Blood Spirit Qi and Death Spirit Qi
He sprang into a sprint! Bursting forward at over ten meters per second, he raised his blade and brought it down, silencing several wild boars.
He wiped the blood off his blade and put it away.
Deeper in the den, the Avatar collected all the Class Change Stones around the wild boar king. He searched carefully for a while longer, and when he found nothing else, he immediately dashed out of the den.
But the squeals of those boars had still drawn some of the ones that had gone out back.
These boars returned separately and were no match for the Avatar one-on-one. The first to return was an adult boar. Seeing the Avatar emerge from their den, its eyes turned bloodshot, and it pawed hard at the ground with its front hooves before charging at him in a frenzy.
Faced with that brute charge, he simply sidestepped, drawing his blade and stabbing it through the boar's eye in the same motion.
With the Avatar's current abilities, he could exert over a thousand kilograms of force in a single movement. Close combat actually brought out his terrifying strength.
He pulled out the blade.
A torrent of blood immediately gushed from the boar's wound, accompanied by its agonized squeals.
With a "thud," it fell to the ground.
Seeing that he had mortally wounded the boar, he continued running out. He encountered several more boars along the way, none of which could withstand a single exchange with him. Wang An even sent the boars that were nearly adults flying with a kick, leaving them unable to get up for a long while.
Gradually, the smell of blood filled the mountain woods, and death lingered there. Through the Avatar's eyes, something seemed about to be born. Clear qi constantly gathered from all around Four Corners Flat, lingering in this hollow.
But judging by the speed, it would take another few hours, so he left it alone for the time being and began searching the area for targets.
Two hours later, he had found only two Class Change Stones, both of which had already been used. It seemed the boars had collected all the Class Change Stones in the area, so the Avatar stopped looking and returned to wait by their den.
The boars that had gone out had all returned, but faced with the slaughtered bodies of their own kind, they could only rage helplessly. Low growls of anger, pain, and fear echoed inside the den.
The boars dragged the others the Avatar had killed back into the den, until their blood flowed all over its floor.
Through Wang An's Qi Observation talent, he saw red matter gradually gathering in the blood. Clear qi from outside combined with it, and dozens of minutes later, a wisp of blood-red qi emerged. The boars also seemed affected: the blood throughout their bodies began to boil, their eyes grew bloodshot, and they became violent and irritable.
Seeing the qi being born, the Avatar immediately used the [Qi Gathering] skill to draw the wisp of blood spirit qi into his body.
The blood flowing across the ground quickly congealed and turned black, and the smell of blood gradually faded.
After the wisp of blood spirit qi entered his body, the boars gradually returned to normal. They became somewhat bewildered and at a loss, filled with an inexplicable fear, not knowing what had happened to them.
Just as the Avatar was preparing to return to camp, a different aura combined with the clear qi and emerged from the dead bodies. It was a current of black qi, chilling and sinister.
After this qi was born from the dozen or so corpses, the dozen or so surviving boars, for some reason, grew averse to and afraid of the bodies. A feeling of impending disaster washed over them, and they fled the den one after another.
Looking at the qi, the Avatar suppressed his revulsion and used the [Qi Gathering] skill to draw the wisp of death spirit qi into his body.
Of the two wisps, the blood spirit qi bobbed like a drop of blood in the lake of essence qi. The death spirit qi was driven to the bottom of the lake by the other qi, where it lay like a puddle of sludge.
He carefully observed and recorded the terrain and changes here: why could this place gather the clear qi from the surrounding area, and why did the clear qi combine with things of life to give birth to two other kinds of qi? The azure yang qi from before had been the same.
With his questions and his gains, the Avatar found the others in the direction they had agreed to meet.
When everyone saw him return covered in blood, they hurriedly asked whether he was hurt.
"I'm not hurt. This is all boar blood. Did you run into a herd of wild boars?"
Only after learning he was unhurt did everyone breathe a sigh of relief. The captain was, after all, their greatest source of fighting strength. Without the expedition captain's protection, they would have a hard time getting out of the forest.
At the same time, though, they were a little puzzled. How could hunting boars with a bow and arrows leave him smelling so strongly of blood?
Indeed, no one would have imagined that someone could kill wild boars one after another in close combat.
The Avatar told everyone about some of the things they were concerned about. The wild boar king was confirmed dead, and he had also killed seven or eight other boars.
Everyone should get some rest early, set out early tomorrow, and get away from this place in case the boars came to their senses and sought revenge.
Hearing that the wild boar king was dead, everyone's tightly wound nerves gradually relaxed. As for the captain killing seven or eight boars by himself, they were a little surprised, but also felt it was only natural.
Although they still didn't know how the captain had shot through the wild boar king's defenses and struck its brain, they knew he must have some unusual methods.
What they cared about, however, was their own safety. As for what method he used, anything would do as long as he could protect them. They weren't fools; they knew how terrifying an attack had to be to seriously injure a monster like that, and it might involve some controlled weapons. So, by unspoken agreement, they didn't ask what the captain had used.
That night, everyone pitched tents on the mountaintop and rested.
On the fifth day, before dawn, the Avatar woke everyone and said, "Yesterday, I killed the wild boar king and some other boars. We can't be sure they won't go mad over it and come looking for revenge, so hurry and pack up. Let's get some distance ahead while it's still dark."
Sure enough, they had only been on their way a short while when the herd of boars came after them.
He said to everyone, "Those without ranged weapons, go to the front and clear the way. Those with weapons, come over here and focus your attacks."
The Avatar and the four instructors formed a dense net of fire, pouring arrows at the seven or eight juvenile boars being driven toward them. The Avatar was the most accurate, and he took down these juveniles with precise headshots, basically one arrow each.
The other instructors' arrowheads weren't specially made armor-piercing tips, so Wang An had them aim for the boars' joints to hinder their movements.
In just two or three seconds, two boars fell, and several more were badly injured by the instructors' concentrated fire.
The boars were immediately frightened by the terrifying barrage. Before this, the wild boar king and the adults had always taken the damage, and they hadn't expected it to be so terrifying. They let out low growls, none daring to advance.
Everyone took the opportunity to keep moving. The herd quieted down for a while, then charged again with the adult boars leading.
However, even though everyone had anticipated the increase in mutated animals and deliberately brought extra arrows this time, they had already used more than half of them.
If they let the boars keep probing and wearing down their supply of arrows, they would soon lose the ability to fight back.
