Background / History

Arrival at Shrek Academy

Xiao Wu initially travels with Tang San. At the Rose Hotel, she repeatedly mocks Dai Mubai during his confrontation with Tang San. The following day, she enthusiastically introduces herself to Zhu Zhuqing, and the four prospective students travel together to Shrek Academy 5 9.

Her entrance examination reveals level 29 Soul Power. During the combat assessment, she attacks Zhao Wuji with Waist Bow, but her later attempt to use Charm fails because of their enormous difference in mental strength. The backlash leaves her unconscious 11 14 16.

Soul Contract and Covert Assignment

Tang San asks Tianyu to help wake her. Tianyu conceals his actual method behind a white Heaven-Breaking Stone and activates a Soul Contract. The contract heals Xiao Wu while placing its mark deep within her mind; upon awakening, she calls him “Master” 17.

Tianyu orders her to keep the contract secret, including from Tang San, and assigns her to monitor Tang San’s movements and thoughts. Xiao Wu subsequently obtains an illustrated Immortal Herb guide for him and draws out information about meridians, acupoints, and internal cultivation 18 21 23 24.

Star Dou Great Forest

The Titan Giant Ape carries Xiao Wu away during Shrek’s forest expedition. Through the Soul Contract, she tells Tianyu that the ape is her friend Er Ming. When Tianyu sends the evolved Scarlet Flame Lion to retrieve her, she willingly leaves Er Ming to return to her master 27 29 30.

Xiao Wu asks Tianyu to spare Er Ming, suggesting that both he and Da Ming might eventually sacrifice themselves to become Tianyu’s Soul Rings and Soul Bones. Tianyu agrees to let her decide their future involvement 31.

After returning to the group, she credits Tianyu and Zhu Zhuqing with saving her and publicly calls them her “male bestie” and “bestie.” Tang San’s renewed determination to protect her leads him to teach her Tang Sect secrets, which she passes to Tianyu 35 39.

Blue Tyrant Academy and the Tournament

When Tianyu temporarily leaves Shrek, Xiao Wu remains behind under orders to watch Tang San. During this separation, she continues transmitting Tang Sect techniques and cultivation experience through their contract 51 57.

She reunites with Tianyu at Blue Tyrant Academy and later chooses to stay there rather than accompany Tang San to Heaven Dou Royal Academy. By this point, she has also acknowledged Liu Erlong as her godmother 83 94.

As a Blue Tyrant Team combatant, Xiao Wu faces the Star Luo Royal Team and Spirit Hall Team. Tianyu intercepts Dai Weisi’s attack on her, while she later overwhelms Yan with repeated close-range strikes. After Tianyu defeats the New Shrek Team in the final, she immediately embraces him in celebration 200 215 227.

Xiao Wu is initially lively, outspoken, and eager to stir up trouble. She enjoys mocking Dai Mubai and approaches Zhu Zhuqing with immediate familiarity. Her confidence also prompts her ill-fated attempt to charm Zhao Wuji despite the difference in their strength 5 9 16.

The Soul Contract fundamentally changes her priorities rather than merely creating an ordinary allegiance. She comes to trust Tianyu above Tang San and treats maintaining her former relationship with Tang San as an assignment. She actively seeks Tianyu’s approval and follows his instructions to conceal their bond 18 23 27.

Her boldness remains visible when defending Tianyu: she challenges Yu Xiaogang’s treatment of him and pressures Tang San to support her position. Later narration describes her as more thoughtful and less prone to causing trouble than before 42 46 167.
