| God Level, recovered in the ancient era | 39 | After returning to the wounded ancient-era body, Gu Yue falls below God Level before recovering to God Level over a thousand years. The Asura Sword injury remains, preventing an immediate return to peak strength. |
| Peak strength restored in the later era | 43 44 | The next time journey places Gu Yue in a healed, peak-condition body again. This restoration results from treatment actually carried out in the ancient past, not a new breakthrough beyond Half-Step God King. |
Background / History
Previous Life and Escape from the Divine Realm
Gu Yue was originally a programmer who developed a supersonic Dayun autonomous food-delivery system. While personally testing it, the vehicle crashed off an elevated roadway into a high-rise. Gu Yue next awakened in the Silver Dragon King’s mortally wounded body immediately after the Dragon God had been split by the Asura Demonic Sword. The newborn dragon soul, later named Gu Yuena, occupied the same body 1.
With the Dragon God about to leave the Divine Realm, Gu Yue seized the Dragon God Core, abducted the Goddess of Life, and uprooted the Ancient Tree of Life. Using the captive goddess to make the pursuing gods hesitate, Gu Yue escaped through a spatial rift, although the aftermath of their attacks inflicted further injuries 1.
On ancient Douluo Continent, Gu Yue declared herself sovereign of the beast race and accepted Di Tian’s allegiance. She concealed the lake and created an independent refuge beneath it, ordering Di Tian to guard the perimeter and protect the egg containing Zi Ji. The Goddess of Life was coerced into supplying the divine power needed to suppress the Asura Sword wound 2.
First Visit to the Era Before *Douluo I*
Touching a mysterious stream of light in the Sea of Consciousness sent Gu Yue into a distant future. The body was fully healed, but hundreds of thousands of years had passed almost entirely in sleep. Gu Yuena had followed the instruction to maintain treatment without undertaking Gu Yue’s broader ambitions, leaving the continent close to its original history 3 4.
Gu Yue intervened in Ah Yin and Tang Yuehua’s encounter with bandits, eliminated the attackers, and suppressed Tang Hao and Tang Xiao when they tried to interfere. Ah Yin was taken away and compelled to work beneath the Ancient Tree of Life, while Tang Yuehua developed an immediate attachment to her rescuer 5 7.
During this visit, Gu Yue investigated the time-travel ability, named it Time-Reversal Trajectory, collected the Sunset Forest’s immortal herbs, and experimented with the Silver Dragon King’s powers. She also encouraged the entanglement of Xiao Wu, Ah Rou, Tang Hao, and Tang Xiao, watching the resulting conflicts through divine sense. The journey ended automatically before Tang Hao’s rampage through the Clear Sky Sect had concluded 7 10 12 13 29.
Ancient-Era Preparations
Returning to the ancient era restored Gu Yue’s immediate experience of the still-wounded body. Gu Yuena completed a restriction that allowed the Goddess of Life to replenish divine power while remaining controlled, and Gu Yue ordered the goddess to restore Ah Yin’s Blue Silver Emperor form 36 37.
Over the following thousand years, Gu Yue recovered to God Level and worked with the others to compile books and teaching materials under the name Star Dou Publishing House. The central aim was to strengthen the beast race without prematurely disrupting the later story. Practical projects included a lightning-protection tower for Soul Beast tribulations and a vast education program for intelligent beasts 38 39 42.
Gu Yue also used Ah Yin to guide early humanity. Ah Yin was instructed to rescue a fleeing girl, teach basic meditation, and establish the Holy Spirit Envoy faith. Humans were expected to develop through their own hardships rather than receive unconditional protection 40.
Testing What Survives Across Time
The next journey arrived earlier than the previous visit, around Yu Xiaogang’s expulsion from his clan. Gu Yue found that Holy Spirit Hall had survived but dwindled to a few hundred secluded members. Early Soul Tools had disappeared, and Ah Yin had eventually been forced to restart cultivation after the lightning tower failed 43 44.
These outcomes clarified the time ability’s central rule: only actions actually completed in the past persist as established facts. Suggestions alone—such as collecting Soul Tools or opening a refuge plane—did not guarantee future results. Gu Yue consequently began undertaking plane creation personally rather than relying on an unfulfilled instruction 44 69.
