Su Zang Picks a Fight
After preparing the medicinal wine for Su Zang, Su Ziyang returned.
He also told Su Zang that the soaking must be done for a full 30 days.
Su Zang readily agreed.
After resting at home for two more days, Su Ziyang returned to the clinic to continue working.
About a month later, Su Ziyang suddenly received a call from Su Zang.
"Hey, this wine's been sitting for a month, is it safe to drink now?"
Su Zang asked over the phone.
"Sure! When you open the jar, add some rock sugar; it will taste better that way."
Su Ziyang repeated his instructions, but Su Zang's voice sounded off, almost accusing. "I released it. You told me this when you left last time. I was waiting for the rock sugar to melt. I drank some, but why is the wine bitter?"
"Huh?" Su Ziyang Su Ziyang also a little confused when he heard Su Zang say that, "Bitter? That can't be! There's nothing bitter in this medicine, how could it be bitter!?"
"Tsk~ Damn. Do you think I can fool you? Is it because I didn't soak it long enough? I added a lot of rock sugar, but it's still bitter!"
Su Ziyang sensed that Su Zang was a little unhappy, so he said, "How about this, you take a picture so I can see what color your wine is?"
"OK!"
Shortly after Su Zang hung up the phone, he sent two photos and a video.
Su Ziyang clicked on it and suddenly discovered that, for some reason, the medicinal wine Su Zang had brewed was a pale green color...
The colors look very strange.
After zooming in on the two photos, Su Ziyang then opened the video.
In the video, Su Zang walked around the glass wine jar and recorded a video.
"Look at this wine, it's like this. It tastes bitter the moment you drink it! You can't drink it."
Su Ziyang watched Su Zang's video, the more he watched, the more uneasy he felt.
Because Su Ziyang had prepared the medicinal wine for his father a few days earlier, Su Ziyang father had already started drinking it and found it quite delicious.
Most importantly, the photos sent by Su Ziyang's father showed that the brewed wine was dark red or brown, and because of the rock sugar, it looked somewhat viscous.
However, in Su Zang's video, the wine not only looks very thin and watery, but the color is also wrong; it's not that dark, you could say it has almost no color.
After thinking for a while, Su Ziyang still couldn't figure it out.
So he called his dad, "Hello, Dad."
"What's wrong, son?"
Su Ziyang's father was busy, Su Ziyang listened to the chaotic sounds coming from the phone.
Did my uncle and his family drink the medicinal wine they made?
As soon as Su Ziyang said this, he heard his father chuckle, and then Su Ziyang heard his father say to the people next to him, "Ziyang asked you about that wine, how did you feel about it?"
"Hey, Ziyang."
It turned out that the two uncles were just sitting and chatting in their own shop.
"Hey, Uncle, did you two drink that wine? How was it?"
Su Ziyang asked.
"The wine is alright. We have a couple of small sips after work, it's pretty good, not bad at all. The taste is also quite nice!"
The two younger uncles said.
"What color is the medicinal wine you make?" Su Ziyang asked again.
"It's red, dark red. Similar to the color of yours. What's wrong? Why are you asking?"
The two younger uncles were curious as to why Su Ziyang was asking this.
"Ah..."
So Su Ziyang told the group about Su Zang's experience of making medicinal wine.
"Were you two at that liquor stand, was that an old man? His face was all wrinkled!"
Su Ziyang's uncle asked.
"Ah! Yes. And a bit hunchbacked!" Su Ziyang nodded.
Upon hearing this, the younger uncle chuckled and said, "Damn, all the liquor they sell is fake, it's all adulterated. And their liquor is super cheap too. How much did you guys get for a few dollars?"
"It seems to be 7 yuan per jin!"
Upon hearing Su Ziyang's words, Su Ziyang father, who was standing nearby, couldn't stand it anymore. "Seven yuan a pound of bulk liquor? Don't be ridiculous, there's something wrong with that liquor, it's all about the liquor!"
"Yes, that's right. The liquor I used to make medicinal wine was brewed at Bailaoquan, it cost over fifty yuan per jin (500g)."
"Mine too, it costs about sixty yuan per pound."
Only after his two uncles said this did Su Ziyang realize that bulk liquor was actually so expensive.
Since the drinks they bought for themselves were so expensive, the fine original liquor they gave to Daoist Jin must have been even more valuable.
Thinking of this, Su Ziyang made up his mind to wait until after work to go to Daoist Jin and get another pound or two to keep...
The problem has been identified: the beverage itself is the issue.
The reason Su Ziyang kept asking around was because he had accompanied Su Zang Su Ziyang the pharmacy to get the medicinal herbs.
After returning, Su Ziyang checked the medicine packet again, so there was no possibility of picking the wrong herbs.
So where did the problem lie? Su Ziyang had no choice but to go through a round of questioning.
During the ten or so minutes that Su Ziyang was video calling his father, Su Zang actually called Su Ziyang several more times.
After hanging up the phone, Su Ziyang quickly called Su Zang back.
"Damn. Is this wine still drinkable? If it is, I'm going to have two bowls tonight!"
Su Zang said this with extreme displeasure over the phone.
"How can you drink something so bitter? You can soak it for now, and I'll show you what's going on with the wine when I get back!"
Su Ziyang's words made Su Zang even more displeased. "Damn it. You only come back once or twice a year, when are we ever going to get to drink this wine?"
"Wait for me to get back. I have a patient here!"
Su Ziyang didn't know how he had offended Su Zang. When he returned home this time, Su Ziyang felt that Su Zang's attitude towards him was a bit strange.
Now, because of this matter, Su Zang's words were laced with barbs, which made Su Ziyang slightly irritated. So, he found an excuse and hung up the phone with Su Zang.
After hanging up with Su Zang, Su Ziyang didn't think much of it and started treating the patients.
Before we knew it, the end of the year was upon us again.
The Daoist temple here is holding a prayer and ritual ceremony, so Su Ziyang has been given a day off.
Fairy Li originally wanted Su Ziyang to come home with her, but Su Ziyang was quite afraid of his two brothers-in-law.
So they only had a meal and then quickly left. Su Ziyang wanted him to go home with him for the New Year, but before his father-in-law could say anything, his two brothers-in-law righteously refused.
Although she wasn't allowed to stay for the New Year, Fairy Li still went home with Su Ziyang and met his parents.
From this point on, their relationship was officially "exposed"!
Su Ziyang's mother really liked Fairy Li, and when Fairy Li was leaving, she even gave Fairy Li a red envelope containing 600 yuan.
Su Ziyang's father was also very happy. His son's marriage was settled, how could a father not be happy!
