There is a verse that says:

Shenghua Decoction is a postpartum formula containing Angelica sinensis, Ligusticum striatum, peach kernel, licorice root, and ginger cooked in wine.

For lochia retention and lower abdominal pain, pain relief and meridian warming are also effective.

Some say that the treatment of leukorrhea, commonly known as gynecological disease, is inseparable from the formula Dihuang, Baishao, Danggui, and Chuanxiong. The so-called Dihuang, Baishao, Danggui, and Chuanxiong are Rehmannia glutinosa, Paeonia lactiflora, Angelica sinensis, and Ligusticum chuanxiong.

This is a famous prescription that has been passed down through the ages, called Four Substances Decoction).

Four Substances Decoction is now mostly used to treat gynecological diseases, and its evolved forms, such as Peach Kernel and Safflower Four Substances Decoction, have even become specialized formulas for treating gynecological diseases.

Actually, that's not the case. The earliest version of Four Substances Decoction) comes from "Xian Shou Li Shang Xu Duan Mi Fang" (Secret Formulas for Treating Injuries and Fractures by Immortals), a book from the Tang Dynasty, which was passed down by Daoist Lin.

This formula was originally used to treat bleeding, swelling, and internal bleeding caused by falls or sprains.

It's no wonder that this formula gradually became a gynecological remedy. Because of women's physiological structure, menstrual problems are often caused by blood stasis, so this formula is frequently used. However, not all problems are due to blood stasis, so it's important to understand this point!

The formula for Shenghua Decoction comes from the first volume of the postpartum section of Fu Qingzhu's Gynecology.

Fu Qingzhu was highly accomplished in internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, and surgery, but he was most renowned for his expertise in gynecology.

When talking about people from the past, we can get to know them from one perspective, but historical figures often play multiple historical roles. So here we can introduce Fu Qingzhu briefly.

Besides being proficient in medicine, Fu Qingzhu was also skilled in Confucianism, history, internal alchemy, Daoism, Buddhism, poetry, calligraphy, painting, epigraphy, martial arts, and more.

Fu Qingzhu, along with Gu Yanwu, Huang Zongxi, Wang Fuzhi, Li Yong, Yan Yuan, was hailed by Liang Qichao as one of the "Six Great Masters of the Early Qing Dynasty."

Fu Qingzhu also had a major task. "Overthrowing the Qing and restoring the Ming."

The author of the book "Record of Syndrome Differentiation" that we have mentioned many times before Chen Shiduo, was a student of Fu Qingzhu.

Okay, let's get back to the main topic.

Since Li Weiwei is due to postpartum retention, although she does not experience lower abdominal bloating or pain, it is likely due to old blood stasis. Since Chengqi Decoction was used to remove some of the heat evil, the second step should be to remove the remaining blood stasis.

The formula Shenghua Decoction is known in folk medicine as "Sweeping Medicine." Why is it called "Sweeping Medicine"?

"Sweep" is exactly what it sounds like. We can think of the uterus as a house where a fetus lives, and after the fetus is born, the house is empty.

However, even though the house is empty, there are still some unclean things inside. So we should use this Sweeping Medicine to clean up those unclean things.

"After you get home, take this medicine. Your lochia might increase, but that's due to the medicine's effects, so don't worry. After one or two more rounds of this, there shouldn't be any problems afterwards. Also, avoid spicy and greasy foods!"

After giving all the instructions, Li Weiwei went downstairs to get her medicine. Su Ziyang, as usual, organized the medical records and wrote down his thoughts.

As Bao Mingya husband, Liu Yanzhen, suddenly called.

Hey bro, got busy?

Liu Yanzhen now has great admiration for Su Ziyang and speaks to him very politely.

"Brother-in-law, I just finished seeing a patient. No rush, what's up?"

After what happened last time, Su Ziyang no longer disliked Liu Yanzhen as before; on the contrary, he found this highly educated person quite interesting.

"Here's the thing. I have a patient here who would like to consult you."

Liu Yanzhen's words made Su Ziyang feel embarrassed.

"Don't say that, let's discuss it. You're too kind."

"Well then, I won't stand on ceremony. Here's the thing, I have a child who keeps getting nosebleeds, and quite a lot of them. We've done a lot of tests, but they haven't found anything. It's just the nosebleeds. We called an ENT specialist, and they used a laser to stop the blood vessel, which only worked for a day or two. Then the nosebleeds started again!"

Liu Yanzhen gave Su Ziyang a brief overview of the situation.

"Is that strange? I read in the Wenxian that a type of purpura can cause this."

Su Ziyang found it strange and expressed a more common opinion.

"No, there's nothing wrong. We're just suspecting a problem with the blood vessels in the nasal cavity; we haven't found anything else."

Liu Yanzhen explained again.

"That's strange."

Su Ziyang frowned and pondered for a moment.

"Yeah, bro, if you're free, I'll drive over to your place in a bit. Take a look and give me some advice when you get there."

"OK!"

"Okay, I need to take on a new patient, so I'll leave it at that for now. I'll be there around noon!"

"OK."

After hanging up the phone, Su Ziyang felt something was amiss and couldn't figure out what was going on.

That's easy!

If you need anything, go to your master; after all, he's my master.

Daoist Jin is a pediatric expert; there's no reason not to consult him.