Spirit Hall, Sea God Island, and the Valley Trials
Gu Yue recruited Qian Xunji by revealing Spirit Hall’s vulnerability to the gods’ schemes and promising to preserve the Six-Winged Angel bloodline. After binding his soul, Gu Yue changed his Martial Soul’s attributes to Ultimate Darkness and directed him toward the Rakshasa Godhood. He was also ordered to assist anyone representing Holy Spirit Hall unconditionally 47 48.
As preparations for an expedition against Sea God Island developed, Gu Yue sent Gu Yuena to organize powerful sea Soul Beasts. The intended outcome was a prolonged conflict that weakened human forces, not an immediate destruction of the island. Gu Yue separately secured Bo Saixi’s loyalty, promised her the Sea God Godhood, and returned her to the island with protective divine sense 78 79 95 97.
Gu Yue later connected Qiankun Asking Love Valley to Spirit Hall’s theory competition. Debate winners could enter its trials under the cover story of an ancient ruin discovered by Spirit Hall. Gu Yue and Gu Yuena administered questions and rewards, including a Golden Sacred Dragon essence-blood prize and Ji Boda’s successfully awarded second Martial Soul 120 125 126 131.
Appearance
Gu Yue’s natural human transformation is a small silver-haired girl; divine power allows other outward appearances without constituting physical maturation 2 4.
- Dragon form: An enormous silver dragon with purple eyes and gleaming silver scales. The initial Asura Sword wound cuts across the back 1 2 4.
- Natural human form: Ankle-length silver hair, clear amethyst eyes, pale skin, and a petite childlike body, commonly dressed in white or silver-white clothing 2 4 10.
- Male appearance: A stern-looking, exceptionally handsome man with shoulder-length silver hair, used during the first encounter with Ah Yin and Tang Yuehua 4 5.
- Older female appearance: Gu Yue later adopts Gu Yuena’s grown appearance for important meetings. When both appear together, their faces and figures are effectively identical 47 107 131.
- Maturation limit: Gu Yuena explains that the original body would need to reach God King level or transform and cultivate anew to genuinely mature beyond its childlike human form 4.
Personality
Gu Yue is calculating, patient, and focused on the beast race’s survival. Knowledge of the original story is treated as a strategic resource, while injuries requiring millennia of recovery are accepted as manageable obstacles. Education, technology, controlled faith, and manipulation of human institutions all serve the larger goal of strengthening the beasts 3 39 40 42.
That loyalty is accompanied by coercion and a willingness to exploit others. Gu Yue abducts the Goddess of Life, threatens Ah Yin’s subjects to secure her labor, binds Qian Xunji’s soul, and deliberately prolongs conflict around Sea God Island to increase human losses. Romance that leads someone to betray their own people is a particular target of Gu Yue’s contempt 1 7 40 48 95.
In private, Gu Yue is mischievous and easily drawn into teasing, theatrical dialogue, and watching other people’s drama. Gu Yuena receives both affection and discipline: Gu Yue resists being called “Dad,” yet repeatedly softens when she pleads or acts affectionately. Her increasingly destructive pranks also provoke genuine concern 29 36 39 78 86 108 112.
Abilities & Skills
Time-Reversal Trajectory
A mysterious stream of space-time light within Gu Yue’s Sea of Consciousness enables travel between the ancient era and later periods 3 4 7.
- Travel trigger: Touching the light initiates travel; Gu Yue can also sense the means of returning to the original era 4.
- Limited visits: A countdown restricts time spent in the later era, after which Gu Yue is returned automatically 7 29.
- Selective transport: Gu Yue concludes that eligible travelers and objects must be important figures or specific items connected to major events. Ah Yin can be transported, but the collected immortal herbs cannot 7 37.
- No temporal duplicates: Someone already present in the ancient era cannot simply be brought back as another copy 7.
- Established actions persist: Completed actions can alter later history; unimplemented intentions are corrected rather than becoming reality 44.
- Unresolved convergence: Gu Yue continues testing whether separate visits and their altered events will merge into one timeline 120.
Origin-Level Elemental Control
The Silver Dragon King possesses origin-level control over seven principal elements 10 38.
- Elements: Water, fire, earth, wind, light, darkness, and space 10 38.
- Derived elements: Gu Yue can also call upon variants such as ice and lightning 38.
