Planning for the Future
Sensing how little divine power remained within the Goddess of Life, Gu Yue withdrew her small hand, her brows tightly furrowed.
With the circulation of Life Divine Power, the injuries left by the Asura God had improved slightly.
But he knew that completely eradicating them would be no overnight task.
"Forcibly sealing her alone isn't a long-term solution."
Gu Yue looked at the Goddess of Life, who was gritting her teeth and glaring at her, and a thought flashed through her mind. Should I just swallow her whole and refine her in an instant?
But she quickly dismissed the idea.
A living Half-Step God King was worth far more than a one-time use. She needed to find a way to make it sustainable.
Gu Yue pondered the possibility of winning the Goddess of Life over.
After all, he was in a truly difficult position, with hardly anyone at his side he could make use of.
None of the Soul Beasts on the entire Douluo Continent had been born yet; her own injuries were severe, and before long she would fall below the god level;
Di Tian, the strongest workhorse under her command, was also steadily losing his cultivation. According to the original story, he could only slowly cultivate it back.
As for Zi JI... she was nothing but an egg and couldn't help at all.
After turning it over in her mind, the only combat force she could control right now was the Goddess of Life before her.
The Goddess of Life was originally a deity of the Divine Dragon Realm and revered the Dragon God as her lord. As the Silver Dragon King, who had split off from the Dragon God, he had a chance of winning her over.
After all, in the original story, even the God King Little Scumbag had managed to fool the Goddess of Life completely.
Gu Yue was confident that, with the methods at her disposal as a transmigrator and hundreds of thousands of years to wear her down, winning her over would be nothing. She could even fool her into giving birth eight hundred times...
All right, looking down at her own unremarkable loli body, that was pure wishful thinking for someone without a dick.
Strictly speaking, though, according to the Douluo IV setting of the world he was in, the Silver Dragon King didn't even count as the Dragon God's true other half. She was merely formed from the Dragon God's benevolent thoughts.
But that wasn't much of a problem. He was now the genuine lord of all beasts, and the Goddess of Life's true form, the Ancient Tree of Life, wasn't human to begin with. From the standpoint of their species' origins, it was perfectly reasonable for him to be her lord.
Unfortunately, the great war in the Divine Realm had only just ended, so there was clearly no way to earn her trust immediately.
The immediate priority was to find a way to seal her cultivation and sever her control over the Ancient Tree of Life, her true form, to prevent her from suddenly turning on her, while still allowing her to absorb the primal power of heaven and earth on her own to restore her divine power. That would turn her into a fully automatic power bank that would never run dry.
"A restriction that difficult... Looks like I can only rely on little Gu Yuena."
Gu Yue sank her consciousness into the Sea of Consciousness.
Suddenly, from the corner of her eye, she vaguely glimpsed a streak of flowing light suspended deep within the Sea of Consciousness. It was woven from the color of nothingness and emanated ripples of space and time.
"Is this something I brought with me when I transmigrated?"
Something stirred in Gu Yue's heart. She had a faint impression of it; it seemed to be what she had seen when she lost consciousness.
But the immediate priority was to deal with the power bank's endurance and the danger of her injuries rebounding. She put her curiosity aside for the moment, approached little Gu Yuena first, and coaxed her patiently:
"Nana, you inherited the Dragon God's world-shaking wisdom. Shouldn't you study a special restriction that can seal her cultivation while still letting her restore her divine power on her own?"
Little Gu Yuena blinked her limpid purple eyes and tilted her little head. Then, out of the blue, she said in a clear voice:
"Dad, were you about to say... if I don't do it, I wouldn't want you to do this or that to me, would I?"
The smile froze on Gu Yue's face. She promptly gave the little one a light knuckle rap on the forehead.
"Stop learning those messy phrases. Get to work."
"Wah... I know, Dad. You stingy-pants."
Little Gu Yuena covered her forehead with both hands and rubbed it aggrievedly, her little mouth sticking out in a huge pout.
After little Gu Yuena took over the body, she immediately set about working in a very businesslike manner.
Drawing on the dragon race's innate understanding, a few memories inherited from the Dragon God, and the Super Divine Artifact, the Dragon God Core, she circulated divine power around the Goddess of Life. Clearly, completing the restriction would take some time.
While little Gu Yuena concentrated on studying the restriction in the outside world, Gu Yue quietly contemplated the situation and her future fate in the Sea of Consciousness.
For now, the Goddess of Life was suppressing the sword wounds within, while the Dragon God Core shielded her from the Divine Realm's senses without. Though she had temporarily escaped the crisis of life and death, the road ahead remained bleak.
The Dragon God had gone mad and left behind a decree forbidding the beast race from becoming gods, throwing the entire dragon race, and even the beast race, into an abyss of eternal damnation.
And the later God King Tang San had gone even further, treating the Douluo Continent as his own backyard, plotting a ten-thousand-year scheme for personal gain.
Was he really supposed to sleep until the Legend of the Dragon King era, follow the original story's old path, become Little Scumbag's daughter-in-law, and call a rabbit his mother-in-law?
Just thinking about it gave him goosebumps.
If Tang San could make a ten-thousand-year plan, he would lay out a grand scheme spanning hundreds of thousands of years.
He would shatter the Dragon God's bullshit curse with his own hands.
He would become the Dragon God-no, surpass the Dragon God.
And then there were the deities of the Divine Realm. If not all of them, at least nine out of ten harbored killing intent toward him.
At the end of the great war in the Divine Realm, the dragon race had refused to listen to any attempt to dissuade them. They had fought for the Dragon God, smashing the entire Divine Realm to pieces and leaving corpses strewn everywhere.
Among the fallen gods, there had been no shortage of relatives, friends, and loved ones of the human deities still living. It was easy to imagine how deeply they hated the dragon race, and even the entire beast race.
But what had he, the Silver Dragon King, done wrong?
He was just the one left to take the blame for the Dragon God and the entire dragon race. These innately evil deities had turned their spears on an innocent person like him. They truly had already chosen the path to death.
With that grand goal set, Gu Yue's path was clearer than ever, and her resolve firmer than ever.
Her thoughts surged as she privately considered how to play out this grand scheme spanning hundreds of thousands of years.
The script of the Douluo Continent in her hands was her greatest advantage. What was more, she was at a point hundreds of thousands of years in the past, with countless opportunities to lay her plans. As long as... she could evade the Divine Realm's search for now, the future would be bright.
Little Gu Yuena, who was studying the restriction outside, suddenly formed a spiritual body in the Sea of Consciousness. She tugged on Gu Yue's arm and said in a clear voice:
"Dad, look! It seems like it's been calling you this whole time."
Gu Yue abruptly came back to her senses. Only then did she recall the mysterious flowing light she hadn't had time to examine closely when she entered the Sea of Consciousness.
She had previously been fleeing for her life, her injuries critical, and had had no time to pay it any attention. Only now did she truly notice its presence.
The flowing light streamed quietly like the long river of time, emanating ripples of space and time.
Gu Yue slowly walked forward and gently touched the flowing light.
The instant her fingertip made contact with it, the entire Sea of Consciousness shook violently.
Gu Yue felt time and space around her shatter and collapse. Endless darkness swallowed all her senses, and her consciousness plunged into a boundless abyss, falling without end.
The next instant, she lost consciousness.
