Conflict (2)
During the meal, Su Zang remained indifferent to Su Ziyang, barely exchanging a few words.
Su Ziyang was in a bad mood, but he wasn't the kind of child who would storm off in anger. Su Ziyang sat there, drank two glasses of juice, and didn't eat anything.
Su Zang spoke to Xiao Tong casually, and Xiao Tong Xiao Tong noticed the awkward atmosphere, but not knowing what was going on, he just smiled and responded.
Su Ziyang was even more puzzled by Su Zang's attitude than Xiao Tong, so Su Ziyang remained silent throughout the meal.
"Hey bro. That kid just said something like, 'What, your dad calls me bro?'"
Xiao Tong, noticing that Su Ziyang was older than him, took a sip of his drink and asked...
"Haha. We're from the same compound; he's my dad's cousin."
Su Ziyang smiled and said.
"Hey, you two are so close! You both have the surname Su, I thought you were from the same village. Come on, let's have a drink! You can use tea instead of wine, let's have a drink together, brother."
Xiao Tong raised his glass and clinked it against Su Ziyang's.
"Yeah, if we weren't so close, I wouldn't even bother with someone like that!"
Xiao Tong and Su Ziyang were smiling, but Su Zang's Su Ziyang Xiao Tong them both.
Because Su Zang and Su Ziyang were sitting on one side, Su Ziyang glanced at Su Zang, smiled, and said, "Hehe, what do you mean, Su Zang?"
"Damn it. What do you mean?" Su Zang rolled his eyes at Su Ziyang: "My driver's license is revoked, did you know that?"
"I just found out today."
Su Ziyang's words only made Su Zang more agitated.
"Look, let me tell you, Xiao Tong. There's no way to talk to this family."
Su Zang then started talking to Xiao Tong: "My driver's license was suspended because of that incident, and my family has been nagging me about it every day. Now everyone knows, look at this guy!"
This guy is talking about Su Ziyang.
"Look at this guy, he's never home, and he already knows my driver's license was revoked. You can imagine how fast these villagers talk! My Second Brother and his friends are probably still nagging me at their shop! They'll probably curse me out eight times a day, calling me an idiot for losing my license riding an electric scooter!"
Su Ziyang was also puzzled by what Su Zang said.
Su Ziyang only overheard his father mentioning that he had drunk too much, got into a fight while riding an electric scooter, and then had his driver's license revoked for drunk driving.
This isn't something to be proud of; who would bother with such a thing?
Su Ziyang firmly did not believe Su Zang's claim that his family was particular about him.
"Damn, I don't believe you. I've met your Second Brother, we've even drunk together. They're talking about you? That's utter nonsense!"
Before Su Ziyang could speak, Xiao Tong directly refuted what Su Zang had just said.
"Hey, let me tell you. In this world, you can only know a person's face, not their heart. Do you even know what he's like? You didn't know my Second Brother looks down on me! Because of this, he thinks I did something stupid, and he even lost my driver's license!"
Su Zang started rambling on about the matter, while Su Ziyang sat silently to the side, Xiao Tong kept trying to persuade Su Zang.
After much persuasion, Su Zang downed a glass of baijiu (Chinese liquor).
At this point, Su Zang had drunk a bit too much, and his speech became disjointed and incoherent.
Su Zang had drunk too much, and he started muttering and cursing under his breath, spouting all sorts of nonsense.
That's an unpleasant thing to say. We're all family members within five degrees of kinship. Who are you cursing at by insulting our mother?
Su Ziyang's grandfather and Su Zang's grandfather were brothers.
So Su Ziyang was genuinely a little unhappy, and patted Su Zang's arm, saying, "What did you say? You've had too much to drink, stop!"
"Damn it!" Su Zang shoved Su Ziyang's arm. "Don't you dare pretend to be a good guy with me. What kind of good guy are you? Didn't you laugh at me? I asked you, did you fail to make that medicinal wine last time?"
Upon hearing Su Zang's words, Su Ziyang, unsure of his meaning, simply replied, "So you didn't manage to get aroused?"
"Su Ziyang, tell me, since you started your postgraduate studies two years ago, every time you came back for your annual leave, I've treated you to a meal. It might not have been much money, but it was at least two hundred yuan each time. I asked you to make some medicinal wine, and whether you even managed to make it or not, what did you tell your family?"
Su Zang's words left Su Ziyang even more confused. "What do you mean?"
"Damn it! What did I mean?! The medicinal wine I made was bitter! What the hell did you tell your dad? What did you tell my Second Brother? You said I can't afford good wine? I'm asking you, am I short of money? Can't I afford good wine?"
Su Zang became more and more excited as he spoke, patting his chest and saying, "Every time you come back, I treat you to a meal. You tell others that I can't afford good wine. Let me ask you, didn't you help me get the medicinal herbs? Did you help me buy the wine? If you say eight-yuan wine isn't good enough, I'll buy eighty-yuan wine, but you say it's fine!"
"Turn around and tell your family that I, Su Zang, can't afford good wine. I'll ask you this: when you were in graduate school, when we came back for dinner, did I ever let you pay for anything?"
Su Zang muttered curses, and although what Su Zang said before didn't make much sense, his last sentence really stumped Su Ziyang.
Su Ziyang went out to eat with Su Zang. Of the three meals they had, Su Ziyang paid the bill once, and this time Su Ziyang had to do it secretly.
It wasn't because Su Ziyang didn't want to buy it, but because Su Zang was blushing and wouldn't let Su Ziyang buy it.
Once, Su Ziyang secretly paid the bill. Su Zang had been drinking and insisted that the restaurant owner transfer the money back to Su Ziyang, and then he transferred the money back to the owner for the meal.
After a while, Su Ziyang came to believe that Su Zang was genuine.
However, after this incident, Su Ziyang realized that not everyone's efforts are appreciated.
When Su Ziyang was little, Su Ziyang mother told Su Ziyang that gifts for friends, whether food or toys, were appropriate.
If two people have a conflict, or their relationship isn't as good as it used to be.
No further complaints, no mention of it, and absolutely no demanding it back!
Although Su Ziyang didn't understand these principles when he was young, he has always acted this way since he was a child.
But seeing Su Zang's hysterical state, Su Ziyang felt somewhat helpless.
What annoyed Su Ziyang the most was that he thought Su Zang Su Ziyang said it and that was the end of it.
Who knew that after Su Zang drank a cup of wine, he started recounting the whole story from beginning to end, and then repeated it again.
As the conversation progressed, Su Zang's words became increasingly offensive.
Xiao Tong kept saying to Su Ziyang, "Brother, he's drunk, he's drunk. Don't be angry, we'll talk to him tomorrow. He had a full-blown drinking session when he came here!"
Su Ziyang took a deep breath and then said he was going to the restroom.