- Practical uses: Creates water mirrors, generates lightning for experiments, and studies elemental combinations for combat 2 10 38.
- Experience requirement: The powers are inherited instincts, but Gu Yue still practices to make them reliable in actual combat 2 10.
Spatial Manipulation and Plane Creation
Spatial control supports escape, concealment, transportation, and the construction of independent spaces 1 2.
- Tears open rifts for near-instant travel and transport of others 5 95 120.
- Combines spatial power with the Dragon God Core to conceal the lake and create an isolated refuge 2.
- Personally works on a small plane, using the later era as preparation for a permanent beast-race refuge in ancient times 69 79 107.
- Connects Qiankun Asking Love Valley’s passage to the theory competition stage 120.
- Concealment requires reinforcement; a thorough search by descending God Kings could eventually reveal traces 2.
Creation Godhead
Gu Yue inherits the Dragon God’s Creation Godhead and uses it to produce objects, life, and bloodline-related materials 2 12 125.
- Creates an Image Recording Stone and a large metal lightning-protection tower 2 38.
- Produces experimental life, including the defective Blackwater Lone Bamboo used for Tang Hao’s Eighth Soul Ring 12.
- Condenses Golden Sacred Dragon essence blood using inherited bloodline records 125.
- Uses the Goddess of Life’s divine power to age a dark-attribute Lone Bamboo to ten-thousand-year cultivation 69.
- Can fashion a new body, but an ordinary human or dragon body would not resolve the cultivation and detection problems facing the two souls 78.
God King-Level Spiritual Power
Gu Yue’s spiritual power reaches God King level even though the Silver Dragon King’s cultivation peaks at Half-Step God King 4.
- Surveys the entire Douluo Star through divine sense 4.
- Observes distant events and transmits scenes directly to subordinates 10 13.
- Conceals activity from divine detection, including Tang Hao’s connection to Divine Slaughter’s Domain, unless a God King personally descends 5.
- Reads Bo Saixi’s memories and leaves divine sense to protect her on Sea God Island 95 97.
Restrictions and Martial Soul Alteration
Gu Yue uses divine power and inherited knowledge to control captives and alter mortal abilities 36 48.
- Provides Gu Yuena with the method for restricting the Goddess of Life while preserving her ability to recover divine power 36 37.
- Can suppress the goddess’s available power with a thought 40.
- Places a restriction on Qian Xunji’s divine soul that can destroy him for disloyalty or at Gu Yue’s command 48.
- Replaces the sacred and fire attributes of Qian Xunji’s Six-Winged Angel with darkness 48.
- Administers the valley trial that grants Ji Boda a Green-Haired Turtle second Martial Soul 131.
Cloning Technique
After Di Tian obtains a spider-type Soul Beast with a cloning ability, Gu Yue studies and reproduces its Soul Skill 107.
- Direct control: Gu Yue can operate a clone remotely; destroying this version causes no loss, but it provides no genuine bodily sensation 107.
- Soul inhabitation: Gu Yuena can occupy the clone and experience the world independently. Destruction would significantly damage her soul 107.
- Available powers: The inhabited clone can use the seven elements and spiritual power, but not the original body’s Creation Godhead 107.
- Energy cost: The clone draws divine and mental power from the original, allowing Gu Yue to notice and track Gu Yuena’s unauthorized activity 108.
Scientific and Educational Development
Gu Yue applies previous-life knowledge to beast-race survival and social organization 38 39 42.
- Designs a lightning tower intended to divert tribulation lightning underground and disperse seventy to eighty percent of its power 38.
- Compiles curricula framed as nine thousand years of compulsory education, five thousand years of practice examinations, and thirty thousand years of entrance examinations 42.
- Plans to teach intelligent Soul Beasts inside a protected plane rather than rely solely on bloodline strength 42 79.
- The original lightning tower eventually breaks under repeated tribulations, demonstrating that the device is not a permanent solution without maintenance or replacement 44.
Equipment / Items
- Dragon God Core — A Super Divine Artifact seized during the escape from the Divine Realm. Used for concealment, independent-space construction, restrictions, and plans for opening a small plane 1 2 3 42.
- Ancient Tree of Life — Taken alongside the Goddess of Life and installed in the refuge. Supports the group’s healing and cultivation environment 1 2 7 39.