Daoist Jin's clinic was right next to Su Ziyang's, but for some reason, ever since he went out with Mr. Mengfei, Daoist Jin only opened the clinic for one morning a week. He usually hid in the meditation room of the Daoist temple behind the clinic to meditate, and then came out in the evening to teach Su Ziyang Baguazhang.

The meditation room is where people go into seclusion. Since very few people go into seclusion in Daoist temples nowadays, the Daoist Jin room has been empty. Master Jin doesn't go into full seclusion; he just meditates during the day and comes out for a stroll in the evening to teach Su Ziyang before returning to his room.

Seeing that it was almost time to get off work, Su Ziyang left home and headed straight for the Daoist temple.

"Su, where are you going?"

Su Ziyang had just come downstairs when he heard Fairy Li calling him.

"I'm going to see my Master Jin, do you want to come along?"

"Walk!"

Fairy Li ran over and grabbed Su Ziyang's sleeve, then followed Su Ziyang into the Daoist temple.

"Master."

Su Ziyang walked to the door of the lock room and called out very softly.

When people are meditating and cultivating, they should avoid being frightened. If they are frightened too much, their primordial spirit will be damaged, which can lead to very serious consequences.

The same applies to guiding and circulating qi. First, one should avoid sudden fright, and second, one should avoid exposure to wind. When practicing, one should avoid wind as if it were an arrow.

He called out softly, but there was no response from inside the house. So Su Ziyang stood respectfully at the door and remained silent.

About ten minutes later, the door opened. Daoist Jin, with his hair disheveled, walked out of the house.

"What's wrong, Ziyang?"

Daoist Jin smiled kindly when he saw Su Ziyang and Fairy Li peeking out from behind Su Ziyang.

"Master, are you available now? I have something to ask you."

Su Ziyang bowed with his hands clasped in greeting.

"Hey, just say what you need to say, don't stand on ceremony. I'm just taking a stroll and stretching my legs."

Daoist Jin snapped out of his reverie, closed the door to his room, and waved for Su Ziyang to follow.

"Master, it's like this..."

Su Ziyang followed behind Daoist Jin and recounted what Liu Yanzhen had just said.

"Oh, it's normal for a child to have nosebleeds. Some children are prone to this because they have a lot of internal heat, a bad temper, and the air is dry, or they have dietary problems."

Daoist Jin waved his hand, telling Su Ziyang that there was no need to worry about that.

"But I just heard him say that the child is bleeding very badly, and they have to use cotton swabs soaked in Vaseline and forcefully push those hemostatic forceps in to stop the bleeding. Otherwise, it will keep bleeding."

Su Ziyang then repeated in more detail what Liu Yanzhen had just said.

Daoist Jin frowned upon hearing this. "That's serious! That's certainly a problem. However, I do know a remedy that can treat this unexplained nosebleed."

"Master, I would like to hear the details."

Su Ziyang quickly pressed for more information.

"There are two methods. I've treated two children with nosebleeds before. I just used the first method, although the two children I treated weren't as severely affected as you described. The first method is to roast pumpkin seeds until charred, then boil them in water and drink the resulting liquid. It's quite effective; I've used it."

Daoist Jin explained the first method, and Su Ziyang quickly took out his phone to write it down.

A bad pen is worse than a good memory; taking notes on key points is a good habit.

"And the second one?"

Fairy Li asked the question directly on Su Ziyang's behalf.

"The second one is something I think is debatable, I haven't used it. It says that you dig up red earthworms from a field where chives are grown, dry them, grind them into powder, and blow the powder into a bleeding nose. It's said to be very effective, and can even stop a long-term nosebleed instantly."

Daoist Jin still had many doubts about the second method.

"This method is a bit demanding. Earthworms are easy to find, but earthworms in leek fields are not so easy to find."

Su Ziyang raised the question directly.

Daoist Jin nodded in deep agreement. "Yes, but what they describe is very impressive; the method is too demanding and difficult to implement. However, we could try drying ordinary earthworms to see if it would have any effect."

"Okay, Master. I understand."

Su Ziyang quickly cupped his hands and bowed to Daoist Jin again.

"Alright, get back to work. Stop clasping your hands in greeting, getting proper medical attention is more important than anything else. Go on your way."

Daoist Jin waved to Su Ziyang, indicating that Su Ziyang could leave.

Su Ziyang didn't say much more. Daoist Jin had been in semi-seclusion recently and spoke very little. He had already said a lot, so Su Ziyang didn't want to disturb him.

As Su Ziyang walked, he pondered. Pumpkin seeds sounded simple and easy to use, but their medicinal effect was obviously not that strong. As for the red earthworms in the leek patch, that was simply not practical.

The folk remedy that Daoist Jin obtained will not work if any one condition is missing, that's for sure. Because if ordinary earthworms worked, there would be no need to go through the trouble of digging for earthworms in the leek field.

Su Ziyang remained silent. Knowing that Su Ziyang was lost in thought, Fairy Li Xianzi silently followed behind him without making a sound.

The two had just left the Daoist temple when they ran into Yang Tianzheng, who had been elusive lately.

"Young couple, where are you going?"

Yang Tianzheng called out to Su Ziyang and Fairy Li.

"Master!"

Su Ziyang cupped his hands in greeting to Yang Tianzheng.

"Alright, alright. You've been getting more and more into formalities and holidays lately, who did you learn that from?"

Su Ziyang's masters never cared much about this; in fact, they would get annoyed if there were too many people to greet them.
