practice with Xue Renya 2 4 6.

Return to Luzhou and the Jiang Bloodline

After reaching Qi Refinement Perfection, Jiang Wangxuan resolved to attempt Foundation Establishment despite Lin Tongjiang’s warnings. Big Fat Fish identified the Spiritual Qi rampage and Black Tide within his Rising Yang Mansion as likely signs of an awakened True Lord bloodline. He returned to Luzhou to investigate before breaking through 5 6.

At home, he discovered that Jiang Dezhao had been exploited by an older girl with Law Power. He defended his brother, warned his family against allowing others to take advantage of them, and supplied Dezhao with a Qi Refinement-level Spirit Root. Dezhao’s unexpectedly rapid formation of Horn Wood Law Power attracted Luzhou officials and Hengbao Group 9 10 14 15.

His search for the bloodline’s origin led to Jinping Mountain, where he joined Fang Lin against spider demons and the Spider Mother. After killing her, he spared the unconscious Fang Lin despite Big Fat Fish’s warnings. He later refused Fang Lin’s invitation to establish his foundation in Jixia, unwilling to abandon Luyu and its teachers 16 25 27.

A hidden realm on Jinping Mountain revealed a Jiang ancestor who had changed his surname to Yin. The ancestor described generations of Spirit Aperture-bearing descendants being drawn onto a disastrous path despite their predecessors destroying the family’s cultivation methods. Jiang Wangxuan obtained the Cicada Immortal’s inheritance before leaving the collapsing realm 28 29 30.

Foundation Establishment and Lineage Politics

Before his breakthrough, Jiang Wangxuan entrusted Lin Tongjiang with arrangements for his family in case he died. These included life-prolonging pills for his parents, resources for Dezhao, and the return of his university-owned bracelet 31.

The White Hair Moon-Illuminating Pill supplied for his attempt contained corrupted lunar essence. Its crimson moon animated his flesh and emotions, nearly erasing his identity. After surviving, he concluded that a hidden enemy had targeted him and chose to conceal both his suspicions and the true nature of Immortal Moon Township 32 33 35.

Chonghuan subsequently explained the dangers surrounding Autumn Moon Osmanthus: previous practitioners included the slain True Person Miaoshang and Wei Jinghong, who had disappeared sixty years earlier. Offered a transfer to Jielin Hall or a place under Chonghuan at Luyu, Jiang Wangxuan chose the latter. He formally became Chonghuan’s student, binding his interests to Yuanhuai Heaven despite the risk of offending Jielin Hall 38 39 40.

Study of the Grand Yin Inheritance

After his breakthrough, Jiang Wangxuan arranged accommodation for Jinyi and Chen Suqiu at his vacant Wave-Gazing Residence. He also worked with Big Fat Fish to investigate Jinyi’s bloodline and the restrictions in her Dui Metal cultivation method 44 46 47.

During a visit to Huaqi, he entered the space containing True Lord Donghuan’s Stream Dream Railing Notes. He learned that Immortal Moon Township required a Grand Yin ritual to ascend to Purple Mansion, obtained teachings on the Five Lunar Phases, and brought Fahuan Hall into his Rising Yang Mansion. The Heavenly Origin Returning Soul Full Moon One Method clarified the transition from waxing to waning, but did not immediately increase his cultivation 54 55.

Appearance

  • Face and eyes: Exceptionally beautiful, with delicate features and distinctive peach-blossom eyes 2 4 8.
  • Build: Slender fingers, broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a straight back 2 26.
  • Usual bearing: A reserved expression and powerful Grand Yin presence make him appear intimidating and otherworldly 4.
  • Clothing: Wears Luyu clothing and Daoist robes, but changes into a plain, rolled-sleeve shirt while staying with his family 7 26.

Personality

Jiang Wangxuan is a determined seeker of the Dao whose ambitions extend beyond Foundation Establishment to Purple Mansion Divine Abilities. Once his Qi Refinement cultivation could advance no further, he preferred risking death in a breakthrough to remaining idle. Lin Tongjiang recognizes in him someone willing to die after hearing the Dao 5 6.

His apparent aloofness is partly a response to the deference and fear surrounding Grand Yin cultivators. With trusted companions, he is gentler and more mischievous: he teases Jinyi, jokes about Fang Lin becoming a household retainer, and laughs openly with Lin Tongjiang 2 26 37 46.

He supports his family without believing he can cultivate on their behalf. He provides resources, education, and protection, but repeatedly emphasizes that his siblings must eventually rely on themselves. His preparations for his possible death show how seriously he takes their dependence on him 2 6 10 31.

The crimson-moon attack makes him more guarded, particularly toward fellow Grand Yin practitioners. Nevertheless, he remains pragmatic rather than arrogant: he understands that talent alone cannot secure independence and demonstrates his strength when Chonghuan tests whether he merits further support 35 38 39.

Abilities & Skills

Grand Yin Cultivation and Immortal Moon Township

His cultivation developed from the sixth-grade Autumn Moon Frost Osmanthus Qi Condensation Method, modified by Big Fat Fish to replace its frost-osmanthus chill with purer, gentler moonlight essence 6.

  • Immortal Moon Township: Incorporates an aspect of Grand Yin’s true essence. Its Full Moon aspect can be developed into Autumn Moon Osmanthus, allowing him to conceal his actual foundation 35.
  • Five Lunar Phases: His Foundation Establishment cultivation requires a complete lunar cycle. The phases are Crescent Moon, Full Moon, Waning Moon, Dark Moon, and New Moon 34 54.
  • Current limit: His Full Moon remains a sliver short of completion in the latest documented passage 55.
  • Fate: Grand Yin’s fate has already fallen upon him; his entry into Chonghuan’s lineage also benefits his teacher and senior brother through fate feedback 40.

Moonlight Techniques

  • Silver River Moonlight: Concentrates his moonlight into an attack capable of slaying demons and breaking illusions. He uses it to kill the Spider Mother and later counters Chonghuan’s river manifestation during a test 11 25 38.
  • Protective moonlight: His silver-white moon disc supports flourishing vegetation, dispels calamities, and wards against evil 11.
  • Moon-Worshipping Spirit-Calming Benediction: A third-grade technique used to calm Fang Lin’s destabilized power and strengthen the Plain Shadow Cold Moon Osmanthus 27 35.
  • Moon Shadows Become Three People: A fourth-grade technique in which he makes progress after the Jinping battle; moon-shadow bodies also help him evade the Spider Mother’s axe 24 27.
  • Moon Laurel Condenses Frost Soul: A third-grade technique deployed as a formation to freeze attacking demonic branches 29.

Spirit Awakening

Spirit Awakening is a power gained through his Immortal Foundation 35.

  • Awakens and connects spirituality rather than merely supplying Spiritual Qi 37.
  • Combined with the Moon-Worshipping Spirit-Calming Benediction, strengthens the Plain Shadow Cold Moon Osmanthus and forges its spirituality into a starburst 35.
  • Enables the old osmanthus to develop new golden radiance after having reached its growth limit more than two centuries earlier 37.

Swordsmanship

  • Practiced with Xue Renya for three years 6.
  • Demonstrates Sword-Ray, the first sword realm, while wielding Autumn Frost against the Spider Mother 24.
  • Uses Sword Qi to wound the Spider Mother during her attempted Immortal Foundation formation 24.

Clear Water Techniques

His Grand Yin true essence can activate Clear Water techniques through the Cavern Spring Talismanic Words Bracelet 7.

  • Restrains a spider demon with conjured water 16.
  • Summons the bracelet’s flood dragon spirit to employ the third-grade Clear Water Pours, Return to the Ruins Overturns, destroying a spider swarm 19.
  • Before Foundation Establishment, these techniques impose a heavy expenditure of Law Power even with the moon disc’s support 18 19.

Big Fat Fish’s Analytical Support

Big Fat Fish is his Supreme Dao Wisdom, an evolving intelligence within his Rising Yang Mansion whose life is bound to his 7 30.

  • Analyzes cultivation methods and optimizes techniques, including his own Qi Refinement method 6 46.
  • Uses Data Stream to remove blood resentment and the Spider Mother’s curse manifestation from his Rising Yang Mansion 19.
  • Wields the Black Tide against the invading crimson moon and later suppresses the recovered tide 33 35.
  • Helps identify the dangerous Baihui route in Jinyi’s cultivation method and a way to carry her Dui Marsh Metal Essence through it safely 47.
  • Cannot perceive his original silver-white moon disc or enter Fahuan Hall 11 54.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Cavern Spring Talismanic Words Bracelet — A university-owned Foundation Establishment Law Artifact loaned for his continuous use. • Cicada Immortal thumb ring — Responds to his moon essence and helps guide the investigation into the Cicada Immortal’s legacy 17 21.

  • Heavenly Origin Returning Soul Full Moon One Method — Explains a shortcut from the onset of Full Moon into Waning Moon; improves his understanding without immediately raising his cultivation 54 55.

  • Chen Suqiu — Jinyi’s roommate. He asks her to watch over his sister and later arranges for both women to use his vacant residence 2 44.
